Preguntas y respuestas sobre la fuerza del liderazgo.

Hace algunos días nuestra estimada amiga @miriannalis me hizo una amable invitación para responder algunas preguntas muy interesantes, sobre un tema muy especial para mí, como lo es el del liderazgo. Esto al darle un enfoque personal, a la excelente publicación de @yadimelgar en este Post; todo este amplio tema, tiene que ver con las potencialidades que los seres humanos desarrollan durante su continua etapa formativa.

Questions and answers about the power of leadership.

A few days ago our dear friend @miriannalis kindly invited me to answer some very interesting questions about a very special topic for me, such as leadership. This by giving a personal approach to the excellent publication of @yadimelgar in this [Post] (https://peakd.com/hive-131951/@yadimelgar/la-fuerza-del-liderazgo-the-power-of-leadership); all this broad topic has to do with the potentialities that human beings develop during their continuous formative stage.

Durante mi corto andar he vivido distintas experiencias, por la diversidad de actividades laborales que he realizado, desde talleres mecánicos hasta instituciones educativas y bancarias. Se puede decir que he hecho de todo un poquito jajaja; pero algo en lo que siempre me he enfocado es en obtener un aprendizaje en cada estación de ese tren de vida. No obstante, la primera vez que escuché sobre liderazgo, fue en aquella excelente escuela llamada INCE.

During my short career I have lived different experiences, due to the diversity of work activities I have done, from mechanical workshops to educational and banking institutions. You could say that I have done a little bit of everything hahaha; but one thing I have always focused on is to learn at each station of that train of life. However, the first time I heard about leadership was in that excellent school called INCE.

Pero luego de leer un poco sobre los diferentes tipos de líder; después de identificar cada uno de estos casos en los lugares en los que hice vida laboral, entendí que el líder es aquel que logra conciliar y guiar a equipos de personas, a quienes incentiva a labrar su propio camino; el líder modela y enseña con su ejemplo. Y eso es algo que me ha tocado vivir, desde ambos extremos la cuerda, porque así como a todos, nos ha tocado dirigir y ser dirigidos.

But after reading a little about the different types of leaders; after identifying each of these cases in the places where I worked, I understood that the leader is the one who manages to conciliate and guide teams of people, who are encouraged to carve their own path; the leader models and teaches by example. And that is something that I have had to live, from both ends of the rope, because just like everyone else, we have had to lead and be led.

Desde hace 14 años me desempeño en una empresa procesadora de alimentos, en el área de empacado del producto final; este trabajo se realiza por turnos rotativos y con grupos que varían entre 15 y 20 integrantes. Es decir, entre 15 y 20 cabezas que piensan distinto y que, a pesar que conocen las funciones que derivan de su contrato laboral; necesitan ser guiados según la actividad a realizar en cada jornada y esto en principio, resultó un reto para mí.

For 14 years I have been working in a food processing company, in the final product packaging area; this work is done in rotating shifts and with groups that vary between 15 and 20 members. That is to say, between 15 and 20 heads that think differently and that, although they know the functions that derive from their labor contract; they need to be guided according to the activity to be carried out in each day and this, in principle, was a challenge for me.

En base a todo esto, respondo ¿En qué áreas has influenciado con tu ejemplo?

Algunos años antes de trabajar en la producción de harina de maíz precocida, tuve la hermosa oportunidad de ser facilitador para esa gran casa de estudios, en la que una vez fue alumno. Fue en esos momentos, cuando más recordé aquel curso sobre algunos principios del liderazgo. Tuve un total de 30 participantes y fue una experiencia muy significativa en mi vida, en la que me correspondió llevar las riendas de un grupo tan numeroso y heterogéneo.

Ahora también tengo una gran responsabilidad, al dirigir y coordinar, todas las acciones necesarias a fin de garantizar el cumplimiento de los volúmenes de producción estipulados por la entidad de trabajo. El ejemplo va desde el cumplimiento de las normativas de salud y seguridad laboral, hasta el apoyo en aquellas tareas donde se debe poner especial énfasis, para mantener un departamento eficiente y operativo.

Based on all this, I answer in what areas have you influenced with your example?

