The Foxcatcher Movie Review ENG - ESP

The Foxcatcher tells the true story and facts of an infamous character, it tells it in a serious, sensitive way, with a lot of depth and sticking to the real story. The Foxcatcher gets right to the point and grabs you from the start.

Foxcatcher as I said is a very mature film, very serious, unfortunately deadly and that grabs you from the beginning, shows us the story of an eccentric millionaire, who, trapped in his money and his madness, committed the horrible murder of a great Olympic medal winning athlete, Dave Schultz.

There are things money can't buy, that's a truth that can't seem to be denied, no matter how much money the infamous millionaire had, it couldn't buy loyalty, it couldn't buy respect, it couldn't buy the recognition that comes with winning Olympic competitions.

The film revolves around the tragic story of the Schultz brothers, a pair of Olympic medal-winning wrestling brothers who were trying to cope with training and daily life, seemingly without government support.

This is where the figure of this unstable millionaire appears, who first tries to convince the younger of the brothers, Mark Schultz, with money and providing him with everything an elite athlete needs, offering him and trying to create a high performance center for the athlete to focus only on training.

In this way, and using manipulation is how he manages to convince Dave, offers and invites him to his mansion where he has a great training center, has the facilities that an athlete needs, has more athletes training with him, and also has monthly financial support for his expenses, life apparently begins to smile to the young athlete.

But not everything is so easy and rosy what begins to be a path full of mines for the youngest of the Schultz, where he is invited to follow the excesses that life with a millionaire can offer. He begins to plant ideas in the young man's head against his older brother so that he stops being the supposed shadow of his older brother.

The brothers until that moment had had a great fraternal relationship, because in the film we get to realize the childhood in which the brothers grew up where as children they only had each other, a relationship that gives you train with your brother every day, that strange relationship that gives you receive blows from your brother, blows without malice with the intention that you are the best possible version, hoping to be the best athlete possible.

Fotcatcher shows us in a hard, cruel and real way, how the upper class takes advantage of the lower class, due to the ignorance that many times and sadly they are subjected to. For example, the sometimes exaggerated acting of Mark Schultz, makes him look like a man who is only driven by violence, who does not know how to behave in society.

However, the objective of approaching Mark is simply with the intention of attracting his older brother, who fits better with the intentions that this millionaire has, since Dave has built a career as a wrestling trainer and fits perfectly with the Machiavellian plans.

Once Dave has been caught, there is no more reason to continue being nice to Mark, who is only a piece in this puzzle, but he is not the strongest link in the chain and it is here where everything starts to go wrong in the working relationship between the athletes, together with the constant psychotic episodes that are getting worse and worse in the Schultz brothers' boss.

Everyone knew this character was crazy, but when there is money in their pockets, people tend to overlook the follies of millionaires and applaud and celebrate them until misfortune strikes.

Unfortunately Foxcatcher ends in misfortune as I had already anticipated, it ends in the death of the Schultz's older brother, at the hands of a crazy, paranoid man who had achieved everything he had wanted in his life and still did not feel full or fulfilled with what he had.

The film is cruel, harsh and gory, however, and the saddest part is that it is based on true events which makes it feel that much harsher.

The Foxcatcher cuenta la verdadera historia y los hechos de un infame personaje, la cuenta de una forma seria, sensible, con mucha profundidad y apegado a la historia real. The Foxcatcher va directo al grano y te atrapa desde el comienzo.

Foxcatcher a como lo dije es un film bastante maduro, muy serio, lamentablemente mortal y que te atrapa desde el principio, nos muestra la historia de un excéntrico millonario, que, atrapado en su dinero y en su locura, cometió el horrible asesinato de un gran atleta ganador de medallas Olímpicas, Dave Schultz.

Hay cosas que el dinero no puede comprar, eso es una verdad que parece que no se puede negar, por más dinero que el infame millonario tenia, no podría comprar lealtad, no podría comprar respeto, no podía comprar el reconocimiento que viene con el hecho de ganar competiciones olímpicas.

El film gira en torno a la trágica historia de los hermanos Schultz, un par de hermanos luchadores, ganadores de medallas olímpicas, que intentaban sobrellevar el entrenamiento y la vida diaria, al parecer sin apoyo ni soporte del gobierno.

Es ahi donde aparece la figura de este inestable millonario, que intenta convencer primeramente al menor de los hermanos, Mark Schultz, con dinero y proveyendolo de todo lo que un atleta de elite necesita, brindandole e intentando crear un centro de alto rendimiento para que el atleta solo se enfocara en entrenar.

De este modo, y usando manipulacion es como logra convencer a Dave, le ofrece y le invita a su mansion donde tiene un gran centro de entrenamiento, tiene las instalaciones que un atleta necesita, tiene a mas atletas entrenando junto con el, y a demas tiene soporte economico mensual para sus gastos le vida al parecer le comienza a sonreir al joven atleta.

Pero no todo es tan facil y color de rosas lo que comienza a ser un camino lleno de minas para el menor de los Schultz, donde se le invita a seguir los excesos que la vida con un millonario puede ofrecer. Comienza a sembrar ideas en la cabeza del joven en contra de su hermano mayor para que este deje de ser la supuesta sombra de su hermano mayor.

Los hermanos hasta ese momento habían tenido una gran relación fraternal, pues en la película nos llegamos a dar cuenta de la infancia en la que crecieron los hermanos donde de pequeños solo se tuvieron el unió al otro, una relación que te da entrenar con tu hermano todos los días, esa extraña relación que te da recibir golpes de tu hermano, golpes sin maldad con la intención que seas la mejor versión posible, esperando que seas el mejor atleta posible.

Fotcatcher nos muestra de manera dura, cruel y real, como la clase alta se aprovecha de la clase más baja, debido a la ignorancia que muchas veces y tristemente se ve sometida. Por ejemplo, la actuación algunas veces exageradas de Mark Schultz, lo hacen ver como un hombre que solo se deja llevar por la violencia, que no sabe comportarse en sociedad.

Sin embargo, el objetivo de acercarse a Mark es simplemente con la intención de atraer a su hermano mayor, quien cabe mejor con las intenciones que tiene este millonario, pues Dave ha construido una carrera como entrenador de lucha y encaja a la perfección con los maquiavélicos planes.

Una vez conseguido a Dave no más razón de seguir siendo amable con Mark, quien es solo una pieza en este rompecabezas, pero no es el eslabón más fuerte de la cadena y es acá donde todo se comienza a torcer en la relación de trabajo que tienen los atletas, aunado con los contantes episodios psicóticos que cada vez empiezan a empeorar en el jefe de los hermanos Schultz.

Todos sabían que este personaje estaba loco, pero cuando se recibe dinero en los bolsillos las personas suelen pasar por alto las locuras de los millonarios y suelen aplaudírselas, y celebrárselas hasta que ocurren las desgracias.

Lamentablemente Foxcatcher termina en una desgracia como ya lo había anticipado, termina en la muerte del hermano mayor de los Schultz, a manos de un loco, paranoico que había conseguido todo lo que había querido en su vida y aun así no se sentía pleno ni lleno con lo que tenía.

El film es cruel, duro y cruento, sin embargo, y lo más triste es que es basado en hechos reales lo que hace que se sienta mucho más duro.
