The Busy lanes- Original Watercolor Painting

The busy lanes of Dhaka tend to have a bit of very bad luck but sometimes many stories are hidden in it with the formation which is not quite vivid to the eyes. With enlightening such stories, I attempted to paint them with precision.

Rickshaw is a very common transportation available in Dhaka city, Bangladesh. On a windy night, using a rickshaw is a blessing. Although, our rickshaw pullers have to struggle a lot. Their days go by with hardship, and it cannot be ignored. Yet, with this struggle, they give their best at giving us service. Rickshaw pullers are of different ages, some are teenagers, most are adults and some are aged.

Couples spend some romantic moments on a drive back to or fro home. Some hold their children tightly so they do not fall. Some support their elders so they do not fall. Friends sit together adjusting while two sits in luxury and the other two struggling on the top sear where it is very hard to actually sit. Eventhough one has to go through so much, still a rickshaw ride is one splendid one, especially on a windy day. Distances which are little, but yet far, a rickshaw ride is more feasible. In the many busy streets of Dhaka, the rickshaw rides are always charming, even if you are along.

Materials Used -

• Brush type: round
• Brush size: 0,1,2,5
• Watercolors
• Palette
• Container of water
• Empty jars & tissue papers (gloves)

Tips -

• Decide your painting base and visualize.
• Set the scene that you want to draw.
• Practice different types of strokes for finding which suits your visualization for each perspective. Here, strokes don't play any major role.
• Having a perspective of light is very important along with that of shadow
• Practice of color combination is quite a necessity in portraying a mood for background
• Precise and specific details were quite time-consuming.
• This piece was quite time consuming but I really wanted to complete it nicely
