Rusty rust

For a couple of years now I have been a yogi working the muscles and the breathing for a bit, and it has brought me a lot actually. From the first time I started this actully was in Sint martin where I was taking classes with this Indian girl on the roof of a building in the evening underneith the stars. I loved the concept of doing yoga outdoors as it feels reasonable especially with the stars hoovering over you.

Later on I started to take classes on the beach by a Swiss girl with the waves in the background on early mornings. This was also awesome to clear the mind as this was more yin yoga which means the poses are a bit longer and more deep, which alligns perfect with the beach situation. Not such a good situation is the grip that you have in the sand. Althought it is good for the balance, there was also always a lot of compensation in the poses....but that could have also be just me and my not-so-good balance

What I always liked about the outdoor yoga situation is just taking a moment of outside using the calm and the air to just take a moment to breath more.

This also lead to that I started taking some yoga classes here in Holland in the style of Hatha yoga which is way more breathing related versus the sportyness of that a vinyasa-flow lesson might have.

Although I like the option of breaking a good sweat every now and then with some yoga, you need to be a little bit in a better shape in terms of strength, I have a way better vibe with focussing on the breathing lessons in a way that they bring a lot more to the daily life of what you are doing.

The breathing helps giving some posture because I have a partially standing-up profession. The breathing helps giving the calm in an airplane with turbulence. The breathing helps when falling asleep when there is still a ton on your mind.

But then it was summer time and there were no classes. And although throughout the year I had also skipped a lot of classes due to school and nightshifts, not these multiple weeks of not doing anything are not what I like from it.

Sure...I guess by now I have learned enough to do more home yoga even from memory and not even while watching a video or listening to someone telling me what to do. But uhhh...you need some backbone and motivation to do that, and I aways see tons of other things to do when I am at home.

So I have been rusty for over the last couple of weeks and at some point that is starting to bother me. The rustyness in the breathing but also in terms of flexibility to the body which I am feeling that is lacking at the moment.

Maybe....just maybe....I have been doing a sun salutation here and there in the morning to get the blood flowing in the kitchen. You know the kind that no one sees as if it feels like you are doing something illegal.

The one that you secretly slip in and the when you are in your downward facing dog and someone is walking in you quickly get up and act casual...I have no idea why.

Let's just say it is better for everyone and everything that classes will start again soon before I get really rusty!

I love that you practiced yoga outdoors! #goals. I've started practicing yoga last year and I found it hard to do it regularly as well, even though I know damn well it helps me with easing my nervous system. So I've tricked my mind by doing yoga first thing in the morning, for just 10 minutes. No phone, no coffee, no shower. And after I finish, I treat myself to breakfast and a cup of coffee🤭

I guess the 10 minute in the morning tactic is absolutely the way to go, but I also have the dog then looking at me like....'uhh...hello why arent we walking now?'

But coffee and breakfast later..yeah that is perfect...Do you use an app or youtube or something or you just have some good routines from memory?

Haha aww I see, "First things first human!".
Breakfast and coffee later works pretty well to keep me accountable. My memory isn't what it's used to be, so I'm finding it easier to follow a practice on Youtube. I can't imagine doing it without really... Do you have a routine for yourself?
