Érase una vez una Josegreh en su cuarto a la medianoche en medio de un insomnio por tomar mucha cafeína cuando decidió buscar entretenimiento suave que la ayudara a dormir. Por casualidades de la vida se topó en Netflix un anime llamado Violet Everganden... Y falló entonces en su misión de relajarse.

Once upon a time there was a Josegreh in her room at midnight in the middle of having insomnia from drinking too much caffeine when she decided to look for soft entertainment that would help her sleep. By chance of life she randomly found on Netflix an anime called Violet Evergarden.... And failed then in her mission to relax.

Ya entrando en contexto, Violet Evergarden es una producción con una trama muy simple pero con un desarrollo tan complejo que al final terminas con ganas de saber más de todo. Es una producción de anime japonés realizada por Kyoto Animation, que contiene una serie de 13 capítulos, un OVA, un capítulo especial o película corta y una película. Estos se encuentran disponibles en su totalidad en Netflix.

Violet Evergarden is a production with a very simple plot but with such a complex development that at the end you end up wanting to know more about everything. It is a Japanese anime production made by Kyoto Animation, which contains a series of 13 chapters, an OVA, a special chapter or short film and a movie. These are available in their entirety on Netflix.

Es increíble todos los mensajes que contiene sobre los diferentes tipos de amor que pueden existir: El amor que sana, el amor de la infancia, el amor en medio de la amistad, el amor paternal, el amor que rechaza, el amor que duele y claro, el amor que no entiendes; que es básicamente el amor que vemos por medio de los ojos de nuestra protagonista, Violet Evergarden.

It is incredible all the messages it contains about the different types of love that can exist: The love that heals, the love of childhood, the love in the middle of friendship, the parental love, the love that rejects, the love that hurts and of course, the love you don't understand; which is basically the love we experience through the eyes of our protagonist, Violet Evergarden.

La historia está dividida en dos líneas de tiempo, en la línea principal nos narran el presente desde los ojos de Violet, una joven huérfana que era conocida en el campo de guerra como "el arma" y que por medio de ésta pierde ambos de sus brazos y ahora usa prótesis mecánicas.

The story is divided into two timelines, in the main timeline we are narrated the present from the eyes of Violet, a young orphan who was known in the war field as "the gun"or "the tool" and through this she loses both of her arms and now uses mechanical prostheses.

En el momento de la post-guerra, Violet es acogida por la familia Evergarden a la vez que se convierte en una "Muñeca de Recuerdo Automáticos"; una profesión muy solicitada donde su misión es realizar cartas para otras personas. La historia está construida en base a como Violet, siendo críada para ser más un objeto a utilizar que como una humana, está aprendiendo sobre los sentimientos humanos ya que no podrá descansar hasta entender qué quiso decir el mayor Gilbert Bougainvillea, su superior y mentor, con la palabra "Te amo".

In the post-war era, Violet is taken in by the Evergarden family as she becomes an "Automatic Memory Doll"; a highly sought-after profession where her mission is to make letters for other people. The story is built around how Violet, being raised to be more of an object to be used than a human, is learning human feelings as she cannot rest until she understands what Major Gilbert Bougainvillea, her superior and mentor, meant when he said the word "I love you".

De 14 años en el momento de la post-guerra, es descrita con apariencia de muñeca; rubia, ojos azules y de aspecto delicado. Es criada para ser un arma de batalla y por ello es incapaz de comprender los sentimientos humanos y las necesidades más allá de matar.

Fourteen years old at the time of the post-war period, she is described as looking like a doll; blonde, blue-eyed and delicate in appearance. She is raised to be a battle weapon and is therefore incapable of understanding human feelings and needs beyond killing.

Alrededor de sus 10 años es encontrada por Dietfried Bougainvillea, un capitán de la marina quien se la "obsequia" a su hermano menor, el mayor del ejército, Gilbert Bougainvillea; el que inmediatamente se compadece de nuestra protagonista. Él es quien le da el nombre de Violet, le enseña a leer y escribir, además de explicarle poco a poco los sentimientos humanos.

When she was about 10 years old, she was found by Dietfried Bougainvillea, a navy captain, who "gave her as a gift" to his younger brother, the army major Gilbert Bougainvillea, who immediately took sympathy for our protagonist. He is the one who gives her the name of Violet, teaches her to read and write, as well as explaining to her little by little the human feelings.

En la última batalla de la guerra, Violet escucha las palabras "Te amo" de Gilbert antes de perderle la pista. Una vez despierta, le informan que las nuevas órdenes de su Mayor es que sea llevada con la familia Evergarden.

In the last battle of the war, Violet hears Gilbert's words "I love you" before she loses track of him. Once awakened, she is informed that her Major's new orders are that she is to be taken to the Evergarden family.

Posteriormente, Claudia Hodgins, ex teniente coronel y amigo de Gilbert, le da trabajo en su compañía de correspondencia postal como una Muñeca de Recuerdos Automáticos. Así Violet podrá aprender más sobre las emociones humanas y seguir su nuevo propósito de vida que es descubrir qué quiso decir el Mayor con sus últimas palabras.

