SETTING UP MY SMALL PEN CAGE FOR NEW BROILERS // PART ONE
My new broilers should at least arrive this week and I have been trying to get everything in order for the brooding to go well. At first I was anxious because this is my first time of brooding but due to the help and support from my friends that are in to the business for a long time. Now I can say my mind is at ease.
WHAT ARE THE NECESSARY THINGS
The most important thing is the space because one has to consider the amount of birds to brood. Since it's just for a start and that's why I only order twenty birds for a start. And also since I don't have a big space and resources like me friends do.
I have put in great effort for the pen cage to be in good shape. I have been on the cage construction for up to a month now.
I try get two yards of canopy to prevent cold from entering the cage and to give warmth to the chicks.
Since am no carpentry, I try to go in my local way, I should have have used tilerod but since it is unavailable I rather use bottle cover with the nail to help hold the canopy firmly.
I went to a veterinary shop to get a drinker, a feeding tray and antibiotics for the birds
The pen cage is about to be ready. It just remains light and I will have to disinfect the cage before the birds arrive.
