Today I'll be sharing with you my entry for the splinterland art contest
I chose "THEOROSA NIGHTSHADE" for this concept and also came up with a little background story for the art

Story

Dice. Death. Legendary

She wants what she wants and gets what she wants
ready to strike hills and mountains
to show her dominance over every man
Theorosa was birthed by evil
Evil is their thick lineage
So when it was time to battle for the staff of power
With no mercy, she punctured the throat of
every hurdle
That's the game, you play or you die
Theorosa chose to live.

Now she stamps her feet
and surges the dust of fear
to face of all that have no choice
but not to look her in the eye
cause even that might take them
6ft below the ground
Theorosa is now an evil that rules.

Note: This is an original character created from scratch by me.

Step 1: I created a quick rough sketch of how I wanted my character to be positioned, on the long run I decided to just continue with my sketchy line art because I liked it and it gave me a very unique feeling.

Step 2: after falling in love with the sketch I began to build my forms and at the same time identify my shadowed areas using the dashy lines
more like hatching (a shading technique)

Step 3: Here I started adding my First shadow. For this I decided to use black.

Step 4: Here on this stage I established my first layer of colour, some may call it base colour. For this, I had already created a colour pallette which I'll be using for the art.

Step 5: Here I added my first layer of colour on her staff and also painted in the colour of her eyes.

Step 6: on this stage, I added the shadow go the cape she's wearing

Step 7: here I added the base colour of the, I used a light bit of gradient on the cape. I also coloured in some designs and details on her body, face and also her colour.

Step 8: On this stage I added my first light to the art using a slightly lighter version of the base colour.

Step 9: Here I added my rim light to the body, staff and also for her hair I added some lighter strokes.

Step 10: Here I added my background in order for me to see the art as a whole and figure if there's anything I'll like to change or adjust before moving on.

Finally, rendering,
Here I decided to add some glow effect on the art and also some other little details.
