Happy Sunday (or Monday) to you, Hive friends!! 👋

As I've been sharing outfit shots lately, I thought it would be best to share the outfit I donned last 2k18 Sinulog.

For those of you who do not know, "Sinulog" is a yearly festival that happens every third Sunday of January here in the queen city of the South - Cebu City. It is a celebration that honours Senyor Santo Niño or the Holy Child Jesus. It's also during this time that the city commemorates the bringing of the Spaniards of the Senyor Santo Niño image here in our island. It's a way of thanking them for bringing Christianity in our country.

Every Sinulog, there's a competition among dancers here in the city and the province - to showcase how they can thank the Hold Child Jesus through their music and dance. All the dancers from the provincial parts of Cebu come all the way to the city and stay in public schools as they await for the most special day that they compete and dance.

On Sinulog day (3rd Sunday of January), a lot of people go to Cebu City Sports Complex to witness the dance competition and celebrate the festivities! Many can be seen on the streets as well since the dancers go out from the Complex and into the streets, as there's Street Dancing as part of the contest. It is truly a big event every year for all Cebuanos! Many people outside Cebu also come here and witness the grand activities arranged for the festival.

Looking back I've always appreciated how Sinulog unite Cebu - all political differences and business agendas are set aside just to celebrate the festival. People are out and about the streets, enjoying the music and cheering for the dancers on the streets. It's a bummer indeed how in 2021 and 2022 we did not get to celebrate because of the covid pandemic. We hope next year it's going to be better!

The photos in this post were taken Sinulog 2k18. I bought a Sinulog t-shirt and designed it to have some fringes and all - something Boho-style would do. I also got a colourful headdress to accent the entire look, for that festival-ready outfit. I chose to have a black jeans because I was thinking I might overdo if I choose something with colour for my pants haha.

How about you, Hive friend? Do you also have festivals in your city? How do you celebrate it? What do you think about the festivities? 🎉
