The Secret to Maximizing Your Earnings on Hive

avatar

Are you new to Hive? Are you looking for ways to maximize your earnings?

leofinance.io

The power of compounding

If you've been around the Hive space for a while, you've probably noticed that a lot of rewards here compound. If you're a complete newbie, you may not realize the power of this. Success is all relative, but there's ways to guarantee it around here. Number one is to be active and engaged. Number two is to compound all of your earnings.

Ok, maybe I need to explain that a little further. When you post on Hive, you earn rewards proportional to the Hive Power of the people that voted on it. Those rewards can either be 100% powered up or split 50/50 between Hive Power and HBD. When you receive your Hive Power, it is automatically locked and earning interest at 2.86% APR.

This may not sound like much, but it is compounding every day because if you're active and engaged, you're earning HP every day.

image.png

On top of that, when you vote on someone's post or comment, you're earning curation rewards. So the more your HP grows, the more you can earn on curation. This is another form of compounding rewards on your total HP because the amount you earn is based on it. The amount you earn on curation also varies based on a number of factors, but it always compounds your HP earnings in the end.

I'll admit, I'm not very good at curating. I've seen some people earning 15+% APR on their curation, but I usually hover around the 6-10% range. One day I will get better at it, but for now it is what it is. Take my 6% curation APR and add it to the 2.86% HP APR, and you can see that it's nearly 10% APR.

Again, this may not sound like much but it is always growing based on the amount of HP you have. You can track your curation APR and a number of other useful metrics via Hivestats. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

image.png

Another major key to maximizing your earnings on Hive is to make sure that you are commenting on posts. @forexbrokr did an awesome post on how to implement a daily commenting strategy to catch those votes you might have missed by not commenting. Start commenting on all of the posts in on the home page of LeoFinance and you're almost guaranteed to get some votes.

What's the best part about everything I've said so far? It's incredibly easy. You can also earn additional rewards by posting and commenting via the LeoFinance front end. In addition to the Hive Power and HBD you're already earning, you will start earning LEO tokens.

The beautiful thing here is that the LEO tokens do the same thing that Hive Power does when staked. You start earning posting and curation rewards in LEO as well. Guess what happens with your staked LEO Power? It compounds just live Hive Power.

image.png
Source

Any of this confusing or hard to understand yet? Good. It shouldn't be. I wrote a post earlier today about how your LEO Power will earn ad revenue in addition to the curation and posting rewards. This is yet another aspect that compounds. Instead of earning only your posting and curation rewards, you will also earn between 4-10% APR on your LEO Power from advertising revenue.

Starting to see how nearly everything on Hive compounds and increases your earnings? Let's not stop there... It goes even deeper. I haven't even gotten into tags. Did you know that by using certain tags on your post, you can earn even more rewards from the same content?

There's general tags that you can add to posts such as #pob, #vyb, #neoxian, #archon, and #mancave. Throwing these general tags on your post after your first 5 tags that categorize them will net you additional tokens from each tag! You'll earn Hive Power, HBD, LEO, POB, VYB, NEOXAG, ARCHON, and BRO tokens all from one single post! Share it on Twitter and you can earn POSH tokens too!

Guess what happens with those additional tokens? They compound. Most of them can be staked just like LEO tokens to earn curation rewards as well. With the right amount of focus and participation, Hive help you build wealth that compounds forever. All you have to do is show up and be active.

Think you can handle that?

Users need to remember to claim and stake (power up) their rewards on both HIVE and Hive-Engine.

Users need to pay attention to their upvote value. The minimum payment for both LEO and HIVE is 0.001. Half of the reward goes to the curator and half to the author. The value of one's upvote needs to be over 0.002 before one starts receiving HIVE or LEO curation rewards.

I can't remember the exact numbers. One needs to have about 50 HP before getting HIVE curations rewards and about 30 LEO before getting rewards.

So, it is important to buy and stake coins to thrive on the platform.

While I see your point, it is actually possible to start with nothing. You do have the option to buy and stake, but you don't have to.

What you say is pretty much true, even if I'm not sure of the specifics. There are 2 accounts new Hivers and Leos should follow: @dustbunny and @dustsweeper. When vote values are below the dusting threshold, these accounts fill out the upvote so that curation rewards can be earned.

Delegate HP to these accounts, and one of them (@dustsweeper) offers periodic drips of HIVE. These 2 accounts help one reach the magic 0.002 dusting threshold faster so that the rewards can start coming through.

What we are earning here on Hive, it will add up and become huge at some point. 20% APR on HBD Savings is very lucrative and it is compounded monthly. It can increase your earnings tremendously.

Absolutely! I only didn't add it because I wanted to focus more on posting and curating.

And you explained very well what can be done through posting and curating. Hive blockchain gives everyone an opportunity to get into crypto and slowly build from there. Thank you @l337m45732 for sharing this!

Okay, I had to take into account that not everyone understands Odessa humor). There, you will never be answered directly, the answer will look like I wrote in the comment. If the inhabitants of Odessa want to tell you that the author has opened the topic very widely, gave detailed explanations, and if, suddenly, I would like to write a post on a similar topic, then I would have nothing to add to what has already been said), there will be a phrase ... you burned down our house, killed my intellect, buried my initiative, or something like that). Nope. Lol.

I used to get paid 0.02 LEO from the platform every time I used to leave a comment.

That was "back in the day, when I was young I'm not a kid anymore, but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again."

But yeah, its still a great time to be here.

Oh, there was the time we were all getting CUB airdrops too - and cub was mooning - that was a good time too.

