Failed Doctor's Visit

Tuesday, January 25, we had an important matter doctor’s visit. This was supposed to be a vaccination day plus a follow-up checkup on Matti after getting hospitalized. It was raining the entire night and so the morning was cold and wet and it was not helpful as well that Matti kept waking up at midnight and around three in the morning. He wanted to play, he took his basketball and other toys, even kept on pulling his sleepy father’s hand ‘coz he wanted to play with him and not with me. I get it but his father was just so sleepy, he can’t get up so I volunteered, after an hour, Matti was finally asleep and I was only sleepy at four so I wrote a few articles as drafts so I can publish them on the next day instead.

So, as going to the doctor was our main agenda, we hit the road at 8:30 AM, we planned to be out of the house at 8 but then, we woke up at seven.

The rain made it easier for us to travel, there were fewer cars and motorcycles on the road, in the province, there are lesser vehicles so it was a smooth ride until we reached the hospital. Matti was asleep so my husband and I talked nonstop about everything and anything under the sun or rain in that case.

Upon reaching the hospital, we headed straight to the back entrance instead but we were told to use a face shield. It’s been months since that has been stopped and now they are implementing it once more. We had face shields ready in the car so that was not a problem.

Matti was holding me like he was about to be executed. It was a different kind of hold, it was like a fearful one, perhaps he remembers the ambiance of the hospital. I promised him nothing bad is going to happen but I know at the back of my mind that he will get a shot so that promise is a lie, I asked sorry at the end.

The elevator’s working, thankfully! The city is still short of electricity though and the hospital I guess is still using a generator for power. The pedia’s clinic at the third floor but as soon as the elevator door opened, we saw the clinic dark and a note placed on the door stating that they are closed until further notice. There was a father and daughter who were with us in the elevator and on the next door, the same note was hanging, they turned back saying the doctors are not available. We had to take photos of the contact details, I regret not contacting the doctor first before coming here.

According to the guards, it’s been two weeks and they have no information when will the clinics open up again. I guess we have no choice but to do other stuff instead. Anyway, according to Matti’s pedia, the vaccination can be delayed.

So, we headed to Alturas Mall this time so we could buy some mobile phones. Matti was able to go inside the mall, he wears his facemask now without hesitation when we told him there was an escalator inside the mall. He is fond of riding the escalator that as soon as he saw it, he ran towards it and asked that we hold his hands. Save and Earn shop was on the fourth floor, Matti enjoyed all four escalators. We were successful in buying the phone and then James went to look for some computer tables for his office. We stayed at Snack Attack for some fries.

We just brought the fries to the car as James returned immediately saying he can’t find anything nice in the department store so we headed to Your Lounge Cafe for lunch.

I had high expectations while at the cafe but I ended up getting disappointed. I guess I have to create a separate article for this experience because all that I was expecting, we experienced the opposite instead to what my husband experienced more than two weeks ago when he went here for work, he booked a co-working space here on the first week of January.

Anyway, we had carbonara, a bisteak meal with non-coffee fraps, paid the bill, and went out. We headed to Mandaue foam afterward, the baby asked for milk so I ended up staying in the car while the husband looked around. I miss going inside, if I was inside, he might have paid more. He bought a new rug for our room, some laundry clips, and a tabletop. I asked him to buy a new fleece blanket but he said the designs and colors are not good so he didn’t buy one.

After that, we went to ICM, our last resort and he finally found what he was looking for! Matti and I had to stay in the car first before following James inside because the baby was still latching.

We bought more items like a yoga mat and a new pair of drumsticks. Matti was well behaved inside the mall, he listens to my instructions, and since he was being good, we bought another set of fries, but actually, it was for me. There was a McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant nearby so we stopped there and bought snacks.

After which, I asked the husband to stop by Zekeila, a mom and baby store but they ran out of lactating coffees. The attendant told me they’ll restock on the first week of February. I will surely come back by that time or find any other sources online, whichever option gives me the lactating coffees sooner, I’d go!

Then we stopped by Mercury Drugstore and bought some vitamins. We have decided to give Matti Cherryfer vitamins. James also bought some Vitamin C for us. Then while waiting, I thought we must bring something home, I thought of pizza so I opened my FoodPanda app and ordered a Hawaiian and Tuna pizza from Pepperoni Pizza, it took only 20 minutes of waiting for the goodies to be ready and so we stopped by at a gas station to fill in some gas while waiting for the pizza to be ready. It was a pickup order so by the time that we were done at the gas station, filling up the tank with gas and also the wheels with air, we reached the pizza shop and the attendant had the boxes ready.

We were then off back home, it rained hard again while we were on the road, it was still four in the afternoon but it was already dark. There’s low pressure in the province. But although it was raining, we still stopped by Dimiao to buy fruits, bananas, mangoes, and apples. I didn’t see any dragon fruit anymore though.

It took two hours for us to reach home. That’s how we spent our Thursday. Our initial plan was to stay in a resort in Panglao for my advanced birthday celebration but James has a speaking engagement by Thursday, we decided to just move the getaway next week instead.

Thanks for reading!
