Gundala/RedStorm

Sancaka es un niño que perdió a su padre en una manifestación, perdiendo su madre un año después luego que ella se fuera de su casa para nunca volver, el joven huérfano sobrevivió su vida hasta convertirse en un guardia de seguridad con afinidad para la tecnología, teniendo el recuerdo de su familia de pequeño y su temor por los relámpagos vigente.

Sancaka is a boy who lost his father in a protest, losing his mother a year later after she left home never to return, the young orphan survived his life to become a security guard with an affinity for technology, having the memory of his family as a child and his current fear of lightning.

Una película Indonesia de superheroes, no sabia que realmente iba a llegar a ver, pero quise ver que podría ofrecer un mercado de entretenimiento de otra parte del mundo, en este caso, Gundala, una película de dos horas de duración acerca de un héroe que tiene el poder del rayo a su lado, salvando al pueblo de las injusticias.

Una de las cosas que más me sorprendió es que es una película del 2019, pensé que se trataba de una propuesta nueva y fresca, pero es un proyecto que ya lleva años. Gundala, parece ser un inicio de un universo cinematográfico de héroes, por su inicio al estilo DC Comics donde muestran varios héroes y/o villanos, trate de buscar información al respecto pero creo que no han salido más películas de este universo.

La película obtuvo el doble en recaudación de lo que costo hacerla, viéndose como un éxito y que probablemente harán más de estas películas, sin estar seguro de eso pero sin dudar que sucederá en un futuro. La historia, empieza con una presentación de orígenes con un poco de desarrollo de personaje, creo que se tomaron mucho tiempo mostrando los orígenes pero también es necesario, y mucho más si quieren hacer todo un universo, llegue a pensar que seria una película muy mala con malas actuaciones o situaciones ridículas, por antiguas películas que he visto, pero la verdad es que la película si sigue una historia basada en algo, las actuaciones son maravillosas y los personajes interesantes.

Puede que haya uno que otro hueco argumental pero de eso no se salva siquiera Marvel o DC Comics en sus películas, así que no es un punto débil, lo que si podría serlo es presentar tan rápido que habrá un enemigo muy fuerte para la siguiente entrega, como un Thanos o un Darkside, si fuesen mantenido el misterio un poco más, tal vez fuese más atrapante. Una película de superheroes que nos muestra otro lado del mundo con sus problemas, teniendo acción y un poco de misterio, la receta de varias películas de héroes que hemos visto con los años ¿Le darías un chance a Gundala?

An Indonesian superhero movie, I didn't know what I was actually going to see, but I wanted to see what an entertainment market from another part of the world could offer, in this case, Gundala, a two-hour movie about a hero who has the power of lightning at his side, saving the people from injustice.

One of the things that surprised me the most is that it is a 2019 film, I thought it was a new and fresh proposal, but it is a project that has been going on for years. Gundala seems to be the beginning of a cinematographic universe of heroes, due to its beginning in the style of DC Comics where they show several heroes and/or villains, try to find information about it but I think that no more films have come out of this universe.

The film got twice the gross of what it cost to make it, looking like a success and that they will probably make more of these films, not sure about that but no doubting that it will happen in the future. The story begins with a presentation of origins with a bit of character development, I think they took a long time showing the origins but it is also necessary, and much more if they want to make an entire universe, I came to think that it would be a very bad movie with bad performances or ridiculous situations, because of old movies I've seen, but the truth is that the film follows a story based on something, the performances are wonderful and the characters are interesting.

There may be one or another plot hole but even Marvel or DC Comics are not saved from that in their movies, so it is not a weak point, what it could be is to present it so quickly that there will be a very strong enemy for the next installment, like a Thanos or a Darkside, if they kept the mystery a little longer, maybe it would be more engaging. A superhero movie that shows us another side of the world with its problems, having action and a bit of mystery, the recipe for several hero movies that we have seen over the years. Would you give Gundala a chance?
