Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge #6 - CARRION SHADE
Hi guys. Necrozark here again, sharing my battle challenge for CARRION SHADE. I don't usually use death splinter, and when using it, I rarely use CARRION SHADE. This was really a challenge for me.
Lore
A carrion shade is a dark-winged bird that feeds off of the dead bodies of animals and people. They often flock to battlefields and dangerous parts of the wilderness where there are sure to be corpses. They travel in small groups and have no natural predators. Most people fear the carrion shades, though. For to see a group following you is to know your life is in danger. Tales whispered by the elder wise women claim that if you see a single carrion shade perched outside your home, then someone you love will die that night.
My CARRION SHADE stats.
RARITY | COMMON | |

LEVEL | 3 | |
MANA | 1 | |
MELEE DAMAGE | 1 | |
SPEED | 2 | |
ARMOR | 0 | |
HEALTH | 2 |
NAME | DETAILS | |
---|---|---|
FLYING | Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability | |
RULESET
NAME | DETAILS | |
---|---|---|
HEALED OUT | All healing abilities are removed from Monsters and Summoners. | |
EQUALIZER | The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health. |
STRATEGY
I based my strategy on the ruleset and the enemy match history. He loves going for earth magic and range damage with life splinter, and he also does not have MYLOR CROWLING. So I chose death line up to counter magic, and picked sneak monsters that will counter range attack monsters, in case he went for range damage.
LINE UP
NAME | POSITION | DETAILS |
---|---|---|
THADDIUS BROOD | SUMMONER | THADDIUS BROOD to counter any magic damage and giving the enemy debuff -1 HP for my monsters to kill them faster. |
CRYPT BEETLE | 1 | I picked CRYPT BEETLE for my first position, because of his ability Shield that will make him an excellent tank and with the Equalizer ruleset, it will remove his weakness for having a low HP. |
CORPSE FIEND | 2 | I placed CORPSE FIEND in my second position, same reason with CRYPT BEETLE, the ruleset will boost it's HP and will be able to tank damage while my other monsters will kill the rest. |
CARRION SHADE | 3 | In the third position, I went for CARRION SHADE, again with the same reason with first and second position. His Flying ability as well would be very helpful in case the enemy went for range damage. |
UNDEAD BADGER | 4 | I got UNDEAD BADGER. Because of his speed, he will be the first monster to attack the enemy backline and removing the enemy armor, while my main damage dealer will kill them. |
SILENT SHA-VI | 5 | SILENT SHAVI in the 5th position, he will be the secondary damage dealer. |
SAND WORM | 6 | For the last position monster, I went for SAND WORM he will be my main damage dealer for the sneak. |
BATTLE
The enemy went for range damage, that made me really confident on winning this game. And in my opinion, the only reason that I will lose this game, is if all my monsters will miss their shots.
ROUND 1
At the start of the round, the enemy chipping off damage against my first position monster, while all of my Sneak monsters, missed all of their damage against his AIR ELEMENTAL, which is very unlucky.
ROUND 2
I lost both my CREEPT BEETLE and CORPSE FIEND and my SAND WORM is still missing its shots against the enemy AIR ELEMENTAL which puts me now at disadvantage with lower number of monsters.
ROUND 3
On this round, all the enemy range monsters missed it's shots against my CARRION SHADE, thanks to his ability Flying ability. While my sneak monsters killed his Air elemental, and that made his other monsters vulnerable to sneaks.
ROUND 4 & 5
We both traded kills in this round. I killed both of his position 4 and 5 consecutively while losing both my CARRION SHADE and UNDEAD BADGER.
ROUND 6 - 12
At the final round I have 2 remaining monster while he has 3. However, he only has Chain Golem as his remaining damage dealer while I have Sand Worm and Silent Sha-Vi. I out damage my enemy, and after killing his Chain Golem at the 9th round, my Sand Worm handled the rest and won the game.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Since I won the game, I can confidently say that the strategy worked. Under this mana cost and ruleset, this line up is really solid. However, if the enemy went for MYLOR CROWLING or TARSA with sneak monsters, it will be another story. However, since I did not see them being used in the enemy history, I picked this line up.
Do you like the CARRION SHADE? Why or why not?
I like all Cards/Splinters. However, I rarely use Carrion Shade because in my opinion there more better cards than him. I think he will only be usable on very low mana games(12-15) and under the ruleset Equalizer and Earthquake that will make him more powerful.
