Maximalists

Maximalists: I'm going to pick a single horse, and pin all of my ideology and hope on that horse. My coin will succeed at the expense of all others. I don't subscribe to that horseshit. I believe that Bitcoin is the hardest digital store of value, and has the largest regulatory moat around it, so I'm keen to continue to accumulate more of it over time. I believe this not because of religious fervor, it's because that's what objective reality is signaling to me. Does mean there should not be a competitive free market? Absolutely not. Objective reality also tells me there is a emerging digital economy with countless digital currencies. Will a large percentage of them die off? Yes. Should I not be permitted to experiment and exercise self-sovereignty without some centralized entity picking winners and losers? Also yes. So I kind of get the maximalist-religious types early on, but they are and should be a dying breed. Bitcoin has already won in many respects, but what I will not support is Bitcoiners attempting to use government to shut the door behind them. In many cases this is the undertone of some maximalist arguments-- let's use government to enforce our world view. Sorry, I can't support that. While I see Bitcoin as a clear winner as a digital store of value, this does not necessitate enforcement. Buy whatever you want, try to compete, and be accountable for your actions.

Splinterlands

So I have the majority of my cards now on the rental market. I am finding that the numbers actually fluctuate quite a bit. At a minimum you have to go in once or twice a day to adjust prices. It's pretty quick and painless with @peakmonsters though, and definitely consumes less time than grinding for rankings. Between DEC and SPS the returns are awesome. Chaos Legion is opening up tonight. I have a 1,000 packs I need to decide what to do with. Should I open all, some, or none? I have never really relied on luck to get the cards I need. I might open 5% of my packs to start and wait and see how the secondary market develops. I may later resurrect my alt account @joshmansters and play and build up a deck a bit like a noobie-- just for fun.

Running Nodes

The one thing about running several nodes for various blockchains is that you have to constantly update them. To do so, you have to pay attention to various Discord and Telegram channels. Failing to do so is usually not a deal breaker, most of the time you just have to resync the entire blockchain because you forked off of the correct one. Your coins are still recoverable.
In the worst case, there is a migration to a new blockchain, where you have to do a swap. I missed the boat on one random coin I had mined, but it wasn't enough value to upset me much, just another lesson learned.
