Twitter vs. Threads | Can Hive Ever Compete?

Now that Elon has taken over Twitter, we're seeing some dramatic changes take shape. Twitter was once a slow moving, non-innovating ship.

They did what they needed to survive and scrape by but at the end of the day, they made little-to-no technological improvements under old leadership.

Elon is now coming in and shaking up everything. He's already added some long-requested features to Twitter including the most recent change which makes lists better to navigate for a more intuitive content segmentation process.

With Threads, we're aiming at the Crypto Twitter segment of Twitter. I think we have a real shot to build something incredible. Yes, it's more niche than Twitter itself in terms of platform but sometimes that's a great thing.

Look to the explosion of other platforms and see why having certain niche characteristics can actually spur growth as opposed to stunt it.

I hope you are aware of the @dbuzz app. I recently browsed the platform and it looks eerily similar to #twitter. I hope the new UI is much better than dbuzz. There are features on that platform that I would like to see on #threads. Please take notice.

Dbuzz is doing cool work and I wish them the best

That said, I don't think their model will work long-term. Twitter would have never worked if you could only post 2x per day and got yelled at by some internal brigade of people who don't want to see you "shit post"

Project Blank is entirely different than Dbuzz in quite a lot of ways.

I've seen you use https://leofinance.io/threads which is the early alpha testing of our Project Blank backend - so you should already be well aware of how different threads is than Dbuzz.

Again, wish them all the best. I am pro-hive and if they are working toward making Hive better, then I am pro-dbuzz too

Thanks Khal for your thoughts. I understand the limitations with Dbuzz app but there are certain key features that may help thread users. I am hoping to use the new UI and test it for myself.

Hrmmm. I am not sure what you are talking about here @khaleelkazi; on D.Buzz you CAN post more than two times as day... in fact, you can post as much as your RC/HP allows you to.

What some people see as "shit post", well, that is not under our control, that is a reflection by the community and not from anything that is in control of D.Buzz, we are providing a platform for microblogging. If you post content that is cool and thoughtful, then I do not see people getting attacked...

That being said, we are working on the next framework for D.Buzz that will open the doors to more ways to post and onboard people; the next framework will have ways for content creators to get rewarded with other tokens, not just HIVE, removing the downvoting that I think you are referring to.

I work with the @DBuzz team, managing, content making, and more.

I am not sure why people keep overlooking D.Buzz, we have been here on HIVE since the start as the microblogging platform, and we keep growing and rolling out new features... what we have planed for 2023 will blow everyone away...

However, I think, For HIVE to reach its full potential, we need to focus on our respective strengths. LEO should focus on building finance applications, such as wallets and payment systems. DBUZZ can focus on micro-blogging and creating a platform for content curation. Doing so will strengthen our entire ecosystem, as each part of it will be able to specialize and hone in on their respective niches. This will make HIVE a more attractive prospect to investors, as they will be able to see the power of the platform in a more focused and comprehensive way. Ultimately, with the right focus, HIVE can become a major player in the crypto space.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am looking forward to see what updates will be rolled out in 2023. For users like I, it is incredible to have front end options and I will use platforms and apps that suit me the most with whatever objectives I may have.
As a user, the only problem I have with DBuzz is the lack of freedom and how my buzzes are treated. The short form content are policed by Hive people as spam and that limits my ability to engage freely. That's the only thing that is holding me back from using Dbuzz.
With #threads, there is no such limitation and policing.

I think niching down like that is going to be a critical element to grow. Just need to figure out what "crypto twitter" wants on the UI and platform that twitter doesn't offer and offer it here.

Give the community the tools. From there, they decide how to use them

Question, talking about Leo threads, or Hive threads in general? The limitation is the Leo brand itself. Due to Leo focusing on finance, I don't feel that Leo now is ready. It either has to change from just finance for threads to take over Twitter or have threads be enabled for all Hive communities. This is just my thought process.

since people become mad if you post more than once a day I would say it could become difficult for more simple content.
