Esta chicuela es nuestra perrita, se llama Amoglia y hace un par de meses recibimos una noticia que no esperábamos: le encontraron un tumor maligno en una de sus patas.

En menos de dos semanas tuvimos que tomar la decisión de operarla. No hubo demasiado tiempo para procesar el diagnóstico, pensar o prepararnos emocionalmente. Había que actuar.
La cirugía permitió retirar el tumor y eso fue un paso enorme. Pero no significó que el proceso hubiera terminado.
Aunque el tumor fue removido, existe la posibilidad de que hayan quedado células tumorales microscópicas en la zona de la cicatriz. Por esa razón nos indicaron continuar su tratamiento con radioterapia oncológica.
Y ahí comenzó una segunda parte de esta historia.
Queremos darle todas las oportunidades que estén a nuestro alcance
Quienes convivimos con animales sabemos que llega un momento en el que dejan de ser simplemente “una mascota”.
Aprendemos sus gestos, sus rutinas y hasta sus formas de pedirnos algo sin emitir una palabra. Están presentes en días importantes y también en esos días absolutamente normales que, con el tiempo, terminan siendo una parte enorme de nuestra vida.
Amoglia ocupa ese lugar para nosotros.

Por eso estamos intentando hacer todo lo que esté a nuestro alcance para que pueda recibir el tratamiento que necesita y, principalmente, para darle la mejor calidad de vida posible.
El desafío es que la radioterapia oncológica es un tratamiento costoso y en este momento afrontar la totalidad de las sesiones supera nuestras posibilidades económicas.
No es sencillo escribir algo así públicamente.
Pero entendimos que pedir ayuda también puede significar permitir que otras personas formen parte de una historia que todavía estamos intentando escribir.
Por eso decidimos escribir por todos los medios para poder reunir y alcanzar la meta de la terapia
En otros medios, con mis alumnos y las redes, hemos estado haciendo rifas y pidiendo donaciones, pero en este caso acá en HIVE he decidido simplemente visibiliar la situación y apostar a sus ayudas mediante la votación de este post para recaudar algo de ingresos para cubrir gastos.
Compartir esta publicación puede hacer que la historia llegue a alguien que sí pueda colaborar. Dejar un comentario ayuda a que siga circulando. Incluso simplemente haberte tomado unos minutos para conocer a Amoglia ya significa mucho para nosotros.
No quiero que esta publicación sea solamente sobre una enfermedad.
Quiero que también sea sobre esa red que aparece muchas veces cuando alguien se anima a decir: “Estamos haciendo todo lo que podemos, pero esta vez necesitamos una mano”.

No sabemos exactamente cómo será todo el camino que viene.
Lo que sí sabemos es que vamos a intentar recorrerlo haciendo todo lo posible por ella.
Hoy nuestra prioridad es conseguir que pueda realizar su tratamiento y seguir teniendo algo que, finalmente, es mucho más importante que cualquier otra cosa: calidad de vida, cuidados y muchísimo amor.

This little girl is our dog. Her name is Amoglia, and a couple of months ago we received news we never expected: she was diagnosed with a malignant tumor on one of her legs.
Everything happened very quickly.
In less than two weeks, we had to make the decision to have her undergo surgery. There wasn't much time to process the diagnosis, think things through, or prepare ourselves emotionally. We had to act.
The surgery allowed the tumor to be removed, and that was a huge step forward. But it didn't mean the journey was over.
Although the tumor was removed, there is still a possibility that microscopic tumor cells remain around the scar. For that reason, we were advised to continue her treatment with oncological radiation therapy.
And that's when the second part of this story began.
We want to give her every opportunity within our reach
Those of us who share our lives with animals know that there comes a point when they stop being simply “a pet.”
We learn their gestures, their routines, and even the ways they ask us for things without saying a word. They are there on important days, but also on those completely ordinary days that, over time, end up becoming such a huge part of our lives.
Amoglia holds that place in our lives.
That's why we're trying to do everything within our reach to make sure she can receive the treatment she needs and, above all, to give her the best possible quality of life.
The challenge is that oncological radiation therapy is an expensive treatment, and right now, covering the full cost of all the sessions is beyond what we can afford.
Writing something like this publicly isn't easy.
But we've come to understand that asking for help can also mean allowing other people to become part of a story we're still trying to write.
That's why we decided to share her story everywhere we can, hoping to raise enough to reach our goal and cover her treatment
On other platforms, with my students and through social media, we've been organizing raffles and asking for donations. But here on HIVE, I've decided to simply make Amoglia's situation visible and place my hopes in your support through the votes on this post, so that we can raise some funds to help cover the expenses.
