MI HIJO TIENE UNA HERNIA UMBILICAL (PARTE II) (ESP/ENG)

En un pasado post les conté que mi hijo tenía una hernia umbilical, esto lo tiene desde que nació, su ombligo nunca se terminó de meter por completo. Ahora tiene 4 años y realmente no tiene una bola grande como muchas hernias suelen verse, es más bien que el ombligo quedó como con un exceso de piel hacia afuera.

In a past post I told you that my son had an umbilical hernia, he has had this since he was born, his navel never fully inserted. Now she is 4 years old and does not really have a large ball as many hernias tend to see, it is rather that the navel was left with an excess of skin on the outside.

Nunca le dió molestias y yo esperaba que cumpliera 4 años porque el pediatra me decía siempre que eso de las hernias era muy común y solían cerrarse solas entre los 3-4 años. Sin embargo hace dos meses mi hijo tenía dolor, le marqué al pediatra y me recomendó llevarlo a urgencias, ahí me dijeron que su tipo de hernia no comprometía el intestino (que es cuando se les ve una bola grande), sino que solamente era como superficial. Lo que tenía era una infección en su ombligo, le dieron medicamento y lo mandaron a consulta para ir programando una cirugía, ya que era inminente operarlo.

It never bothered him and I expected him to turn 4 because the pediatrician always told me that hernias were very common and they used to close on their own between 3-4 years. However, two months ago my son had pain, I called the pediatrician and he recommended taking him to the emergency room, there they told me that his type of hernia did not compromise the intestine (which is when you see a large ball), but that it was only like superficial. What he had was an infection in his navel, they gave him medicine and sent him to consult to go schedule a surgery, since it was imminent to operate.

Así que empezamos el proceso. En México tenemos un tipo de seguro médico llamado Imss, que se da a algunos trabajadores, el Imss es muy conocido por alargarse mucho en los tratamientos o citas, así es un ir y venir, muchos trámites, muchas vueltas, etc... Le mandaron hacer análisis de sangre, orina y un ultrasonido.

So we started the process. In Mexico we have a type of medical insurance called Imss, which is given to some workers, the Imss is well known for taking a long time in treatments or appointments, so it is a coming and going, many procedures, many returns, etc ... They ordered blood, urine and ultrasound tests.

Hace una semana le dio de nuevo una infección y estuvo en tratamiento buevamente. Hace unos días tuvo cita con el médico general para ver sus resultados y lo mandó a que lo valorará el pediatra, con quien tuvo cita el día de hoy, nos citaron a las 12 y dos horas y media después nos atendieron 🙄 total que la doctora dijo que en la exploración física no le veía que fuera hernia umbilical, sino que parecía ser abdominal, es decir que la abertura de la hernia se le podía apreciar a lo largo del abdomen, desde donde termina la unión de las costillas hasta el ombligo 😱

A week ago he got an infection again and was in good treatment. A few days ago he had an appointment with the general practitioner to see his results and he sent him to be evaluated by the pediatrician, with whom he had an appointment today, they summoned us at 12 and two and a half hours later they treated us 🙄 total that the doctor He said that in the physical examination he did not see that it was an umbilical hernia, but that it seemed to be abdominal, that is, the opening of the hernia could be seen along the abdomen, from where the union of the ribs ends up to the navel 😱

Esto obviamente también requiere cirugía y es más complicada y riesgosa que una simple hernia umbilical. Me explicó que su ombligo parece solamente tener un exceso de piel, por eso no se le metió cuando era bebé, pero que no se ve hernia. En los ultrasonidos tampoco se aprecia nada, pero me mandaría con el cirujano pediatra para que ellos valoren el caso y de ser necesario le pedirán más estudios.

This obviously also requires surgery and is more complicated and risky than a simple umbilical hernia. He explained to me that his navel only seems to have excess skin, that is why it was not inserted when he was a baby, but that there is no hernia. The ultrasounds do not show anything either, but he would send me to the pediatric surgeon so that they can assess the case and if necessary they will ask for more studies.

También me comentó que lo que puede estar pasando es que los músculos o conductos del abdomen no cerraron por completo y eso puede estar causando que por ahí se drenen líquidos como por ejemplo orina y eso cause las infecciones, las cuales probablemente continúen, pero también puede que cesen.

He also told me that what may be happening is that the muscles or ducts of the abdomen did not close completely and that may be causing fluids such as urine to drain out there and that causes infections, which probably continue, but can also let them cease.

Por lo pronto nos dieron cita con el cirujano pediatra en dos días, espero que todo salga bien porque está situación de hoy me puso más nerviosa 😭

For now they gave us an appointment with the pediatric surgeon in two days, I hope everything goes well because this situation today made me more nervous 😭
