My hometown, Dehradun, has a very strong Tibetan food culture. Lots of people from Tibetan region in China reside there and they have introduced the city to their food and it remains one of the most popular cuisines in the city. One such famous place is KC Soup Bar, a place I reviewed and introduced on tasteem earlier. This time, I had the option of going to Singh Soup Bar, a new but very popular place in the city.

The place is run by a Punjabi guy. However, cooking skill and good taste are not limited to someone's ethnicity. The place was a small shack and is now a large restaurant. Here are a few pics -

Trust me, the place has plenty of seating space and is huge. In fact, there is parking available too. Parking a car can be difficult on the busy Rajpur Road. The restaurant offer a nice, clean vibe and the open aesthetics are nice to enjoy food in.

The menu is quite simple. I always choose the dishes I loved as a kid.

We ordered Half mutton momos, Chicken momos, Half Chicken Chowmein and 1 Chicken Soup. The kitches is see-through so one can see the food being prepared. Here are various tills making noodles, momos and soup.

Momos have a nice filling. Mutton momos look the same on the outside, so not sharing a pic. However they are 5 in numbers. I like enjoying these with onions and both chutneys.

Chicken Soup

This soup is not something I have seen anywhere outside of Dun. I think this is a very India recipe. The texture is thick, there surely is corn flour to thicken the soup. It does taste awesome, and something I enjoy like fried chicken but restrict myself from enjoying too much

Chicken Chowmein

I dig this dish. I don't know how many times I would eat this as a child. Noodles are such comfort food. I actually saw this being made as mine was the only order. It tastes nice so I hope to be able to re-create this at home. The chicken pieces are tossed in a hot wok, then veggies, then egg noodles and last condiments. Wonderful food.

For all the food, we paid about $5, or ~INR 350. I will recommend this place, because food is good and parking is free. Rate is 3.5 on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being best.

That noodle dish is quite similar to what we have here in the Philippines. It looks like a little bit of everything good on a plate. !BEER
