[ENG-SPN] Madrid, Eternal and Nonconformist / Madrid, eterno e inconformista

Another day dawns in eternal Madrid: that Madrid that follows in the footsteps of the vain Dorian Gray and is never satisfied contemplating its own portrait. The narcissistic Madrid that drowns in its own reflection and every summer greets visitors with the orchestra of the bulldozer, a supposed accomplice to a beauty with which it never quite agrees.

It is also the Madrid of street talent, which shelters in its streets the frustrated reincarnations of Albinoni, Mozart, and Beethoven, without ever reaching the ecstasy of Vienna.

And yet, despite everything, it remains that Madrid that once embraced the utopian motto of the American Founding Fathers: of all, by all, and for all.

Amanece otro día en el Madrid eterno: ese Madrid que sigue las huellas del presumido Dorian Gray y que nunca está satisfecho contemplando su propio retrato. El Madrid narcisista que se ahoga mirándose en su propio reflejo y todos los veranos recibe al visitante con la orquesta de la excavadora, presunta cómplice de una belleza con la que nunca termina de estar de acuerdo.

Es también el Madrid del talento callejero, que arropa en sus calles las reencarnaciones frustradas de Albinoni, de Mozart y de Beethoven, sin llegar nunca a alcanzar el éxtasis de Viena.

Y, no obstante, a pesar de los pesares, continúa siendo ese Madrid que un día hizo propio el lema utópico de los Padres Fundadores norteamericanos: de todos, por todos y para todos.
