Goodbye Lenin! Movie Review
You are the best and the biggest fanatic defender of the communist regime, suddenly you see that your son is on the ground being beaten by the police because he supports a march against the government. That can't be happening, not to you, not to your son. So you get something, you don't know what, you start to feel bad, and you fall into a deep coma....
This is the premise of the film Goodbye Lenin, set in a communist Germany. In a somewhat turbulent time, difficult for the government and for the people, discontent grows more and more and the situation does not seem to improve at all.
You wake up from the coma miraculously, everything has changed, the wall has fallen, Lenin has left, democracy has won, you haven't heard anything, for you the world is still communist. After eight months in which the whole world you knew has changed, with a delicate state of health, the doctors say that you should avoid any strong emotion, since it could be fatal and the wall would not be the only thing that would fall.
What do you do in this case then? Knowing that your mother may die and that your heart would not stand to know that what she believed in no longer exists. After her husband left her, the government was everything to her. Her son Alex decides to create a big lie for her. He decides to make her believe that nothing has happened all this time, Alex decides to create this fictitious world for her. He decides to continue using communist products, and use all the communist materials he can find.
In this way Alex starts to create a fictitious world for her, he starts to elaborate and falsify the news (just like the government usually does on a massive scale). Her son starts to do everything impossible so that his mother doesn't suffer any mishap and that she feels well as well as possible.
Worse a problem occurs, the communist material is no longer being produced. He can't keep repeating news and faking it forever, at some point he has to give in. His son has to even get into dumpsters so he can reuse the communist materials he can find there.
As the saying goes, lies have short legs, you can't keep lying all the time, at some point the lies are going to come out, nothing is hidden. Everything can collapse from one moment to the next.
In fact, everything collapses the day she decides to venture out into the street, as her health has improved and what happens. Boom! It's all been a lie, she realizes her son has been lying to her her glorious communist government is gone.
Goodbye Lenin is quite a different comedy, quite interesting, I think I missed a few references. The fact that it approaches lying in a different way, because in the first place it was the government that lied to its citizens and this they decided to follow him or believe him.
It is a comedy that explores the changes and the melancholy that people can feel in the face of historical changes, the way we remember things and the places where we have been happy. But also the effort involved in maintaining lies and how wearing it is to maintain them. Goodbye Lenin.

Esta es la premisa de la película Goodbye Lenin, ambientada en una Alemania comunista. En una época un tanto convulsa, difícil para el Gobierno y para las personas, el descontento crece cada vez más y la situación no parece mejorar para nada.
Despertás del coma milagrosamente, todo ha cambiado, el muro ha caído, Lenin se ha ido, ha ganado la democracia vos no te has enterado de nada, para vos el mundo sigue siendo comunista. Tras ocho meses en donde todo el mundo que conocías ha cambiado, con un estado de salud delicado, los médicos dicen que debes de evitar cualquier emoción fuerte, ya que podría ser mortal y ya el muro no sería lo único que caería.
¿Qué se hace en este caso entonces? Saber que su madre puede morir y que su corazón no aguantaría saber que en lo que ella creía ya no existe más. Después de que su marido la abandonara, el Gobierno lo era todo para ella. Su hijo Alex decide crear una gran mentira para ella. Decide hacerle creer que nada ha pasado en todo este tiempo, Alex decide crear este mundo ficticio para ella. El decide continuar usando los productos comunistas, y usar todos los materiales comunistas que pueda encontrar.
De este modo Alex comienza a crear un mundo fictisio para ella, comienza a elaborar y falsificar las noticias (al igual que el gobierno suele hacerlo en escala masiva). Su hijo comienza a hacer todo lo imposible porque su madre no sufra ningún percance y que se sienta bien lo mejor posible.
Peor ocurre un problema, el material comunista ya no se está produciendo más. No puede estar repitiendo noticias y falsificarlas para siempre, en algún momento tiene que ceder. Su hijo tiene que incluso meterse en contenedores de basura para poder reusar los materiales comunistas que ahí se pueda encontrar.
Como dice el dicho, las mentiras tiene patas cortas, no puedes mantenerte mintiendo todo el tiempo, en algún momento las mentiras van a salir a luz, nada hay oculto. Todo se puede derrumbar de un momento a otro.
De hecho, todo se derrumba el día que ella decide aventurarse a salir a la calle, ya que su salud ha mejorado y que pasa. Bum! Todo ha sido una mentira, se da cuenta que su hijo le ha estado mintiendo su glorioso gobierno comunista se ha ido.
Goodbye Lenin es una comedia bastante diferente, bastante interesante, creo que se me pasaron por alto algunas referencias. El hecho que se aborde la mentira de una forma diferente, pues en primer lugar fue el Gobierno que mintió a sus ciudadanos y esto decidieron seguirle o creerle.
Es una comedia que explora los cambios y la melancolía que las personas pueden sentir ante los cambios históricos, la forma que recordamos las cosas y los lugares en los que hemos sido felices. Pero también el esfuerzo que supone mantener mentiras y lo desgastante que es mantenerlas. Goodbye Lenin.
Hola, me hizo recordar "La vida es bella", donde las mentiras hicieron creerle a un niño que la guerra y la Alemania Nazi se trataba de un juego, claro, quizás fue más fácil mantener la mentira porque se trataba de un niño. Esta comedia la pasaron hace poco por TV, pero no pude verla, la buscaré a ver si la encuentro. Que difícil para el protagonista y a la vez cómico para el espectador ver las ocurrencias del personaje para que seguir creando el ambiente comunista y mantenerlo para que su madre no descubra la verdad, claro que me gustaría ver eso.
No he visto la vida es bella todavía, así que no puedo saber a ciencia exacta la comparación, pero si la película es entretenida y cómica aunque trágica de algún modo
