My Splinterlands Journey | -6.58% after 7 Months

Greetings Splinterfolk!

The purpose of this series of posts is to record my investment in Splinterlands and to ultimately determine if it was worth it or not.

Splinterlands Journey.png

Overview.png

I began my Splinterlands journey at the beginning of October 2021 after reading an article about the Play-to-Earn genre in the NFT world. Due to my love of trading card games, I was naturally drawn to Splinterlands. Before I knew it, I found myself with several accounts and spending a good couple of hours playing everyday.

The first couple of months was devoted to playing everyday and alternating on which accounts I played in order to maximize the daily rewards and ECR. Before long, I managed to turn $70 into $400, which is $330 profit or 471% ROI. Read more about it here.

At the beginning of 2022, I switched jobs and found myself with little to no time for Splinterlands. Fortunately, there are multiple ways to immerse yourself in the game. While I no longer had the time to juggle multiple accounts and play regularly, I was (and still am) able to blog about my experiences and manage my assets. For example, I decided to invest into the newly released Chaos Legion set. Read more about it here.

Timeline.png

01.10.2021 - Created a Splinterlands account and spent $10 on a Summoner's Spellbook

04.10.2021 - Created 4 additional Splinterland accounts and spent $40 on the Summoner's Spellbook for each account

23.10.2021 - Created another Splinterlands account and spent $10 on the Summoner's Spellbook

05.11.2021 - Created another Splinterlands account and spent $10 on the Summoner's Spellbook

16.01.2022 - Spent $2,185 to buy 500 Chaos Legion packs

The Results.png

601 Packs | $1,632.62
  • At the time of writing this post, one Chaos Legion pack is worth $2.7165 on Tribaldex
78 Cards | $202.31
  • My total collection power is 40,580 and I rent out all my cards for an average of 135 DEC/per day
2,210 SPS | $258.59
  • At the time of writing this post, SPS is worth $0.11701 on Tribaldex
8 Vouchers | $12
  • At the time of writing this post, one voucher is worth $1.503 on Tribaldex
720 Dark Energy Crystals | $1.12
  • At the time of writing this post, DEC is worth $0.00156 on Tribaldex
ROI | -6.58%
  • To date, I have invested $2,255 in Splinterlands and the current value of all my assets is $2,106.64

Thoughts and Comments.png

Since my last update (one month ago), my Splinterlands assets have decreased by 8.4%. The main reason for this is because of the 12.29% decrease in price of Chaos Legion packs. Currently, 77.5% of my Splinterlands assets are in Chaos Legion packs. I think the goal for the next three months would be to try to diversify my in-game assets as much as possible.

My Referral Program.png

While Splinterlands does have a referral program, it only benefits the referrer and not the referee. Therefore, it is up us (the existing players) to create our own referral program to help new players enter into the game. Here is how mine works:

  • Sign up for Splinterlands through my referral link here
  • Once you buy the Summoner's Spellbook, I will receive 500 credits ($0.50) which I will use to buy DEC, cards, or both to help you start your Splinterlands journey
  • All you need to do is comment below the IGN you used to sign up with. Once I have verified it, I will reach out to see what you would like to spend your $0.50 on and then send it over
