Sucede que hace tiempo venía pensando este post, no quería ser ofensiva pero luego simplemente mandé todo al carrizo y dije: "Ñeh, algún día igual lo contaré por ahí, ¿por qué no en Hive? Así que aquí estamos.

The worst payment I've ever received designing
Ésta historia inicia hace aproximadamente un año, yo trabajaba en una empresa como diseñadora (de la que no me quejo, ya que fueron geniales conmigo) y un cliente llegó como siempre a solicitar un trabajo.
This story begins about a year ago, I was working in a company as a designer (of which I can't complain, since they were great with me) and a client came as usual to ask for a job.
El flujo del asunto era que el cliente era recibido por el agente de ventas y este agente era el que se comunicaba o encargaba el trabajo al diseñador. A veces solía pasar que el cliente solicitaba un contacto directo con el diseñador.
The flow of the thing was that the client was received by a marketing person and this person was the one who communicated or commissioned the work to the designer. Sometimes it used to happen that the client would request direct contact with the designer.
Este cliente entonces quería un banner publicitario para su negocio, me centre en su solicitud que se hizo difícil cuando este cliente comenzó a pedir muchos (Muchos) cambios en el diseño en cada entrega que se le hacía. Finalmente entregué mi trabajo y bueno, se sorprenderán con lo que pasó luego de eso.
This client then wanted a banner ad for his business, I focused on his request which became difficult when this client started demanding many (Many) changes in the design with each submission. I finally submitted my work and well, you will be surprised with what happened after that.

Para ti, diseñador que anda por allí o futuro diseñador que desea agarrarse unos consejos de las no tan agradables experiencias de una desafortunada alma que sí metió la pata en el barro, como dicen por acá cuando cometes un error y te cuesta salir de él. Estos son 3 mega útiles consejos que deberías tatuarte en el hipotálamo:
For you, designer out there or future designer who wants to get some tips from the not so pleasant experiences of an unfortunate soul who did put her foot in the mud, as they say around here when you make a mistake and it's hard for you to get out of it. These are 3 mega useful tips that you should tattoo on your hypothalamus:
1. El costo
1. The cost
Como diseñador hay que tener en claro los costos de tu trabajo y lo que está dispuesto a pagar el cliente. Sí esto queda dicho entre ambos y se llega a un acuerdo, entonces todo cool. Porque créeme, muchas de las situaciones que comento en el vídeo están basadas en hechos reales.
As a designer you have to be clear about the costs of your work and what the client is willing to pay. If this is said between both of you and an agreement is reached, then everything is cool. Because believe me, many of the situations I discuss in the video are based on real events.
So be very clear on this point, you don't want to do a whole job expecting a fair payment and then receive something way below the measure as a reward for your hard work (sounds like a joke but it's an anecdote, pretty person).
2. La nube de Dios
2. The cloud of God.
En serio, guarda todo, todo dentro de la gran nube del Dios Internet. Podría pasar cualquier cosa y podrías perder todos tus archivos, esos en los que pasaste quizás minutos u horas pero que juntos podrían equivaler a una vida de trabajo, así que guarda todo lo que creas que usaras después dentro de la nube.
Seriously, save everything, everything inside the great cloud of the Internet God. Anything could happen and you could lose all your files, those that you spent maybe minutes or hours on but together could amount to a lifetime of work, so save everything you think you'll use later inside the cloud.
Yo estuve muy cerca de perder mis archivos, aunque gracias a la suerte que a veces me traigo, casualmente había pasado todos mis archivos a mi laptop antes de que mi otra computadora decidiera dárselas de bella durmiente.
I was very close to losing my files, although thanks to the luck that sometimes happens to me, I had casually moved all my files to my laptop before my other computer decided to play sleeping beauty.
Y no se crean esa de: "Yo lo tengo todo en este pendrive". No persona bonita, ese pendrive podría perderse en cualquier momento. Lo más seguro a largo plazo es dejarlo todo en la nube.
And don't believe that one: "I have it all on this pendrive". No pretty person, that pendrive could be lost at any moment. The safest thing to do in the long place is to leave everything in the cloud.
3. Tus tiempos
3. Your times
"Si estableces tus tiempos, tus días serán más soleados y frescos", dicen por allí.
"If you set your times, your days will be sunnier and cooler," they say over there.
Ok no, pero deberían decirlo. Establecer los tiempos y dejar todos los detalles en claro con tu cliente son vitales, y los tiempos son un detalle importantísimo. Si hay una tarea que te resulte nueva, o quizás algo en lo que no has indagado mucho, déjalo en claro con tu cliente, de ésta manera él sabrá que esperar de ti y de tu trabajo.
Ok no, but they should say it. Establishing timelines and making all the details clear with your client are vital, and timelines are a very important detail. If there is a task that is new to you, or perhaps something you haven't looked into much, make it clear with your client, so they know what to expect from you and your work.
Si hay un acuerdo entre ambos respecto al tiempo, créeme, tus mañanas no necesitarán café para que sean buenas.
If there's an agreement between the two of you about the time, trust me, your mornings won't need coffee to be good.
Finalmente...
Espero que este pequeño relato le sirva a alguien por allí, me hubiera gustado compartirles el diseño realizado, pero creo que sería una violación a las políticas de la empresa en la que trabajé, así que dejémoslo en que debería haber costado mucho más de lo realmente costó.
I hope this little story will be useful to someone out there, I would have liked to share with you the design, but I think it would be a violation of the policies of the company I worked for, so let's leave it at that it should have cost much more than it actually did.

Coño vale @josegrech te jodieron con ese diseño 1.50$ por dos días de trabajo y suamdo a eso tú creatividad, pasión y ganas de que salga bien.

Tienes mucha razón en lo que dices, mucha gente cree que esos trabajos no deberían costar tanto, sin saber todo lo que conlleva esa labor.
