The New Cent Tribe: My 2 Cents Anas Cash Colones Pfennig Stotinkas or Centavos

”Blackbirds tend to like shiny things.” ~ The Bloody Raven

Two weeks ago I came across an eye-catching post with the image of a prone penny jar with it’s hoard of shiny, and not so shiny, copper pennies spread all over a countertop.

Every household practically has a penny jar whose sole purpose is to accumulate low value coins until someone had the time and energy to take the jar to a local self-serve Coin counting machine which happens to be located at a supermarket. A receipt is issued, reimbursed at the checkout and funds are spent back into the economy. Practical everyday commerce.

I usually check the Coin Reject bin and I do find ‘Non-compliant’ coins. Click Here from various countries.

But back to the original subject, Hive’s new Tribe #CENT. Especially for the #silvergoldstackers Community if you guys have some extra TAG room on your coin posts to consider adding the #cent tag.

What is CENT about?

It is the brainchild of administrator @anadolu, a community focused on subjects related to economics like; Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, International and domestic? economics, home economics (this would be up @silversaver888’s alley), GDP components like agricultural, labor, tourism economics. And democracy. Then there are the deeper topics that make my own head spin; Investment, Finance, Defi and more.

Automatically there will be some overlap with Leofinance's niche but with more the basics, organic feel and everyday practicality. And hopefully more in a laypersons language that is understandable for me. I didn’t do very well in college level economics anyway and at the time bore little relation to my Nursing training.

Feeling my way around the posts I had to find out how would we of the #silvergoldstackers could fit in a Relevant Cent post

image.png

There we go. At least gold and silver is a relevant subject under the guidelines discussed and with the policies still being a work in progress at this time. Subject relevance will be politely enforced so don’t expect me to write about my 2021 spaghetti squash crop under the CENT tag.

CENT, the native token

What’s a tribe without a token? A distinguishing difference is that this token will act as a stable coin at the nominal value of $0.01 USD or about 0.03 Hive give or take. I’m not sure how it’s done but I am just starting out with an initial 600 CENT staked on Hive-Engine to give this tribe a little test drive.

Here are some Cent Token details from the Admin himself.

CENT on Hive Engine: https://hive-engine.com/?p=market&t=CENT

Members of the #silvergoldstackers, Preppers, Coin collectors, Stacking pirates, Stackitis patients or those with an Economics bent, please check it out and give #CENT for your own appraisal. I’m Not Financial advisor, just lucky, but at least I have a place where I can post my penny collection.

Most of my UK coins are from my Grandfather's collection as he got most of them from military personnel traveling by train across Canada to and from WW2. He ran a diner at one of the Train stops of a Prairie town where he lived at.

Looking forward to the Sweepstakes @monsterjamgold

I have big jar of pennies that I need to go through to pull out all the pre 1982 ones. What a job that’s gonna be. I’ll check out #cent.

I inherited the huge glass jar of pennies from my Mom and Dad when he passed away.
My Mom couldn't bother with sorting it out and gave it to me. It was heavy being full with Canadian and US pennies and a smattering of old nickels too. Some US Dimes and quarters mixed in. It was quite the job so I let my kids take over it.

Thanks for commenting @silverd510

Looks like those Water Cooler jugs. much safer.
Mine was in a big old 64oz glass jar packed full and it slipped out from hands and I can't begin to describe the mess.

Be sure to save those older pre-1982 pennies.
According to Coinflation.com their commodity value is +2.5x its face value.

Always, with love 🤗 🌺 💖

Most of the older pennies came from my grandfather and Father, some came from a regular local coin show while a good handful of modern foreign coins came from Coinstar change counting machines. It's amazing what customers leave behind in the coin reject tray. I've even managed to score a silver dime.

Interesting @kerrislravenhill I haven't heard of CENT token, I will give it a look!😀
I would also like to hear what others have to say about this token......
How did you run across this on Hive-engine?

I've originally came across it reading a LeoFinance post.
the Cent Community stats are steadily climbing. If you got a coin post, see if you could make room for the #cent tag among all those tags you use.
Penny up vote!

Hey, that was my post! Cool. Since I posted that I have found out the curation rewards are very very good too for #CENT and have started to build my stake in the last couple of days. Still not much in way of daily volume, but I'm hoping it will continue to grow. Love the idea of building my stake and not having to worry about it's value dropping over time.

I love the sight of copper pennies similar to that of silver.
A 100% 4 cent upvote on just 1000 Cents staked isn't too bad either. I do like the idea of a Stable coin concept amongst a Hive portfolio but I can also understand its disadvantages.

From a professed hoarder of old copper pennies. KLR

A nice little collection of International coins and a few being silver too.
I often do a quick research of the foreign coins I find using ,
https://en.numista.com/
I get a steady trickle of foreign coins from Coinstar change counting machines in the last 3 years.
And for US and Canada, as a quick reference, https://www.coinflation.com/

Have a Great day,

Sweet! I gotta jump on this Cent community👍
Keep on stacking! My state just raised taxes on online Metals purchases. I’m not happy!

Last I heard is GA just made PM purchases Tax Free following AZ, NV and several other states and declaring it as legal tender. I don't recall how many states are have done so or which ones are in the process of that. But the tide is turning, just not fast enough.
In Canada , bullion is not Taxable but any coins under 0.999 Fine Silver or gold are taxable.

Good information to have👍 Thank you!
Yea we never had tax on it any state in northeast. Started seeing it pop up after 2015.
Side note you see this? https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2021/a416
@GeneEverett brought it to my attention.
It’s full on anti human.

From New York State.
Sounds already Unconstitutional and authoritarian.
So this gives Governor Cuomo (D) more "emergency powers" even after his debacle of sending infected Seniors from the hospital back to their retirement homes thereby infecting more seniors resulting in thousands of more deaths.
Something wrong with this picture.
