Senior men are very careful about whom they give access to their private space. There are lots of reasons for that, but I won't dwell on it. Senior men will be willing to mentor you if they have seen the efforts you're making in becoming... If you're a digital marketer, they want to see the efforts you've made in learning digital marketing. Hardly will you see an 'Emeka' pick up a clueless person to mentor. It doesn't work that way. Being clueless means that you want to be a graphic designer, for instance, but you're busy chasing clout instead of making efforts to learn and understand design principles and software. And then you want a mentor.
Let's make it more practical. If you want a mentor from social media - someone you admire online and want the person to mentor you - then you must take your social media content seriously. If you approach me for mentorship, the first thing I do before responding to your message is to go through your Facebook timeline. I do this because I want to know the kind of person you are. That's what every intentional person does. They want to know how you think; whether you think in private or in public. They want to know how you respond to emotions. You're not a celebrity; don't live your life on social media. It baffles me that many people post everything about themselves on social media. That's a show of some kind of intellectual imbalance.
A person with a good understanding of human nature can easily predict you by merely reading through your timeline. So, before you seek mentorship, clean up your profile. Let there be a conscious effort on your path towards achieving the goal you desire. Let it be that you're making efforts but not getting the desired outcome. Or let it be that you're making efforts but believe that you can be more. Your timeline can't be confusing the ancestors, and you want them to lift you to shoulder level. Your bio says, "Sales and marketing," but your timeline is a church ground. Your bio says, "I sell shoes and bags," but your timeline is a gossip ground. So, before you seek mentorship, clean up your profile. Let there be a conscious effort on your path towards achieving the goal you desire.
