The story of Teo and Joe - Two dachshund brothers 🐶🐶

Three years ago I had to take care of two dogs, Teo and Joe. They were brothers, both of them lived with their mother Lupe until she passed away, and I knew them since they were puppies. ♥️

Taking care of them was not an easy task. At those times I was very busy every day and had to stay with them mainly on weekends or between days, feed them and walk before going to work in the morning and also at night. Most of the time they were quiet but also a bit mischievous. Teo is the black one and Joe is brown one. So Teo liked to escape the apartment and run down the stairs, but he was also sweet and loving and he liked to sleep with me. Even if I put it on his own bed, in the morning I would often find it on mine, haha.

In the morning it was a bit difficult because I usually slept little, but they were always ready for their routine very early in the morning. and as soon as I started to get dressed they began to bark and get excited because they already wanted to go out. 😅

As for Joe, I had to be more careful, he had suffered from a disease that left him paralyzed and he couldn´t move his hind legs or control his sphincters. So I often had to clean the floor. I also had to take care not to dirty the elevator or other parts of the building when I took them out for a walk. Joe didn´t have a wheelchair, so I had to bandage his legs daily and remove the bandages at night. To be able to walk him, I held the strap around his waist. It was a particular way of walking a dog, so it always attracted attention on the streets and I often had to explain the situation to the strangers...

At ehe end of 2018 Teo had a sudden health issue and passed away one night. After that, Joe stayed alone for a few months in another house, then he was taken away and I haven´t saw him again since 2019.

Taking care of them had good and hard moments, but I miss them both. They were really good doggies who teached me to be more patient, that´s for sure! I don´t regret it.

Dachshunds are quirky creatures. It was kind of you take care of a paralysed dog,it's not easy.

Indeed, they´re very peculiar physically, and also have great hunting instincts. But other than that, they were very good dogs. And thanks! I did my best while I could, he deserved it.

they are a very beautiful pair of puppies, I'm sure it was quite an experience for you to have them at home. Pets often change our routines, but they give us so much love and energy, that we are happy to make these changes.

Yes, you´re totally right. Actually they were my uncle´s dogs, so I visited them few days a week. But even in that time they change a lot my own routine, and it was hard sometimes but good. Dogs are special 😌
