Ghostland: Tierra sin ley/Prisoners of Ghostland (Reseña/Review)

En una ciudad extraña en medio de la nada llamada Samurai Town, se encuentra prisionero un atracador de bancos que no tuvo tanta suerte al escapar, el jefe de allí, El Gobernador, necesita de alguien capaz de buscar a su nieta que escapo de Samurai Town, y nadie mejor que un recluso que a nadie le importara que no regrese con vida.

In a strange city in the middle of nowhere called Samurai Town, a bank robber is imprisoned who was not so lucky to escape, the boss there, The Governor, needs someone capable of looking for his granddaughter who escaped from Samurai Town, and nobody better than an inmate who nobody cared if he didn't come back alive.

De vez en cuando me tomo la libertad de agarrar una película que no se nada para sorprenderme con el resultado de mi elección, no veo trailers, no leo reseñas, solo escojo algo al azar y lo veo, en este caso es Ghostland, una película protagonizada por Nicolas Cage, luego de tantos años regresa a la pantalla grande con una película western oriental.

La película empieza con un poco de confusión entre las escenas, sin saber como se llego o a donde ira, normalmente en el transcurso de la película se puede ver las razones de porque todo empezó de esa manera. Lamentablemente, en esta entrega no es así. Ghostland tiene demasiadas lagunas argumentales sin contar las contradicciones que se ven en el camino, es ridícula y llega a un punto de ser aburrida por lo poco coherente que es.

En un principio llegue a pensar que era una película en broma de Nicolas Cage por su regreso, ya que vi que se haría o una película o una serie; no puedo recordar bien, de su vida donde intenta regresar al mundo del cine, siendo esta como una presentación a esa producción, pero la verdad es que pertenece a alguien más, a Sono Sion, un director Japones con más de cuarenta películas a su nombre, teniendo un gran trayecto en el mundo cinematográfico.

Al saber algo como eso es difícil considerar que una película como Ghostland haya sido tan mala, con las escenas de Samurai Town que se nota que fue en un estudio con las luces apagadas y en el exterior el primer lugar baldío que consiguieron. Se dice que si no te gusta el cine experimental y de culto no te gustara esta película, algo con lo que he luchado internamente sobre ese "cine de culto" y el "cine experimental" donde parece que las reglas que se debe seguir para que todo salga bien no se haga porque se hace desde el alma artística. Como el arte expresionismo abstracto, donde no se ve nada, pero algún "conocedor" de arte es capaz de decirte que es una visión de como se ve la vida.

Estoy en contra de este estilo de arte, porque hace ver que los artistas son raros, que solo se entienden entre ellos, que los verdaderos artistas hacen este estilo de arte y no el que estamos acostumbrados a ver, como el bonito con buenas tomas o una historia simple de entender, pero ya es mi opinión personal al respecto. Es una película corta de una hora y media, llena de escenas sin sentido y una pésima actuación de Nicolas Cage, donde lo más probable solo sirva para hacer memes.

Every once in a while I take the liberty of grabbing a movie I don't know anything about to surprise me with the result of my choice, I don't watch trailers, I don't read reviews, I just pick something at random and watch it, in this case it's Ghostland, a movie starring Nicolas Cage, after so many years returns to the big screen with an oriental western film.

The movie starts with a bit of confusion between the scenes, not knowing how it got there or where it will go, normally in the course of the movie you can see the reasons why everything started that way. Unfortunately, this is not the case in this installment. Ghostland has too many plot gaps without counting the contradictions that are seen along the way, it is ridiculous and reaches a point of being boring because of how inconsistent it is.

At first I came to think that it was a joke movie by Nicolas Cage because of his return, since I saw that it would be made either a movie or a series; I can not remember well, of his life where he tries to return to the world of cinema, this being like a presentation to that production, but the truth is that it belongs to someone else, to Sono Sion, a Japanese director with more than forty films to his name, having a great journey in the cinematographic world.

Knowing something like that, it's hard to consider a movie like Ghostland to have been that bad, with the scenes in Samurai Town showing that it was in a studio with the lights off and outside the first vacant place they got. It is said that if you don't like experimental and cult cinema you won't like this film, something that I have struggled with internally about that "cult cinema" and "experimental cinema" where it seems that the rules that must be followed so that everything goes well, it is not done because it is done from the artistic soul. Like abstract expressionism art, where you don't see anything, but some "connoisseur" of art is able to tell you that it is a vision of life.

I am against this style of art, because it shows that artists are rare, that they only understand each other, that true artists do this style of art and not the one we are used to seeing, like the pretty one with good shots or a simple story to understand, but it is my personal opinion about it. It is a short movie of an hour and a half, full of meaningless scenes and a lousy performance by Nicolas Cage, where most likely it will only serve to make memes.