Some years before working in the production of precooked corn flour, I had the beautiful opportunity to be a facilitator for that great house of studies, where I was once a student. It was in those moments, when I most remembered that course on some principles of leadership. I had a total of 30 participants and it was a very significant experience in my life, in which I had to take the reins of such a large and heterogeneous group.

Now I also have a great responsibility, directing and coordinating all the necessary actions in order to guarantee compliance with the production volumes stipulated by the work entity. The example ranges from compliance with occupational health and safety regulations to support in those tasks where special emphasis must be placed in order to maintain an efficient and operational department.

¿Qué es eso que te hace único?

Aunque no es nada fácil encontrar algún rasgo o cualidad, también puedo decir que tengo mi propio estilo de trabajo. Eso que me hace único es mi empeño en generar un ambiente laboral armonioso; siempre enfocado en ser equilibrado, nadie es menos que nadie y nadie es más que nadie; es algo que le recuerdo a mi equipo de trabajo; si hay algún imprevisto (siempre los hay), debo dar el primer paso al frente, para que luego todos ejecutemos las tareas pertinentes. Aquello de la mano de hierro en guante de seda, quedó en el pasado; ahora se trata de convencer con el ejemplo, para alcanzar los objetivos.

What is it that makes you unique?

Although it is not easy to find any trait or quality, I can also say that I have my own work style. What makes me unique is my determination to generate a harmonious work environment; always focused on being balanced, no one is less than anyone else and no one is more than anyone else; it is something I remind my work team; if there are any unforeseen events (there always are), I must take the first step to the front, so that then we can all perform the relevant tasks. That of the iron hand in silk gloves is a thing of the past; now it is a matter of convincing by example, to achieve the objectives.

¿Cuál es mi mayor fortaleza?

Por lo general los seres humanos tenemos muchas fortalezas, no obstante considero que, mantener una conducta ejemplar y es algo complicado, cuando las situaciones internas y externas, afectan la operación. Mantener un carácter imparcial con grupos numerosos de personas, es algo retador. Creo que ello me ha permitido ser tomado en cuenta para ascender dentro de la organización. Es algo actitudinal que debe cada uno tenemos, según la formación de los principios y valores.

What is my greatest strength?

In general, human beings have many strengths, but I believe that maintaining exemplary behavior is complicated when internal and external situations affect the operation. Maintaining an impartial character with large groups of people is challenging. I believe that this has allowed me to be taken into account for promotion within the organization. It is something attitudinal that each one of us must have, according to the formation of principles and values.

¿Cómo ejerces influencia positiva en otros?

En primer lugar, siendo positivo y asumiendo los cambios de manera digerible. Evitar ser alarmista o escandaloso, nos ayuda a construir la imagen que queremos modelar. Sobre todo a la hora de alguna emergencia con algún miembro del equipo, donde se requiere de la toma de decisiones rápidas, pero a su vez acertadas. También cuando ocurren fallas en la línea de proceso y se derrama algún producto; dependiendo de la magnitud, debemos parar, para subir al edificio y recolectar el producto.

Es en esos momentos, donde la primera pala, la debo recoger yo; a veces son muchas jajaja, hasta que los compañeros se abocan al trabajo en equipo. Es de suma importancia, hacerles ver que todos somos parte importante del proceso productivo; si algún eslabón falta en la cadena, el trabajo se multiplica, así que todos somos importantes. Muchas veces hay trabajadores, que traen algún problema que los afecta y es cuando necesitan ser escuchados.

How do you exert a positive influence on others?

First of all, by being positive and assuming the changes in a digestible way. Avoiding being alarmist or scandalous helps us to build the image we want to model. Especially in the event of an emergency with a team member, where quick but accurate decisions are required. Also when failures occur in the process line and a product is spilled; depending on the magnitude, we must stop, to go up to the building and collect the product.

It is in those moments, where the first shovel, I have to pick it up; sometimes there are many hahaha, until the colleagues get involved in the teamwork. It is very important to make them see that we are all an important part of the production process; if any link is missing in the chain, the work is multiplied, so we are all important. Many times there are workers who bring a problem that affects them and that is when they need to be heard.

Este ha sido un viaje agradable, en el que he recordado añejas vivencias y experiencias; es bueno rememorarlas y tener presente el camino andado.
