Reptile: Un thriller psicológico perturbador y original
In a quiet New England town, Detective Tom Nichols investigates the brutal murder of a young real estate agent. As the investigation progresses, Nichols discovers that the case is more complex than it seems, and that his own beliefs and memories are at stake.
The more he investigates the case the more he realizes how complex it is, and that not everything is as it seems, plus he will be caught in a spider's web, as corruption has also made its way into the police force.
Personally, and at least living in Latin America, we always see that the high positions of the Police are generally associated with the big organized crime (or at least that is what we suspect or think) I don't know how it will be in the USA, but I don't think that will happen there.
Reptile is a psychological thriller that explores the themes of identity, memory and truth. The film is a masterpiece of cinematography, with masterful direction, an exceptional performance by Benicio del Toro and a haunting and mysterious atmosphere.
As in almost all his works, Benicio del Toro once again does fantastic and makes you put yourself in the shoes of the detective who has to be careful, suspecting his own colleagues and partners because in such a case anyone can be involved.
Director Grant Singer uses a combination of cinematic techniques to create an eerie and mysterious atmosphere. Tight shots and choppy shots are used to emphasize the sense of oppression and stress that Detective Nichols experiences.
The film's soundtrack is haunting and atmospheric, and helps to create a sense of tension and suspense. The music in this film is truly good or perhaps something much more than good, as it subtly makes moments of tension more acute, due to the sublime integration of the shots, the momentum and the sounds.
Benicio del Toro delivers a masterful performance as Detective Nichols. Nichols is a complex and tormented character, and del Toro manages to convey his pain, rage and confusion convincingly.
As he manages to convey that feeling of searching within for the truth, of doubting even oneself when it comes to seeking or finding the truth, his years of hostile work have turned him into a cold, hard man, he has lost tact and sensitivity.
In the end he must follow his instinct to solve the case, the case is complicated when a large number of people and interests are involved, there are many more elements than it may seem at first.
Reptiles is a fascinating and disturbing film that will keep you on edge until the very end. The film is a well-made psychological thriller that tackles interesting themes in an original and provocative way. I think it is a recommended film if you like police drama, and crime from a first person perspective, the film is very enjoyable.

En lo personal y al menos viviendo en Latinoamérica siempre vemos que los altos cargos de la Policía generalmente están asociados a los grandes del crimen organizados (o al menos eso es lo que sospechamos o pensamos) no sé cómo será en USA, pero no creo que eso suceda allá.
Reptile es un thriller psicológico que explora los temas de la identidad, la memoria y la verdad. La película es una obra maestra de la cinematografía, con una dirección magistral, una interpretación excepcional de Benicio del Toro y una atmósfera inquietante y misteriosa.
Como en casi todas sus obras Benicio del Toro vuelve hacer fantástico y hace que te pongas en la piel del detective que tiene que ir con cuidado, sospechando de sus propios colegas y compañeros pues en dicho caso cualquiera puede estar involucrado.
El director Grant Singer utiliza una combinación de técnicas cinematográficas para crear una atmósfera inquietante y misteriosa. Los planos cerrados y los planos picados se utilizan para enfatizar la sensación de opresión y el estrés que el detective Nichols experimenta.
La banda sonora de la película es inquietante y atmosférica, y ayuda a crear una sensación de tensión y suspense. La música en esta película verdaderamente buena o quizás algo mucho más que buena, pues de manera muy sutil hace que en los momentos de tensión de agudicen más, debido a la sublime integración de los planos, el momento y los sonidos.
Benicio del Toro ofrece una interpretación magistral como el detective Nichols. Nichols es un personaje complejo y atormentado, y del Toro logra transmitir su dolor, su rabia y su confusión de manera convincente.
Al igual que logra transmitir ese sentimiento de búsqueda interior por la verdad, de dudar de incluso de uno mismo cuando se trata de buscar o encontrar la verdad, sus años trabajo tan hostil, lo han convertido en un hombre duro y frío, ha perdido el tacto y la sensibilidad.
Al final deberá seguir su instinto para poder resolver el caso, el caso se complica cuando se ven envueltos un gran número de personas e intereses, hay muchos más elementos de lo que al principio puede llegar a parecer.
Reptiles es una película fascinante y perturbadora que te mantendrá en vilo hasta el final. La película es un thriller psicológico bien hecho que aborda temas interesantes de manera original y provocativa. Creo que es una película recomendada si te gusta el drama policial, y lo criminalístico desde una perspectiva en primera persona, la película se disfruta mucho.
