Memorable Nature and Culture at Quebec City (Walled City)

Since 1985, Quebec City, the capital of the Canadian province of Quebec, has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. With its nature and culture, Quebec Metropolis is by far the most impressive city not just in the country but also in North America.

There are no direct flights available from Turkey to Quebec City. You may go to Quebec City in as little as 16 hours, including flight time and waiting time, if you take connecting flights. The second option is to fly to Montreal first, which will take 10 hours.

One of my most terrible recollections is of my first visit to this city. On days when it was impossible to stand on the street for even 2 minutes in a frigid December, I was on the streets of Quebec City without knowing why. This very frigid weather had surpassed my expectations.

While a part of me wanted to explore this new city, my fingers began to signal me to enter tight rooms because I couldn't feel them due to the cold. This location was very distinct from the typical North American cities. However, no matter how lovely it was, the - 40 °C, which I had difficulty saying, prevented me from enjoying it.

I didn't schedule my next visit here to coincide with a frigid winter day, but rather a warm autumn day when the trees begin to change color, and I began to fall in love with this nation because of the breathtaking beauty I witnessed.

The castle was built in 1750 by the French and later reinforced by the British to control the Saint Lawrence River and its environs. Walking along the 200-year-old wooden Dufferin Terrace is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Chateau Frontenac is a beautiful structure that deserves to be the city's icon. It was erected in the late 1800s for the Canadian Pacific Railway. In the 1940s, it was the site of a meeting between Roosevelt and Churchill. Since 1893, it has been utilized as a hotel.

The Old Harbor, located on the St. Lawrence River, is home to a marina, cruise ship port, and a number of quaint tiny streets. The streets of Rue Saint-Paul, Rue Sous-le-Cap, Rue Sault-au-Matelot, and Rue Saint-Pierre are all worth seeing.

The impressive structures in Quebec City include Notre Dame Cathedral and the Hotel De Ville (Town Hall). The small park in the middle of the two buildings is great for sitting and taking in the scenery.

With its restaurants, cafes, pubs, art galleries, and souvenir shops, the street (Rue St.-Jean) spanning from the Cathedral to the Saint Jean gate is bustling at practically all hours of the day.

The Winter Festival, which features winter celebrations and ice sculptures, the old Château Frontenac Hotel, whose silhouette has become synonymous with the city, and the Hôtel de Glace (Ice Hotel), where you may sleep on ice beds, are all popular attractions in Quebec City. However, I told myself that I would not come here in the winter and stay at the Ice Hotel, claiming that the winter season is not for me.

Quebec City is so beautiful that I informed my mother, who was visiting me in Toronto, that it was the most romantic city in North America to visit, and I brought her here right away. Our stay at the Chateau Frontenac Hotel made our trip to the city unforgettable.

The picturesque city, where we got lost in its small alleyways packed with graffiti and listened to buskers, left an indelible impact on our eastern Canadian tour.

The fact that English is rarely spoken in the city and that the French that caresses our ears is usually spoken has been very effective in evoking a European vibe in Canada's French area.

Even though it has its share of long winter seasons, Quebec City, which I think is like a fairy tale, is a location that should be added to North America and Canada excursions in the spring and summer. You will agree with me after seeing this place. And who knows, maybe you'll stay at the Hotel de Glace (Ice Hotel). Is it going to be obvious?
