My Review of Movie "Breakdown" 1997 [Eng - Esp]
A quiet movie that turns into a nightmare.
In my usual tour through the memories of the 90's, almost unintentionally I stumbled upon this interesting film, by American director Jonathan Mosthow, starring Kurt Russell and Kathleen Quinlan, with the outstanding participation of J.T Walsh in his typical role of the villain, which he played with a kind of natural talent haha. I have seen many films where people drive on lonely roads, it is something normal that we all do at some point; however it is also well known, of the danger that is run on desolate roads.

En mi acostumbrado recorrido por los recuerdos de los años 90, casi sin querer me tropecé con esta interesante cinta, del director estadounidense Jonathan Mosthow, protagonizada por Kurt Russell y Kathleen Quinlan, con la destacada participación de J.T Walsh en su típico papel del villano, que hacía con una especie de talento natural jaja. He visto muchos filmes donde las personas conducen por carreteras solitarias, es algo normal que todos hacemos en algún momento; sin embargo también es bien sabido, del peligro que se corre en los caminos desolados.

There are also many stories of people who act as Good Samaritans by helping if there is a breakdown in your vehicle; just as there are many others who do not manage to get someone to stop to help them. This type of situation happens in every country in the world, that is, any of us can be in the shoes of Jeff and Amy, the Taylor couple, who are stranded in the middle of a busy road; but by fate they receive help quickly, but what kind of help?
También existen muchas historias de personas que hacen de buen samaritano, al prestar ayuda si ocurre alguna avería en tu vehículo; así como hay otros tantos, que no logran conseguir alguien que se detenga para socorrerlos; Este tipo de situaciones pasa en todos los países del mundo, es decir, cualquiera de nosotros puede estar en los zapatos de Jeff y Amy, los esposos Taylor, que se quedan varados a mitad de una carretera poco transitada; pero por obra del destino reciben ayuda rápidamente, pero ¿Qué tipo de ayuda?
When I saw the actor Kurt Russell in the presentation, I imagined that the film would have some action and it did; because although it starts out very calm, with totally everyday situations, I could not imagine the drastic change that the plot would take. When we are traveling together, for no reason should we be separated from our companions; and also, it is hard to imagine that a group of people, agreeing to make you look crazy or wrong, but if that happens in a stop in the middle of the desert, it is very likely that it could be happening;
Cuando vi al actor Kurt Russell en la presentación, imaginé que la película tendría algo de acción y así fue; porque a pesar que comienza de lo más tranquilo, con situaciones totalmente cotidianas, no me pude imaginar el drástico cambio que tomaría la trama. Cuando estamos viajando juntos, por ningún motivo deberíamos separarnos de nuestros acompañantes; y también, es difícil imaginar que un grupo de personas, se pongan de acuerdo para hacerte parecer loco o equivocado, pero si eso ocurre en un paradero a mitad del desierto, es muy probable que pueda estar sucediendo;
One of my first impressions of the tape was Jeff's reaction to knowing that his wife was missing; believe me, I put myself in his shoes, just imagining that a close family member went through something similar was terrifying. That you are looking for answers and that the people present at the agreed place, affirm in unison that they have not seen that person, is worrisome. And even more so when the police, "who rarely show up at the right time", also give you for crazy; that makes anyone think hehe.
Una de mis primeras impresiones sobre la cinta, fue la reacción de Jeff al saber que su esposa estaba perdida; créanme que me puse en sus zapatos, de solo imaginar que algún familiar cercano, pase por algo similar y fue aterrador. Que tú busques respuestas y que las personas presentes en el lugar acordado, afirmen al unísono que no han visto a esa persona, es preocupante. Y más aún cuando la policía, "que raramente aparece en el momento justo", también te den por loco; eso pone a pensar a cualquiera jeje.

