Youth Fellowship on Relationship Goals
My husband and I spent the 13th of February together with the young people of our church, we had an invitation to join a Valentines day event at a neighboring town, our ex youth pastor with the grace of God had already built a church in Candijay named Voice of Triumph Church and they hosted this year's Valentines day event for the young people.
Relationship Goals: Christ Above All
This is the theme for the event. It started at two in the afternoon, we arrived ten minutes before the time. After everyone settled in, the event opened up with a liturgical dance.
And it was followed by some icebreaker games where all of the participants shared laughter while getting to know each other. The first one if I could remember it right was the game called "the boat is sinking". Check out these photographs I took while everyone was having a great time knowing everybody else.
Then the next game was to called "arrange the teams", there were around six lines or group of teams and they have to arrange themselves according to their names.
It was funny because after the countdown, one by one according to whoever lifts their hands up which meant they were done arranging themselves, however, the first three lines didn't get their arrangements right.
Most importantly, there were only two groups who got their arrangement correctly.
The goal of the games of course was so they could interact with each other, know the names of the young people from the other churches and make friends. I guess through the games, there were those who had made friends and hopefully, they had enjoyed it. I guess the photos show how much they had enjoyed the icebreakers.
The event was by the way hosted by Sarah, this young lady is very energetic and filled with charm too. She did a great job with maintaining composure even if the place was a little but crowded especially during the game part.
After everyone was settled down, some went to get water, some went to the comfort room, the next part was the testimony. The sharer prepared some notes on her speech.
She had talked about her life, her past way of living, her struggles and her rebellion against everyone around her until she got pregnant, she's now a single mother and had repented from all her sins, she's attending the Voice of Triumph Church and by the grace of God, is working on making her path straight, knowing that the Lord is a God of grace, full of mercy.
The main part of the event of course is the preaching, this is what we were here for - to listen to the Word of God.
The preaching was about relationships of course, he dealt with the definition of the word relationship and goals and how being away from God, the relationship can't last. He made a couple of points on the things in which Christ must be above them so that any relationship can last. This includes the relationship with the parents, ourselves, our friends, and even our special friend or those whom we have mutual understanding.
The message was clear, it took more than an hour and it was closed with a challenge for the young people to remember and hopefully, they can apply whatever learnings they had acquired from the preaching.
The whole room now was ready for some presentations from the other churches, it was GCBC who rendered the first presentation. This was a song by Algie while Kenneth was on the guitar.
The Mount Zion Church went next and gave their presentation, they were all girls and it's so nice to see them in front. They sang a song as well.
Last part of the event was the games and there were a couple of games prepared by the host. One of which I had witnessed was the "Paint me a picture", this game is always fun and being young, everyone enjoyed!
After all the energy-draining games, it was time for snacks. We were served with pancit and bread, some sticky rice too and coconut juice to quench the thirsty throats.
After which, a singing session was done as well. This was just the after event part, the young people had known many new faces and had created connections and friendships that they enjoyed their company during the after party. There were a couple of individuals who rendered songs in front.
Unfortunately, it was already dark, we were here since two in the afternoon and now, it was already dark! Time went by so fast! The event then ended and it was time to say goodbye to new friends.
Our prayer though is that all these things that had been discussed about the relationship goal of making Christ above all will bind into their hearts and that the youth will bring this with them as they go.
