Matti Didn't Like Anything at ToysRUs

It's been awhile and I know this has been a very long overdue article but nonetheless, I still want to share this experience we had when we were in Cebu City last November.

Last article that I had published, I shared how Matti had loved the lights and the stars at Robinsons Galleria. On that same week before we went to travel to Oslob, we had the chance to visit Ayala Center Cebu.

Ayala Center Cebu's Christmas Tree

This mall is very close to my heart because I worked in a company where our office is just next to Ayala center and I always eat here for lunch or dinner. It is safe to say that I had been to Ayala every single day while I was still working.

So going back to Ayala Center after two years was sweet especially that I have Matti now. He was still in my tummy the last time I had been here and now he's already one year old.

Our first destination was to have lunch as we reached the mall almost at lunch time. Our favorite is Kenny Rogers and so we headed there and ordered our favorite set of grilled ribs and chicken. I also ordered some baby potatoes and macaroni. Surprisingly, Matti loved everything on the plate. He ate the potatoes well as well as the muffins. He sure had a great meal.

Our next stop was at Henry's Cameras. This has been my husband's request as he want to buy a new camera body. He was just canvassing where's the best shop to buy it and ended up at Henry's but he didn't get to buy the camera on this visit, after we went to Oslob, we returned to Ayala and met up with my colleague friends.

Then our next goal was to get a phone for my sister in law. While the husband was busy looking for the phone that they had requested, Matti and I found the Christmas tree. Matti took a few minutes of his time looking at the tree. Perhaps he was appreciating the beauty of the tree.

And I had to be quick to take these photos while he was busy pointing to the tree, baby talking, and was somehow telling me something that I can't comprehend. The Christmas tree here is filled with red, green, and gold Christmas balls. There were lights too but not too many compared to the previous tree he had seen at Galleria.

In line to where we were standing was Daiso Japan's store and so I directed Matti that we check it out, the husband was not yet done with the looking for the phone so I took that chance to go inside Daiso instead.

If you are not aware what this shop is, it is like a thrift store, most of the items here are sold at Php 88. I used to go here too for anything I needed, tissue papers, kawaii plates, stuffed toys, even snacks! House items are also available such as floor mops, brooms, etc. They even have make up items!

As we were already inside, I let Matti look at the keychains which have cute Shiba designs! But what he wanted was that pack of yellow ducks!

And then he moved to the snacks section and started picking up these boxes. The snacks here are sold buy one take one while others were sold Php 88 for three boxes so we ended up getting some Fullo.

Matti was so busy picking up the boxes and giving them to me. I guess it took him five or more times of taking and then I would return them back to the shelves. I only wanted three boxes. He added some more snack items like the Pocky which he ended up loving so much, he would always ask for it while we were in Oslob.

Daiso opened a branch in Tagbilaran City and I was not aware of it until we visited Alturas Mall. It was part of my bucket list when we were in Cebu that we visit a Daiso branch thinking that we don't have one here in Bohol.

So now that we have a branch in Bohol already, I guess I won't miss Daiso that much anymore. Also, Bohol has a new shop similar to Daiso too and its Mimiso. It has opened in December in Alta Citta, still an Alturas Group of Companies mall.

After roaming around, we finally reached the cashier with only snacks in hand. I have no specific item in mind to buy though and it was challenging to go around with a toddler, he would end up picking everything he sees interesting and it was really hard picking them up again and putting back in the shelves so I ended up carrying him instead.

My husband followed us to the store when I was at the cashier because I realized I didn't have any cash on hand.

And we headed back to where my husband found the mobile phone that the sister in law wanted. We found a Realme GT Master Edition and as I was looking at the specifications of the device, I decided to get mine too! I ended up with the blue color which I regret. I should have opted for the gray one which has a signature of the famous Filipina online gamer and cosplay player.

I got to unbox the phone only when we reached Oslob. This is more of a gaming device, it has a feature which maximizes the performance of the system when playing mobile games and I surely like that feature. Here are the unboxing photos we took:

The most exciting part for Matti during our visit in Ayala was for sure the stop over to ToysRUs. I am not sure though if he understood where we were at that time but he sure had so much fun moving from one shelf to another. I already anticipated that we will be getting a toy for him and since the husband was still at another shop buying a monitor, Matti and I enjoyed each other's company and explore the toys inside the store.

ToysRUs sits right next to Daiso. There were several kids around and so I decided to move to a spot with lesser people. We stopped at the truck section. I was amazed at how Matti would pick up the toys then he would try to play with it but whenever I say return it back, he would submit and return the toy.

Of course, it would also mean dropping other boxes around so I had to be quick in picking them up before any saleslady or salesman comes. This kid was surely having a good time here!

I can't remember how many minutes we were inside the store. We moved from one toy to another, I guess we even had gone to every corner and I tried offering Matti certain toys but he was not paying much attention to them. He would only try to play then he would ignore them afterward.

What I was eyeing was a guitar toy which creates music when the buttons are pressed. I showed it to him and he tried pressing the buttons but since it was still packed, it was impossible for it to play and the plastic was thick. I asked him if he likes it and it seems like he didn't comprehend that I was willing to buy it for him.

In the end, we went out of the store empty handed. He was happy seeing all those toys around him. His face showed a delighted one and I was relieved as we went out without anything in hand, I was spared from buying any toy, this store also has quite a bit of expensive items so it was great not being able to pay anything.

I guess the next time that we visit this store in the future, it would be a different story. Today, Matti is already 18 months old and so he is already very much aware of his environment. We will then see next time when we visit Cebu again.

After all the walking and carrying and buying stuff, we were all done and had to brace ourselves for a three to four hour drive to southern Cebu, in Oslob. My husband bought some cold sweet drinks for me which came with a free two-piece donut for being fully vaccinated.
