Success Is A Lousy Teacher??

Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose.
— Bill Gates

I wondered what Bill Gates, a business magnate, was thinking when he came up with this quote about success? Does it sound right? I mean, everyone loves success. Everyone wants to be successful. People work hard for and pursue success. Well, being a business magnate, he must have had his fair share of failures and successes.

But then, this quote reminds me of a saying that too much of a thing is bad. I have no idea of the origin of this saying but I have heard people say it again and again.

In correlation to success, how can something this good be called bad? Bill answered by saying - It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose.

Too much success or success all the time makes us feel we are invincible, incredible and a know-it-all! Be wary of success all the time!

Life is all about balance and failure, though unpleasant, has its benefits. Failure keeps us on our toes and makes us strive to be better. Failure makes us realize our frailty and limitations as humans. Failure teaches us to value life. Failure helps us learn from our mistakes and to value SUCCESS when it comes.

One of the beauties of life is that there is no arriving at the terminal of success without passing through the lane of failure. It's a must! No one becomes successful without trying over and over again, making mistakes, encountering failure, working on such mistakes to become a success.

You will agree there is value in failure. We may not like it but we must appreciate it otherwise success may make us forget ourselves and the things we truly value.

A little failure is okay. It is normal. Treasure such failures, build on them and success will become sweeter!

This is my entry to the #dreemportchallenge. Happy #thoughtfultuesday and thank you for visiting my blog.

I agree with that quote. People tend to be overconfident when they win consecutively and they forget life has its shortcomings sometimes.

Exactly! Too many wins can make a person forget there's something called loss or failure!
