Getting a ring light is something I've always planned to do but then, I've not gotten myself to make that purchase, due to some niggling expenses that I've had to sort out.

Making videos, and taking photographs is something I've come to fall in love with and this might probably be because I craved pictorial aesthetics and a knack for visual perfection. This isn't an elaborate commodity when it comes to money I've only spent about 30$, including the shipping and everything. Only time would tell if it would be worth it.

I planned to set up a recording studio 🎙️ sometimes back, but money has been a huge constraint and the second reason was that I have a landlord that isn't so keen on people restructuring the pattern, design, or looks of his house. However the former seemed more important than the latter. However, I've been shooting my videos, inside my kitchen store, the fluorescent light in that room is diffused and the beam is quite powerful, but it's always difficult to shoot without electricity. Another thing is that running the generator in the background distorts the sound quality.

I have tried several microphones and they don't seem to work well. Maybe buying a decent microphone, or getting a gamer's headset would be better since I cannot set up any form of studio, in a house, I do not own. So shooting in my kitchen store hasn't been sustainable and this is because of the lack of constant electricity, another thing is that I get to stand rather than sit. Sitting while shooting, forestalls a relaxed mood and this helps me process my thoughts better while shooting.

The reason why I stand is that surprisingly putting my camera on the window correlates with my height, but it's still not a standard measurement.

However with a ring light, the stand is adjustable, I can adjust the stand to correlate with the angle of my body and face while sitting down at the same time. Also, with a ring light, I am going to be getting a makeshift camera stand and light at the same time.

I will also be getting the opportunity to shoot in the parlor, the study as well as the room. Another thing is, that videos thrive with the quality of light, sometimes natural light is not enough, especially when you want to get a different theme feel for the kind of content you're creating.
In this picture session, I asked my friend to model for me, while I take different shots using my Galaxy A72.

Now, these pictures were completely taken at night time and there wasn't any external light, except the one coming from the ring light. The beam isn't as powerful as I thought, but we texted the strength of the beam using a power bank as there was no electricity at all. The iPhone 12 I normally use is mounted on the stand and I was just behind taking the shots from different angles.

I totally get you.

I got a ring light similar to the one you have but I have not used it yet

I hate landlords that behave like witches...

But the pictures are really cool

Our own landlord isn't even living in the estate, he built his own separate house and he's a lawyer. So any sort of damage, he threatens to take us to court.
I've been using the light to do my videos and photo sessions. so far, I can shoot anyhow I want it.

Thanks man. You should find the time to make your videos

Discipline is a problem

Well, procrastination too... But then maybe the fear of being on screen?

Bro these photos are worth the investment. Surprisingly your vlogs come out pretty nice too. Until now, I wouldn’t have known you were shooting from your kitchen store. The videos come in very good quality and has great detail in them. I guess that’s both a combination of your iPhone 12’s power and your photography and video skills.

Who is your friend there btw?🙃

I was shooting from my kitchen store, but the angle of the camera made it more difficult to predict this. But then, I can shoot anywhere now because of this acquisition of mine. The post processing of the video is what's hard. Takes me hours. I'd have to agree that that iPhone 12 has been a beast

Who is your friend there btw?

He's my flatmate.

Thanks for coming through bro.

Well ring light is multi-purposed and it's for all gender. It's TikTok that made us think it's only for women. However, it's an essential tool in vlogging and photography too as well.

I use ringlight too for my YouTube videos. It's not for girls or tiktok alone oo.

If you get less likes and the Algo leaves your video for you alone, you ll have to work on quality videos with good brightness.

Lol

This has gingered me more to get a ring light too. It has been in my mind to get it, especially recording a video song for the Hive Open Mic community.

My room is something I cannot describe because it's a typical example of a local house in Ondo state. I can't wait to get out of this house for a better accommodation and that would happen once I am posted for my NYSC soon, perhaps this year. I just can't wait to get my ring light for better and quality presentation.

I understand what you mean.. I mean, location matters a lot when it comes to photography and videography. The setting offers a huge contribution. The truth is with a better location in sight, we even replicate good videos, I guess this is psychological.
Anyway, I think we should change or switch up a lot when it comes to our content creation process. Hopefully you can move to somewhere more pleasing.

Lol.. I have 2 .. for bi directional light.
One of which is a multi colored one and I must say it beautifies my videos.

That's great to hear. Ring light is great to have as it helps hone your video skills too.

I like photo #5 due to the effect of the light bouncing off the model's skin and the shadow above his head which resembles either a lightbulb or the wake of an aura.

I see you one day opening a multi-purpose recording/vlogging/podcasting studio as an incubator for content creators. Maybe you'll call it: 'Creatives by Josediccus' or some such, but it will be a magnet for inventive minds througout the region. :)

Thank you, I also liked the aura created by the fifth image, I guess sometimes we often underestimate the essence of the angle of a camera when it comes to taking pictures. In that situation I was trying to experiment with the different angles and I'm glad it came out well.

I see myself doing this as well in the future, I like photography, just that I'm not in the level I want at the moment, I'm hoping to actually become better. Thanks for the warm comment.

Explicit pictures here...
I was thinking it was all about photography but reading about your interest in have a recording studio got me.

I have a recording studio, mobile as I can get it on my bed or in a standard studio. I had to get a sound card and so far It's been good

The use of a ring light is beautiful too, it make it less stressful and less noisy. Sorry about your landlord. For me a bit of adjustment and wall designs will do.

On the choice of mic, most pin mics are either dynamic or phantom. I got an iPhone phantom mic which can only work in a quite place, but then white noise still enters.

So far I cope with my behringer sound card and it's been cool, recently got a studio mic behringer C3. I can't believe the ease it being to my recording.

Visual and sounds cost some bucks but not as much as people think. I ll work on a break down of all I ve gotten so far. But I don't think it's up to $500 yet.

Stop advising me I don't want to buy ring light😂😂😂😂. Every content creator needs a good phone and a ring light. I recently started my own content and truly I need a ring light at least. Please how much did you buy yours? I need one that comes with an adapter

Since I'm broke at the moment, I bought the one of 10k the one with adaptor might go as high as 26k, because it's about 18 inches I guess.. in reality, I think everyone who's a content creator needs gadgets
