My Collection is Growing|| New Silvers Acquired

For the longest time, I have wanted to start a collection of some sort and after going through the @ssg-community, I was sort of inspired to start collecting coins but, I didn't know where to begin.

Luckily enough I was gifted a zlote coin by @samostically which became the first coin in my collection and it made me really want to have more.

A few days ago, I was rummaging through my mother's things finding what to steal as usual because as the last child that has become my role, and while doing that I came across some coins.

After asking her if I could have them and she reluctantly said yes, I went on research mode to find out about my new additions.

The coins were a little beat up so it was pretty hard using google lens to search them up but after trying a few times, I finally figure them out.

1998 United Arab Emirate 1 Durham

IMG_20220301_093649_708~3.jpg

the first coin was a united Arab emirate dirham, probably from when she visited Dubai.

It is made out of a copper nickel metal and on some websites I check, it is valued at about 2-3 dollars.

1974 Korea 50 Won, South Korean

IMG_20220301_093716_971~3.jpg

The second coin was a 1974 Korea 50 won and it is made with copper, nickel, and zinc, I don't know how she got this coin to be honest, but I am glad she did because I now have it.

This coin is currently valued at 0.50 dollars based on certain websites I checked.

Nigerian One Naira

IMG_20220301_093706_926~3.jpg

I think this is one of the most useless coins but it brings a bit of reminiscent since it is from my country and we no longer use coins.

With that said, it is made out of steel plated with brass which might be why it was the worst out of the bunch.

It is currently valued at 0.00088 dollars which is expected.

Finally,

I feel like most of the coins I have aren't the most valued but I am glad that my collection is gradually growing and maybe soon, I'll be able to invest in more valuable silver.

ohhhhhhhhhhh i love this post!!! you're turning into a stacker??? hehehehe
this is so cool!!!

well you know what?

coins actually have the value that someone pays for it. So maybe the value is only 0.00088 dollars for that Naira because no one has given it more value.

But for me???

oh my goodness. I would love it.
LOVE it!!! To see a coin that is from the country of so many of my loved ones here on Hive??? like family? to know that it is no longer even used??? which makes it even more rare???

to see how old and damaged it is - and wonder... how many hands must have touched it? used it? what stories could this little coin tell???

And I tell you that I would pay $10 to have it. hehehe

so there you have it. now your collection is worth a bit more! If only you were here - I would happily give you $10 for it right now. hehehehe

Keep it for me? and when I see you in the future some day - we will trade

love this post!!!! and so glad that you're in the silver community! hehehehe some of my favorite people reside here!!!

Maybe one day we will see and ill get to trade it with you, that will be amazing 😊

I love the silver community, so many amazing coins, I wish I could get my hands on more, maybe I could kidnap yours when we see, hehehe

Didn't know you were a stacker. I used to collect coins when I was a bit younger, but not sure where they are any more.

This post reminded me of the bag full of old coins my father had kept. Lol. His grand sons (mine, and my brother's kids have lost them all by playing). Lol.

Just imagine you had them, who knows how valuable they would have been.

They wouldn't have any monetary value, but yes there are memories attached that make them valuable

Keep stacking girl!
I like that you collect coins, and these ones that you have are quite a variety of value.

Who knows, you might just have a future gem in that collection of yours 🙂

Maybe soon, there are a bunch of websites that sell coins in packs, tempted to buy some.

Pretty fasinating right?

I was wondering about these coin enthusiasts, why they do it. Some legay, history that brings charm to them more than their actual value right!!

I am not really doing it for the value also, just for the collection at least for now.

The whole concept intrigues me.

It's been long I saw those coins. I don't know if they still have value now but good for memories and to show next generation what we were using at a time

A lot of them don't but it's for the sake of memories like you said.

Congratulations! Just keep doing what you love. Those coins feel so old (although they are literally old). You can somehow imagine the time when they were still used in trading.

Yeah, they truly are so old, beings back memories especially with the naira.

My 1 Cent Canadian pennies have been de-monetized back in 2014 but Canadian pennies that are 1996 and earlier are currently worth at least 2.5 cents in copper value alone so I keep them for their commodity value just like my silver coins.

That is pretty nice, I am sure with more time, it would keep increasing.

I wish I kept more coins, used to have a bunch.
