Broken Head Nature Reserve, NSW, Australia.
I have been living in Byron Bay Town, NSW for a few years now and am surrounded by pristine beaches but still till this day, I have not got around to seeing or walking them all, so last weekend we decided to explore Broken Head Beach which surprisingly is only 9km from Byron Bay Beach, it's a beautiful white powdery beach stretching for whopping 6.5km along the northern coastline of NSW.
We started our hike from Byron Bay Beach along the coastline walkways heading towards Broken Head Beach though to the Nature Reserve in Broken Head Town passing by Shaw's Bay along the way a total of about 12km to reach the Broken Head Nature Reserve and a hike that would take us through headlands and rainforest filled with singing birds while enjoying the pristine views along the way.
There is a trail called the Three Sisters Walking Track from Byron Bay that will take us through to Broken Head Beach going pass Shaw's Bay were family's will gather on weekends with there kids for a picnic day out a beautiful area were the kids can have fun playing on the green grass or swim in the calm Shaw's Bay.

We continued pass Shaw's Bay following the Three Sisters Walking Track up over the coastline of Byron Bay Beach heading towards the Nature Reverse in Broken Head Town, walking through this rainforest was just so peaceful away from all humans and traffic seeing just lush green forest with these tall white eucalyptus trees and wildlife all around us listening to the birds singing and all the little reptile lizards running away from us made you feel like we were in the Amazon jungle.
At this point we were about 2km from our our destination still walking along the Three Sisters Walking Track following the coastline to Broken Head Town and still enjoying the pristine beach views along the way with a cool breeze of fresh air in our faces keeping us cool.
Still following the track through the rainforest we came to another sign saying to follow the Three Sisters Rock Track to Broken Head Nature Reserve Park so we switched tracks and walking a further 1km down this track we came to another sign saying welcome to Broken Head Nature Reverse we had survived the 12km hike to this point which felt we had done, it fairly easily but we all did have sore calf muscle's none of us had been on a long hike like this in quite a while.

Coming out of the rainforest we had a huge open area in front of us with a coffee shop, souvenir shop and a toilet block which was all painted up, in beautiful graffiti artwork and also a playground for the kids, this was like a rest area before continuing on into the Broken Head Nature Reserve National Park.

Broken Head Nature Reserve Park is no small park, it's a huge national park the size of 98 hectares in size leading you along walkways giving you superb headland views with steeped up clad slopes taking you into the deep rainforest and eventually leading you back down to more pristine beaches.

We were not obviously going to do this second leg of this journey as it was late afternoon already by the time we gotten to this point and we had already done over 12km of hiking up and down hills through rainforest so we just wondered around the base of the Nature Reserve Park along the Creek and called it the day but we will be back to continue from were we left off to see more of this amazing nature on our NSW coastline. We had a friend pick us up at Broken Head Nature Reserve Park and home we went to bath our sore leg muscle's.
