The Benefits Of Being Young & Poor

While the title of this post is a bit satirical, I'll still go on with it. I come from a country where people feel that they're bound to be successful and rich with time. So because they're younger they attach an inevitability to wealth as if it's a stage in life that one must attain by default irrespective of their actions, contributions, decisions, or choices.

One of the shortest things in life is time and this isn't really because time is short, it is because of how we tend to miscalculate its passage. When I was younger I used to work for one of my uncles but because I realized that I was wasting my time, I called it quit and began to seek other ventures to financially better my life.

This meant that the time I spent working freely for him, bettered his life financially, but it never did the same for me.

It negatively impacted my life because I was productive but financially inept. He had more money in the bank because he was getting paid for the services I rendered his customers and what made it even better for him was that he wasn't paying me. However, he felt that I never needed money, since I was young and inexperienced and it was his turn to become richer.

The truth is, while we can associate being young and working freely and garnering experience, we have to understand that there's nothing wrong with being young and making money.

In life, there's the illusion that experience should precede reward because a time will come when that experience will pay.

However, it's wrong to see the future as a time to make money while completely overwriting the efforts we put into the present. Every human being has their time ticking differently and this is why it's important to recognize when we're wasting time in the guise that we're garnering experience. Now the second type of people is those who are under the illusion that they're hustling and their efforts will inevitably pay.

Now, it's good to have faith and hope. Some people have wasted their time and efforts in the wrong profession, jobs, or even the wrong careers.

However, their passion is what keeps them blindly dedicated even when the signs are there that they shouldn't be in these places. Adaptability is one of the reasons why we're blinded to change. Nevertheless, the reason why we should be flexible is that time becomes shorter when we're wasting it. Sophistication has provided us with better opportunities than we have in the past, this is why we can be imperfect at what we do but still earn with them nonetheless.

Take a look at Crypto, so many people have immensely failed with it but they necessarily lost.

This means they learned, garnered experience, and still didn't hit ground zero with the losses they accrued.

The importance of sophistication is making life easier than it was and this is one of the reasons why we shouldn't attach wealth or riches to the future without understanding how impactful our present actions are at the moment.

Making money should be timeless irrespective of age because our lives are short as much as they seem long and vice versa.

While we can spend almost forever building something that's presently bereft of fruition, it's important to understand that our flexibility in life sometimes is key to changing our financial conditions.

No truer words, there is absolutely nothing wrong in being young and rich while acquiring experience

Exactly, but we've been meant to believe we should be broke and seeking experience, we can be flexible while acquiring life-long goals at the same time.

It’s the way Job givers put 20-35 years with 15 yrs work experience for me
Like how??
Make it make sense 🤣

Seems you were talking to me. At a time, I was solely addicted to a particular hustle. All signs it would not yield much was there, but I kept at it. Eventually it failed. If I had chosen other options open to me at that time, I would have made much progress.
Like you said, and I quite agree, flexibility is key.

I appreciate your comment, this place is a hub of learning, in reality, there's no time, we have to be flexible in life because it's bad to think there should be a time for us to suffer and a time to enjoy. We can be young and getting it. No time.

The world is going to see younger people attain financial freedom or sustainability considering the technological age we are now, gone are those days when younger people are seen as too young to start making money.
Give a young boy or girl a smartphone and internet, sooner or later money will be filling their wallet.

My uncle was like I was too young to make money, I was already 20, and imagine all that time I spent and them making me feel I needed to be old and experienced before I started making money. It's crazy. The future should be for the younger generation to maximize.

The illusion of age has thrown a lot of people off trail. Causing them to miss opportunities when they last attempting to bank on a future they know not of. Great article with an interesting tittle.

Time is of the essence this is why we should be flexible with our time and age. Nothing bad in being accomplished while learning at the same time.

Boss there is so much wisdom in what you have written out here. Little big folly for anyone who is hoping to make money in the future. Time itself is money and poor management of the time you have right now tends to poverty eventually.

Thanks brotherly, making money should be timeless, I don't believe we should attribute owning money to a particular time. It's in this particular side of the world that this particular mentality exists and it's a crazy one.

Me neither. And it begins with parenting, if kids can be thought the power of owning assets, stakes or even building a revenue, they won't keep waiting for some after school dream job to make doe..

What a really nice insight. When I was younger,i wasted 11 years of my years working for peanut. Though I was paid but still poor because there were alot of things I couldn't afford. The payment was just only to feed myself before you know it I was left with token for beggers. At a point,I had to call it quits and started working on myself, trying to create my own my business and I am better now. Sometimes when I recalled the years I have wasted working for someone,it saddens my heart, because my experience and young years have been drained and extorted. I love this write up🥂🍾

Thanks bro, in reality, I recount how I also wasted years of my life trying to work for experience rather than bettering myself Financially. Working to feed oneself alone is criminal, we cannot live to survive alone life provides us opportunities to thrive and this is why we cannot wait for years to start making money. It's a terrible situation.
Thanks for sharing your story

This is true in every extent, thinking the future would be better while having experience in the present. Truth is the present is as important as the future, so making money while being young is just perfect.

This is is the best, there's simply no age to make money, while experience is necessary in life, it's important to understand that it's not important for us to be experienced before we make money

This is in week the life one can have on earth 4000 weeks.
This is why compound helps to push while gathering experience.
Sooner or later you can hit the sparkle.

Exactly, compound interest while one is growing, gathering experience is the ideal thing, I'm happy that crypto is providing us this opportunity.

…..”Adaptability is one of the reasons why we're blinded to change”…. This right here!
We get comfortable and there’s no “ginger” to strive for anything.

It's common to be young and poor. At the same time, we have time to make mistakes and recover from them. It's also the best time to invest because compound interest is amazing.

You're right, it's common to be young and poor, but it's not necessary that we should be young and poor there's no joy in that. Compound interest going into the future is amazing

It is fucked up how family exploit younger ones. I see and hear similar stories all the time and like you, I hope they find the light in a worthwhile venture that pays dividend