Soon the emotions came to the surface, chases, shootings and extreme escapism, what more could one ask for? And although it may seem implausible that a town can be so lonely, with almost no people walking the streets; it is something that passes to the background, because the director keeps us expectant with the suspense of what will happen to Jeff; and if he will be able to see his beloved Amy again.
see his beloved Amy again. It was strange to review the details of the film because, there were changes of pace and I was rediscovering the role played by each character; today I have seen the same film, but from a different approach than so many years ago.
Pronto las emociones salieron a flote, persecuciones, disparos y escapismo extremo ¿Qué más podría uno pedir? Y aunque parezca inverosímil que un pueblo pueda estar tan solo, casi sin personas caminando por las calles; es algo que pasa a segundo plano, porque el director nos mantiene expectantes con el suspenso de lo que pasará con Jeff; y si podrá volver
a ver a su amada Amy. Fue extraño revisar los detalles del film porque, hubo cambios de ritmo e iba redescubriendo el papel que juega cada personaje; hoy en día he visto la misma cinta, pero desde un enfoque diferente al de hace tantos años.

I must give credit to the cast, because you can really feel the quality work of J.T. Walsh (Warren), Jack Noseworthy (Billy) and of course Kurt Russell. They really put the viewer in context and give life to characters that evolve as the film goes on. It is incredible the amount of changes that a person can have, when being pressured to act to take justice by his own hand; besides they show us the evildoers in different dimensions; Warren arriving at his home, where his wife and his little son are waiting for him, without knowing what he is really doing to earn money.
Debo hacer honor al reparto actoral, porque en realidad se nota el trabajo de calidad por parte de J.T Walsh (Warren), Jack Noseworthy (Billy) y por supuesto de Kurt Russell. De verdad ponen al espectador en contexto y le dan vida a unos personajes que evolucionan, con el transcurrir de la cinta. Es increíble la cantidad de cambios que pueda tener una persona, al verse presionada a actuar para tomar justicia por su propia mano; además de que nos muestran a los malhechores en distintas dimensiones; Warren llegando a su casa, donde le esperan su esposa y su pequeño hijo, sin saber lo que en verdad hace para ganar dinero.
SourceThis production worthy of the 90's (my absolute favorite), has no waste, we have a person who unknowingly becomes a great hero and who fought all alone; the dialogues are scarce but accurate and the peak moments are full of emotion. An ending with spectacular features, put the icing on the cake. I enjoyed it again, as if it was the first time; and the fact that the police never arrived was even better because they were not needed. I recommend it for lovers of valuable cinema, that without great titles, gives us pleasant surprises.

Esa producción digna de la década de los 90 (Mi absoluta preferida), no tiene desperdicios, tenemos a una persona que sin saberlo, se convierte en un gran héroe y que luchó totalmente solo; los diálogos son escasos pero precisos y los momentos cumbres, están llenos de emoción. Un final con rasgos de espectacularidad, colocan la cereza al pastel. La he disfrutado nuevamente, como si fuese la primera vez; y el hecho de que la policía nuca llegó, fue mejor porque no hicieron falta alguna. La recomiendo para los amantes del cine valioso, ese que sin grandes títulos, nos da gratas sorpresas.

Yo la vi hace tiempo, por televisión, este tipo de films eran muy populares. No recuerdo cual canal fue el que lo transmitió, creo que Rctv. Es bueno, yo consumía mucho estas películas
Ok amigo, ya las cambio; y con lo que me constó conseguir esas imágenes, porque no conseguía sobre está película. Creo que es primera vez que me pasa.

Está película la he visto varias veces, y de verdad que la trama te mantiene bien activo. Las actuación sin muy buenas, y no cabe duda que lo que pasa en la película si puede suceder. Saludos mano
Cierto mi pana, esta cinta nos mantiene allí pendientes de lo que sucede. La trama se desarrolla tan bien que el tiempo se pasa volando.
La escena de Jeff sorprendiendo a los malechores en su propia casa y luego siendo apuntado por el pequeño Nick, es sencillamente épica.