Subsequently, Claudia Hodgins, a former lieutenant colonel and a Gilbert's friend, gives her a job in her postal correspondence company as an Automatic Memory Doll. Thus Violet can learn more about human emotions and follow her new life purpose which is to find out what the Major meant with his last words.

Algo que amé de ella es ésta personalidad tan frívola y directa pero a la vez tan llena de sentimientos que no entiende y por ello prefiere dejarlos debajo de la superficie, sin embargo, a medida que la trama se desarrolla podemos ver a una Violet que bien podría arder de todos los sentimientos que llega a acumular y como poco a poco vemos más expresiones y reflejos de sentimientos en ella. Puedes ver bien su arco de personaje cuando comparas a la Violet del capítulo 1 de la serie con la última parte de la película.

Something I loved about her is this personality so frivolous and direct but at the same time so full of feelings that she doesn't understand and therefore prefers to leave them below the surface, however, as the plot develops we can see a Violet that could well burn from all the feelings she gets to accumulate and how little by little we see more expressions and reflections of feelings in her. You can see her character arc well when you compare the Violet from chapter 1 of the series to the latter part of the film.

Gilbert Bouganvillea

"Huye... y sé libre. Desde el fondo de mi corazón, te amo."

Mayor del ejército de unos 29 años en la post-guerra. Es el menor de los Bougainvillea y quien se convierte en el mentor de Violet, una niña huérfana obsequiada a él para que sirva como arma en el frente de la guerra. Es en quien Violet piensa todo el tiempo, ya que podría ser la persona más importante en su vida.

En cierto punto crítico, mientras observa con horror el punto hasta el que empujó a Violet por seguir las órdenes de sus superiores, llorando le dice "Te amo" a Violet.

At a certain critical point, as he looks with horror at the extent to which he pushed Violet for following the orders of his superiors, he tearfully says "I love you" to Violet.

Claudia Hodgins

Claudia es un ex teniente coronel del ejército que se retiró en el momento en que terminó la guerra, también es el nuevo encargado de Violet Evergarden en su proceso de adaptación a una vida sin órdenes, sin guerra y sin su superior. Se convierte en su jefe, una vez que le da trabajo en la compañía postal que le pertenece.

Claudia is a former army lieutenant colonel who retired at the time the war ended, he is also Violet Evergarden's new guardian in her process of adjusting to a life without orders, without war and without her superior. He becomes her boss, once he gives her a job at the postal company he owns.

Ditfried Bougainvillea (Diego)

"Even when she lost both of her arms and her master... she's standing there"

Es el hermano mayor de Gilbert y el que encuentra a Violet. Él siente tanto odio por Violet al inicio de la serie, ya que su propósito de dársela a su hermano era para darle protección a él y sin embargo Gilbert pone por encima de él a la pequeña joven que él reconocía nada más que como "un arma" para ser usada.

He is Gilbert's older brother and the one who finds Violet. He feels so much hate for Violet at the beginning of the series, as his purpose in giving her to his brother was to provide protection for him and yet Gilbert puts above him the little young girl he recognized as nothing more than "a tool" to be used.

Lentamente vemos un proceso de duelo de su parte, donde al final podemos observar a nuestro Diego aceptar que Violet no tuvo la culpa de lo que le pasó a Gilbert y ve en ella incluso a una persona con la que compartir su dolor.

Slowly we watch a grieving process on his part, where at the end we can observe our Diego accept that Violet was not guilty of what happened to Gilbert and he even sees in her a person to share his pain with.

Benedict Blue, Cattleya Baudelaire, Erica Brown e Iris Cannary; otras Muñecas de Recuerdos Automáticos y un cartero que acompañan a Violet en su descubrimiento de los sentimientos y a su vez son partícipes de él en ciertos momentos de la serie.

Finalmente la serie tiene un fuerte mensaje sobre los diferentes tipos de amor, así como los diferentes procesos de duelo que pueden existir. Creo que fue muy bien construida y en una escala tendría toda la puntuación posible para mí ya que es tan magistral que siempre quedará conmigo como una de mis producciones favoritas y por las que me echaría un maratón.

Finally the series has a strong message about the different types of love, as well as the different grieving processes that can exist. I think it was very well constructed and on a scale it would score full points for me as it is so masterful that it will always stay with me as one of my favorite productions and one that I would marathon.

Hablando de eso, la duración de toda la producción ronda alrededor de 30 horas con 30 minutos aproximadamente. Se ve muy fácil aunque si quieres saltarte toda la serie, te recomiendo solo ver Violet Evergarden: The Movie, ya que está muy completa y puede entenderse sin necesidad de verse todo el resto de la serie.

By the way, the duration of the whole production is around 30 hours and 30 minutes approximately. It is very easy to watch, although if you want to skip the whole series, I recommend you just watch Violet Evergarden: The Movie, as it is very complete and can be understood without the need to watch the rest of the series.
