Brown Summer Days
How's the weather in your area?
I am located on the beautiful island of Bohol, an island well known for thousands of chocolate hills scattered at its heart. The scattered hills have a folk story of two giants throwing balls of soil at each other thus creating this tourist spot. As you might have guessed now, Chocolate hills are how they refer to this spot because of how the hills turn brown during summer. And it is not just evident in the mountains but also in our grassland.
As summer peaked this month, everything here turned brown. Just a few weeks ago when we had our operation Christmas child box distribution, the grasses were still green but just a week after when we revisited this area, it was all brown and dull. The sun truly is a powerful force!
My husband took photos of the surroundings while I was busy with the first lesson for our children's class. I am delighted to see the kids again, they were excited to learn more about the stories we have prepared for them.
And since it's summer, we decided to visit this area past four in the afternoon because the sun would be on its way down to set and we don't have an actual building to stay as well. We just brought snacks and the materials we needed for the lesson.
It was a great afternoon, we had fun learning about each other, the kids are really into volleyball especially the young girls who are also very tall considering their age. I am blessed to see their eagerness to learn and they were all very participative.
I look forward to seeing them again by the weekend! I must bring something for them because I have been away for two weeks since we were in Cebu. I am back now in our town and will teach the kids lesson four this Saturday!
That's it for today! Thanks for reading!
