[ENG-SPN] Where Nature and Mystery Unite: A Journey to the Lobos River Canyon / Donde la Naturaleza y el Misterio Se Unen: Un Viaje al Cañón del Río Lobos

When nature unleashes its full creative power, patiently crafting landscapes worthy of fantasy worlds, it is difficult, if not impossible, not to feel utterly awestruck. It is in these moments of bucolic contemplation that the soul awakens and fully grasps that mysterious phrase of Salvador Dalí, when he ironically told his fellow artists: "Don't worry, because you will never find perfection."

It is possible that, for governmental purposes, Soria, like Teruel, are historically forgotten communities condemned to unjust administrative neglect, but in terms of breathtaking landscapes and heritage—historical, artistic, and cultural—they are leading the way, however hard that may be to believe.

It is equally difficult to believe that, in the heart of Spain, deep within an extraordinary natural canyon stretching over thirty kilometers and shared by the provinces of Soria and Burgos, legendary knights, guided by the famous motto "not for ourselves, Lord, but for the glory of your name," erected one of the most mysterious and spectacular transitional hermitages between Romanesque and Gothic architecture in all of Spanish cultural heritage: the Lobos River Canyon and the Church of Saint Bartholomew.

Cuando la naturaleza despliega toda su habilidad creativa, labrando pacientemente entornos dignos de mundos de fantasía, es difícil, por no decir imposible, no sentirse definitivamente acomplejado y es, en esos momentos de bucólica contemplación, cuando el alma despierta y comprende, en toda su extensión, aquella misteriosa frase de Salvador Dalí, cuando irónicamente les decía a sus colegas artistas: ‘no preocuparos, porque nunca encontraréis la perfección’.

Es posible, que, para temas gubernamentales, Soria, como Teruel, sean comunidades históricamente olvidadas y condenadas a un injusto ostracismo administrativo, pero, en cuanto a parajes sorprendentes y patrimonio, tanto histórico, como artístico y cultural, son primeras potencias, aunque resulte una afirmación difícil de creer.

Como difícil de creer es el hecho de que, en pleno centro de España, en lo más profundo de un extraordinario cañón natural, cuya extensión, que supera la treintena de kilómetros, comparten Soria y Burgos, unos caballeros legendarios, bajo la famosa divisa del ‘no para nosotros, Señor, sino para Gloria de tu Nombre’, levantaran una de las ermitas de transición del románico al gótico, más misteriosas y espectaculares de todo el patrimonio cultural español: el Cañón del Río Lobos y la iglesia de San Bartolomé.