Ok, still a great time. haha

These days the knife keeps falling for CUB. I was able to take advantage the other day, but it looks as if for know I'm set on the CUB side of things. Once things settle down for a bit on the PolyCub side there should be some retrofitting of PolyCub features onto Cub Finance.

Maybe a diesel pool at Tribaldex for SWAP.CUB could be set up to attract interest? It would at the very least solve the liquidity problem that token has on the Hive Engine side of things. What this would involve at a minimum, I don't know.

Ive learned that I don't love paying gas fees or having to tend to my farms or having to do basically anything with metamask.

I think I'll just let those assets grow now.

The CUB I have is in the Kingdom, so it's all on auto-pilot. The Kingdom contract does the farming for me. All I do is deposit-and-forget.

My most recent purchase of CUB was made using my first major experience with stablecoins; in this case, DAI. I chose DAI because it's used by a number of blockchains. Unfortunately for me, the DAI I had withdrawn from the centralized exchange was the ERC20 version; you can understand my disappointment then. Leobridge was taking too long, so I had to do things I didn't want to do.

Next time I buy stablecoins, I need to match them with my target crypto asset of choice. For CUB, it will be BUSD with a splash of BNB.

Will you be using HBD as a stablecoin?

I will be accumulating HBD in savings. I'll do this primarily using either curation/author rewards and some LP rewards I sell for SWAP.HIVE periodically.

Outside Hive, I'm experimenting with stablecoins to see which ones work best for me as I work with CUB and PolyCub. I was under the impression that DAI was available on several chains, which is why I bought some to use to later buy CUB. Then I discover that the DAI was on Ethereum. Next time I will use BUSD. My plan is buy stablecoins just for getting money out of the centralized exchanges before I use them to buy cryptocurrency I really care about.

Thank you! I hope to make the journey both productive and interesting.

Between your post about becoming a millionaire by starting with only 100 dollars principle and adding 50 dollars a month for 30 years and forexbrokr's recent post on daily commenting strategies, it got me thinking of how I can transition from blogging as I had been to blogging as a business. It should still be fun, but it can be done better and more efficiently than how I've been doing it thus far.

What I had written for a post on going to tokenized blogging as a business has undergone a few makeovers over the last few days, so I will rework it as how I will make the transition based on strategies I picked up from fellow Hivers as well as finding a focus (if not a niche) for my posts. I'm finding that I do better when I write posts in service of others rather than just writing for myself.

Will you be posting it soon?

I like blogging on the tribes too, but I have seen so many come and go that it makes it hard to put a whole lot of time into them.

I didn't used to be comfortable writing about finance mainly, but I think that's the direction I want to head in.

I'm working on another rewrite of this post right now. I want to post it tonight or tomorrow. I'm tightening it up first before I add more to it which makes sense for the rewrite.

Along the way I'm linking back to older posts of mine. Then there are the images (where I usually get hung up).

I should have it up within 48 hours.

As for finance, it doesn't need to be complicated like what we find at Bloomberg or CNBC. Personal finance and home finance seem to be underserved niches here, yet we need to get a handle on either or both before we can do any other kind of finance. Personal finance without banks would be a big deal since most people think it can't exist. When people see that such posts absolutely fit under the LeoFinance umbrella, perhaps then we'll see more of them. I look forward to reading your posts in this niche!

Abusive relationships and crypto...

Not that I would write posts on these topics any time soon, but this would be more in tune with my writing:

  • What kind of money or economic system existed on Gilligan's Island?
  • Can there be low-tech DeFi? It's more common than we think.
  • What Pawn Stars Taught Me about Negotiating.

These would qualify as posts for LeoFinance, even if they would be more at home in CineTV or PoB.

I think I've learned a things or two about DeFi since then, so this post would be perfect for a rewrite. No estimated time on publishing it, but I will start rewriting it this week.

I like to describe each Hive account as having an underlying social score to it.

If people see your name and associate you with having a good standing in the community, then they're more likely to upvote you.

Take every chance you get to build that score just by showing up and adding value!

I keep seeing so many people do it all wrong and try and get attention in all the wrong ways. Perhaps they don't realize the risk we OG took when the project first started and how much work, time and effort we put in to get to this point today. It was YEARS of work and it's paying off nicely but I've still got years of work ahead of me with even more dedication. Get out there, provide quality and don't expect instant results and that you're entitled to something.

Thanks for sharing this link on my article.

It seems like we are saying much the same thing, using different words.

One more thing to add, is that the APR if compounded monthly, grows just a little bigger.

20% APR compounded monthly is really like 21.939 APR

Lets get compounding.

I love this, on some days when I don’t feel like making an extra post like I used to, and I feel like I am slacking in my daily reward goals, engaging and getting those comment rewards is what makes me achieve those

All you have to do is show up and be active.

This is something I came to realize in the past few weeks. Before I never commented much, and earned the occasional upvotes for my posts. Since I started actively engaging with others I did not only earn rewards on my comments but also got a ton of new followers and connections.
Showing up every day can be hard as well. Sometimes I really don't feel like posting anything. But reading and commenting should not be that hard at all.

I need to be more business-like in my approach to tokenized blogging instead of solely posting the first thing that pops into my head as I have been for nearly a year. While I don't want to be misunderstood, it's also costing me both time and other content I could be posting here.

You're right about not needing to be serious all the time; I just need to fine-tune what I've been doing so I can do more of the things which add value, less of those which don't, and get back time I can use for more forms of engagement and more posting.
