Olympic Games unnoticed || The story of Oksana Masters

An excellent Olympic Games were held in Tokyo 2020, with the quality that was expected with stories of overcoming that make more than one get goosebumps when they hear them, but the only bad thing about it was that they went unnoticed.

That's right, the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games went almost unnoticed, this is almost normal, although "normal" does not mean it's right. But well I leave the moralistic aside. It was a success, I repeat, the logistics of this kind of events must be complicated at an extreme level, for all that it implies.

Less attention

A question I have always asked myself is why this kind of events go unnoticed, they are like women's sports, they don't get the attention that male sports get. This is a truth that no one can argue with me or that no one can answer.

Quality

I watched some of the competitions of these Paralympic Games and the truth is that I was amazed by the quality shown by the athletes, I say this in truth and with all the honesty in the world. I am not trying anything weird, for example, the track and field competitions blew me away because of the speed the athletes were reaching.
They are truly amazing and worthy of recognition.

Calidad

Stories

The stories that leave us in these Olympic games are praiseworthy, it leaves me with mixed feelings, because I do not know what I feel when I see people with disabilities conquer dreams that are not different from any other type of athlete, which is to hang an Olympic medal on his head.

So while searching in the browser I discovered the incredible story of Oksana Master, unfortunately I could not see live her competitions, otherwise I swear I would have been even more moved.

Life does not usually smile to many people, I mean life usually hits harder to some than to others, Oksana is one of those people that life, destiny, you can call it what you want, is hostile from birth.

Masters had the misfortune to be born in Ukraine in 1989, just three years after the biggest environmental catastrophe in history, the Chernobyl accident.

The levels of radiation in the environment caused a series of malformations in Osaka, who was born with only one kidney, caused problems in his development, was born with six toes on each foot, has a left leg fifteen centimeters smaller than the right and has no tibias.

Historias

Life with this type of problem is not easy for anyone and only those with a true fighting spirit usually get through it. Osaka is one of those people. He underwent several surgeries and in one of them they had to amputate his legs.

His first years of life he spent in several orphanages, in some of them he suffered mistreatment, "in case you haven't noticed, life is not very fair" says a character in a movie, and to tell the truth he is absolutely right.

As I said before these terrible circumstances are the ones that forge the character of people, circumstances that no one asks to live and that no one should live, Oksana formed her character in those circumstances in not allowing anything to defeat her, Oksana did not need to hang a medal to be more than a winner.
Oksana's life took a 180 degree turn when she was adopted by an American and emigrated to the United States.

So Oksana saw in sports a way to strengthen her body, because her mind was already indestructible, Oksana saw how she could get ahead in life, perhaps by playing sports she felt as free as anyone else.

Less than a week ago the Ukrainian was able to crown a life dedicated to bettering herself, a life that had been hostile from birth, a life in which overcoming even the most basic aspects must have been difficult.
At the age of 31, Oksana won an Olympic medal by winning the cycling time trial final.

Her body must have scars due to the damage of the surgeries, I hope this woman does not have scars in her heart, Oksana is one of those people that even make me feel bad about myself, but she serves as an inspiration for those who feel that life is dark and there is no way out.

Let the next generation's role models be athletes like Oksana who have overcome even life itself to achieve the dream, impossible is nothing, let the rooms of girls and boys be filled with posters of such athletes.
Oksana's exemplary life deserves a medal for never giving up or giving in.

Very interesting story and glad you found this. Chernobyl affected so many people and not just the ones at the time of the accident.

Thank you very much.
And exactly Chernobyl was a disaster for the people who lived through it and for their children, the collateral damage was incalculable.
Surely there are many incredible stories that deserve to be told.
