Diablo 3 ~ Season 26, starting a new wizard!

Ahh, Diablo 3.

A game that is inferior in nearly every way when compared to the likes of Path of Exile, and yet, still manages to tempt me with its bright colours, shooty rays of doom, rainbow portals and endless loot.

The thing that I like most about Diablo 3 is its simplicity... sometimes you just want to play an ARPG and not have to think about what you're doing. Just run around and kill things, and not have to worry about filling out an immense talent tree and acquiring certain gems and needing to find the correct sockets for them in a haze of RNG madness.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be jumping straight into Path of Exile the moment the next league is out and Diablo 3 will be buried again once more, but, for the time being, this type of mindless simplicity is just what the doctor ordered.

I've been feeling a bit fuzzy-minded the past week. Can't really focus on things, brain's feeling a bit tired and dull, so a nice mindless game like this sounds about perfect to rejuvenate the ol' noggin.

Anyway, let's get to gaming!

The Demon Hunter is usually my go-to class in this, with Wizard coming a close second... but for my first D3 character in years and years, I decided to go with the Wizard. More bright colours! And, with the Templar as her companion, of course.

What would be fantastic, is if, during the short amount of time I intend to play this, I come across a rainbow portal and manage to score a pair of space galaxy wings! That would be great.

Screenshot004.jpg

Once again I'd like to commend Diablo 3 on this most amazing feature ~ ADVENTURE MODE. Something Path of Exile desperately, desperately needs.

Obviously I chose that option instead of following the campaign, and soon began doing bounties for the great Tyrael.

Screenshot008.jpg

While playing, I re-discovered another thing I really enjoy about D3. The kill and smash multipliers! I would love it if something like that was implemented in Path of Exile. It'd make it fun to kill buttloads of things and there'd be a reason to go off the beaten path and not just plod painfully through the maps.

Screenshot016.jpg

Despite not being on a high difficulty, and not even having a single magic-find item on, I got lucky early on and found a goblin who dropped 3 legendaries! Woo.

Screenshot025.jpg

One of the things he dropped was this Mimic. Another pet to add to my collection. 😁 Not that I'm using him, I like my flaming skull too much.

Screenshot040.jpg

Once I was about level 20 and geared up enough, I changed my difficulty from Expert to Torment 1 and continued doing bounties, and only a couple of Nephalem Rifts -- need the bounty materials.

There's a special material unique to each bounty area and I'd like a small collection of those for later. Need them to use The Cube. Speaking of The Cube, I'm not sure why I have 5 hands in the above screenshot as I was grabbing The Cube. xD

Screenshot051.jpg

Thanks to the Torment difficulty, I literally reached level 70 within a few hours of playing (as opposed to nearly two entire days of playing PoE) and could focus on working out what type of Wizard I actually wanted to be.

Whilst levelling, I focused on my hydra and meteors, but, if I recall correctly, there are 2 sets that favour either one or the other, not both. But, if I also recall correctly, there is a unique item that allows me an extra hydra head.

So I could get that, and also the meteor set, then I'll be laughing maniacally as I rampage upon the demons. 😈

Screenshot054.jpg

Once I hit 70, I teleported back to town and made some basic level 70 armour - including two 2-sets. One that reduced damage taken and increased damage dealt by 15% and 30% respectively. And another that gave me +100 resistances.

So important when there's green puddles and purple laser beams all over the place.

Now I could focus on the Seasonal Challenges too.

I don't really care about the armour set that'll be given to me for free, it doesn't have anything to do with the abilities I want to use, but I like checking off the checkboxes, haha.

Screenshot062.jpg

With several Nephalem Rift Keys gathered and my Paragon level up to 20, it was time to do a little transmogging, and jump into the Greater Rifts to start finding some shiny gems and better gear.

All in all, I feel pretty accomplished after spending maybe 9 hours total in game during last night and today. A good start to the weekend.

And I'm pleased to announce that this is actually helping to lift my brain-fog! While playing, I actually felt inspired and had a few flashes of fiction I wouldn't mind writing some point soon. I know I've been slacking during this April Madness Writing Month Thing. Well, not really slacking, more feeling guilty about being neglectful to my family while trapped in my own little writing world. Then the brainfog hit. 😑 Bleh!

Until next time! ✨🔮🧙‍♀️

Yes weeeeeeeii! But nah, they both have their pros and cons xD

Yeah! I'm late for the new season, haha!! I've been checking every so often, and seeing nothing, and then I checked last night and saw it had been up for a week and I was just WUT!? and opened it up. XD

METEORRRRRRRR!

I like goblin fights in Diablo 3, changing degree of difficulty is logical; especially at this advanced stage of the battles?

Yup. Need to get to max torment.

Diablo 3 may not have much of the depth and content of Path of Exile but the simplicity and pure fun makes it worth it big time. I'm probably gonna be playing it again at some point in the future.

I've been waiting and waiting for this current Diablo 3 season so I could start a new character. I mean, I could've started one at any time I suppose, but I enjoy the seasons and starting without 5,000 or so Paragon points already! Haha!

The simplicity of Diablo 3 is fantastic. Sometimes it's exactly what's needed in a game! PoE is fantastic for its depth and endgame content, but it does lack in the "mindless fun" department.

Next Thursday the ladder in Diablo 2 resurrected starts. Are you going to play it? As long as you play D2R at all :D

I've never actually played Diablo 2 at all before. 😱 Was going to get Resurrected when it first launched so I could at last see what all the fuss was about xD but then never did... do you reckon it's worth buying?

Well, compared to D3 it is a completely different experience to be honest. You need to grind far more but there are tons of different builds you can play.
Also, the latest patch changed quite a bit to the better part.

So, yes, as an old hardcore d2 fan, I think it's worth it :)

I don't mind a grind! I prefer it, if anything. 😃

I'll take another look! ... and hope that it goes on half price at some point in the near future. xD

Ah yes! That was Diablo 3! Back in the day when they had a real money Auction House. 😅 I made $300 or so back then, on a few random legendaries, but then they removed the feature. 😑 Wish they still had it! XD

This game is my all time favorite. I call it a living legend among RPG games.
It has changed the narrative of RPG games for good. Thanks for bringing this story up with us.

This game has no age :) just like World of Warcraft and other similar mmorpgs. I grew up with this type of games and I'd still play them 15 years later!

Definitely! 😃 As long as the servers are still operational, I'll happily still play this in another 15 years! Hopefully the upcoming Diablo 4 is really good too though. 🙂

I'm happy to find another D3 fan! I am playing a Demon Hunter this season. I totally get what you mean about comparing D3 to PoE. Last season I went pretty deep into PoE, hitting level 70 for the first time ever. It is much more mind-taxing gaming compared to D3. Diablo's mindless monster-slaying rifting grind can be a good way to zone out and unwind.

Wooo, Demon Hunter! 😃 My favourite class!!

It's a pretty big feat hitting 70 in PoE, and then getting beyond that!! My best character reached level 84 and then kind of just hovered there due to losing XP constantly thanks to being annihilated. xD And it took me weeks to get there. Playing the league, you'll see notifications of people reaching level 90+ on the first day and I'm just... HOW!?

I'm loving D3's mindlessness at the moment. It's definitely a good way to zone out and unwind!! 😊
