This weekend, I was delighted with another movie in the style of the 90's, for me it is always a pleasure to get away from the special effects or super convoluted plots, those that give a thousand unexpected twists and turns in the final 10 minutes of the film. In this case, it is rather a film production of those that do not need more ingredients, beyond a plot that anyone can identify with; and that also highlights the natural beauty of the place. Something that I find more difficult to control at the time of filming.
Este fin de semana, me deleité con otra película al estilo de la década de los 90, para mí es siempre un placer alejarme un poco de los efectos especiales o tramas súper enredadas, de las que dan mil giros inesperados sobre los 10 minutos finales de la cinta. En este caso se trata más bien, de una producción cinematográfica de esas que no necesitan mayores ingredientes, más allá de un argumento con el que cualquiera puede identificarse; y que además resalta las bellezas naturales del lugar. Algo que me parece más difícil de controlar al momento de grabar.
It is the movie "The Wild River", by the American director Curtis Hanson, which was released in 1994. In fact, at all times I am grateful for the beautiful natural landscapes that it shows us, with a wonderful but also dangerous river. In this film, female bravery is exalted, as in other films of previous years, in which a woman took charge of complicated situations; but in this particular case, she was not a military woman nor did she use weapons, but her intuition and intelligence.
Se trata de la película "El Río Salvaje", del director estadounidense Curtis Hanson y que fue estrenada en el año 1994. En realidad en todo momento agradezco por los hermosos paisajes naturales que nos muestra, con un maravilloso pero también peligroso río. En este filme se exalta la valentía femenina, como en otras películas de años anteriores, en la que una mujer se hacía cargo de las situaciones complicadas; pero en este caso particular, no era militar ni utilizaba armas, sino su intuición e inteligencia.
I was pleased to see a family being led by the skills of the wife, in this case the Hartmans, where the beautiful Mrs. Gail (Meryl Streep) and her husband Tom (David Strathairn), plan a day of adventures with their young son Roarke (played by Joseph Mazello). And what could be better than an outing to recreate with the family, get away from the noise and pollution of the city, and soak up some sun, appreciating the beauty that the divine creation of our home par excellence offers us for free.
Me dio gusto ver a una familia dirigidos por las habilidades de la esposa, en este caso se trata de los Hartman, donde la guapa señora Gail (Meryl Streep) y su esposo Tom (David Strathairn), planean un día de aventuras con su pequeño hijo Roarke (interpretado por Joseph Mazello). Y qué mejor que una salida para recrearse en familia, alejarse del ruido y la contaminación de la ciudad; y tomar un poco de sol, apreciando la belleza que nos brinda de manera gratuita, la creación divina de nuestro hogar por excelencia.
There is no doubt that children are the image of their parents and when there is less presence of one of the pillars of the family, it can manifest itself in weakness or fear on their part; in some fortuitous and unexpected situation. Besides, I think that in those years, few of us could imagine that the greatest dangers, in such a quiet and lonely place, could be represented by other people who arrive unexpectedly, to the same place. Maybe it was time to change plans, but without these events, we would not have the plot of the movie ha,ha,ha,ha.
No cabe duda, que los hijos son la imagen de sus padres y cuando hay menor presencia de uno de los pilares de la familia, se puede manifestar en debilidad o miedo por parte de ellos; en alguna situación fortuita e inesperada. Además, creo que por aquellos años, pocos podíamos imaginar que los mayores peligros, en un lugar tan tranquilo y solitario, podría estar representado por otras personas que llegan inesperadamente, al mismo lugar. Quizás era momento de cambiar los planes, pero sin estos sucesos, no tendríamos la trama de la película ja,ja,ja.
When a situation occurs, we can't turn back time, but we can foresee some things, such as basic tools (knife, rope, compass, mirror and life preserver); fortunately Gail seems to have taught her husband Tom to light a fire, and even make some smoke signals in the style of the Wild West. This was key for the Hartmans to overcome many difficulties and manage to defend themselves from the dangers that lurked around them.

Little Roarke, like any innocent boy, falls into the seduction of the false friend who wants to gain your trust; fortunately he has learned a code with his mother, which they put into practice when the risk of facing the wild side of that river of crystalline waters arises. Only they know it and that is why they can communicate without being deciphered by Wade and Jerry.

In general terms, I liked the impeccable work of the cast, with the acting lady in stellar form (Meryl Streep); and of course the outstanding soundtrack in the action scenes, when they go down the rapids. They are very realistic scenes, even when they don't seem to be acting, everyone does it naturally and Kevin Bacon always did well playing the villain, because I simply didn't expect him to be, in every movie I've seen him in.

Watching this film again, I fulfilled my goal of being entertained and reliving those emotions of tension, which even turn into suspense. This film has a little bit of everything and what begins as a promise of uncertainty, turns into a production that catches my attention completely. 28 years after its release, "The Wild River" is still a good option to entertain us.
Al ver nuevamente esta película, cumplí mi objetivo de entretenerme y de revivir esas emociones de tensión, que incluso se transforman en suspenso. Esta cinta tiene de todo un poco y lo que comienza como una promesa de incertidumbre, se va convirtiendo en una producción que atrapa mi atención por completo. Después de 28 años de ser estrenada "El río salvaje" sigue siendo una buena opción para entretenernos.
