В Апелдоні функціонує музей - літня резиденція королівської сім'ї Нідерландів.
Корлева Вільгельміна заповіла цей маєток державі. У 1962 році, після її смерті, палац відновили та перетворили на національний музей. Там збережені апартаменти, бібліотека та кацелярія наказів. До речі, королева Вільгельміна померла у цьому маєткові. Є відеозапис її похоронної церемонії. В каретному дворі зберігається спеціальна карета, якою королеву везли в її останній путь.

Кімнати, в яких мешкали члени королівської родини, починаючи з 1600-х років, можна подивитися та пофотографувати. Там їх одяг, дрібнички на туалетних столиках, посуд, постіль, портрети. У більш пізніших апартаментах вже є світлини у чудових срібних рамках. Це наче потрапити в капсулу часу, де все застигло. Здається, що ось-ось з-за дверей почується шурхіт сукні якоїсь дами.
Мене вразили чоловічі кімнати 18-19 століття. Там зберігаються трофеї царських членів сім'ї, здобуті на полюванні. Зараз це здається якимось живодерством. Та я розумію, що раніше полювання було одним з основних видів розваг у знаті. І чим вправніший ти у цій справі, тим більшу повагу маєш. Мало того, не рідкістю було, що сам процес був як фоном для вирішення політичних питань і суперечок, укладання угод, тощо.
Ціла стіна в одній кімнати завішена рогами. Є підписи хто і коли вполював цю тварину. В одних апартаментах лежить шкура білого ведмедя. Також багато чучал тварин. Та найбільше мене вразив хобот слона, з якого виготовили світильник. Я довго придивлялася до нього, аж поки не зрозуміла, що він справжній. Це ж, мабуть, хтось із королів чи принців навіть їздив на сафарі.
Ці апартаменти витримані в темних кольорах, вони стримані та трішки суварі, без зайвих прикрас. Мені навіть на декілька секунд здалося, що я чую тонкий аромат від табачного диму, що всмоктався у всі поверхні після численних викурених тут сигар та люльок.

There is a museum in Apeldon - the summer residence of the royal family of the Netherlands.
Queen Wilhelmina bequeathed this estate to the state. In 1962, after her death, the palace was restored and turned into a national museum. There are preserved apartments, a library and an order office. By the way, Queen Wilhelmina died in this estate. There is a video recording of her funeral ceremony. In the carriage yard there is a special carriage used to transport the queen on her last journey.
Rooms where members of the royal family have lived since the 1600s can be viewed and photographed. There are their clothes, trinkets on the dressing tables, dishes, bedding, portraits. Later apartments already have pictures in beautiful silver frames. It's like being in a time capsule where everything is frozen. It seems that the rustling of a lady's dress is about to be heard from behind the door.
I was impressed by the men's rooms of the 18th and 19th centuries. Trophies of the royal family members, won on the hunt, are stored there. Now it seems like a kind of life-saving. But I understand that earlier hunting was one of the main types of entertainment among the nobility. And the more skilled you are in this matter, the more respect you have. Moreover, it was not rare that the process itself served as a background for solving political issues and disputes, concluding agreements, etc.
An entire wall in one room is hung with horns. There are signatures of who and when hunted this animal. In one of the apartments lies the skin of a polar bear. Also stuffed animals a lot. But I was most impressed by the trunk of the elephant from which the lamp was made. I looked at him for a long time until I realized that he was real. Apparently, one of the kings or princes even went on safari.
These apartments are decorated in dark colors, they are restrained and a little sober, without unnecessary decorations. Even for a few seconds, I thought I could smell the subtle aroma of tobacco smoke, which was absorbed into all surfaces after the numerous cigars and pipes smoked here.
