Un día de paseo por La Guaira / A day trip to La Guaira

Hace algunos días realicé un paseo con mi familia a una de las costas venezolanas que se encuentra más cerca de Caracas, el estado La Guaira. Como vivimos en el estado Miranda al este de Caracas y era un viaje de ida y vuelta el mismo día, nos levantamos muy temprano para salir. El trayecto fue de aproximadamente 1 hora sin tráfico en la que recorrimos 60 kilómetros.

La Guaira es uno de los estados de Venezuela donde predomina el turismo local, el comercio internacional y donde está el aeropuerto más grande del país, Aeropuerto Internacional de Maiquetía. Gran parte de los caraqueños va de paseo los fines de semana o incluso en medio de esta pandemia también se aprovecha los días entre semana. La idea es cambiar de ambiente y de la rutina diaria, quizás comprar pescado fresco en El Mosquero (mercado de pescado muy popular) o simplemente pasar un día distinto en compañía de la familia.

La economía del estado se basa también en las numerosas importaciones que se llevan a cabo a través del puerto aduanero donde se reciben millones de productos en embarcaciones de otros países o a través de la importación aérea por medio del aeropuerto.

Venezuela tiene tanta diversidad geográfica que gran parte de las costas de La Guaira se encuentra en la falda norte del Parque Nacional Waraira Repano aunque todos lo seguimos nombrando por su antiguo nombre Cerro El Ávila. Para los que practican senderismo de alto nivel esto es una nota porque pueden subir al cerro desde Caracas, acampar en la noche y luego bajar hasta La Guaira.

Desde la playa Marina Grande se puede apreciar nuestro maravilloso Ávila. La punta que se ve a lo lejos, es el Humbolt.

Mis niños estaban muy emocionados porque teníamos tiempo sin ir a la playa por el confinamiento de la pandemia. El día estaba hermoso y en nuestra mente sólo estaba la idea de disfrutar el mar caribeño. También nos acompañó en este hermoso día @tibaire. Ella es su tía por lo que es sinónimo de diversión. 🤣

Habíamos decidido ir a un balneario privado porque nos gusta la tranquilidad y pasarla bien en un ambiente familiar. Marina Grande es una playa privada que cuenta con duchas, vestuario, parque infantil, bohíos, toldos, sillas de playa, cancha de voleibol y toda una playa tranquila con muy poco oleaje por sus rompeolas. Para mayor comodidad de los visitantes también hay un par de tienditas donde ofrecen toda clase de snacks, bebidas alcohólicas y no alcohólicas por lo cual nosotros aprovechamos para tomarnos un par de cervezas bien frías. También cuenta con un restaurante donde ofrecen el típico pescado frito que normalmente es pargo o curvina, yuca, tostones o ensaladas. El menú rondaba los $14 sin bebida.

Balneario Marina Grande.

El sitio es excelente para los niños. La entrada de este lugar cuesta $7 adultos y $3 niños y con la entrada viene todo la estadía incluida, es decir, toldo, sillas y la posibilidad de usar las instalaciones como bohíos, duchas, canchas, estacionamiento, vestuario y parque infantil. Las comidas y bebidas se deben pagar a parte. Pero incluso a pesar de que es una playa privada y si no quieres gastar más de lo necesario, tienes la opción de llevar tu propia comida y bebida.

Con mi hijo menor. El agua estaba tibia y no queriamos salir del mar.

El lugar es bastante tranquilo. Se respeta el distanciamiento social y las normas de bioseguridad. Los toldos, a diferencia de años anteriores, no están pegados unos a otros. Todo muy limpio, hay seguridad y puesto de salvavidas. Las personas del lugar me comentaron que los fines de semana flexibles va más gente de lo normal. Si te gusta la tranquilidad te recomiendo vayas un día de semana preferiblemente lunes o martes como nosotros lo hicimos.

¡Está demás decir que la pasamos muy bien! Fue un día distinto y agradable para mí y mi familia. Nos hacía falta este tipo de distracción, ya que por la pandemia nuestras salidas han sido limitadas. Siempre nos han gustado los viajes al mar y nuestro lugar predilecto es el Parque Nacional Morrocoy en el estado Falcón. Y debo ser sincera, estábamos reacios a ir a La Guaira porque casi siempre nos sucede algo 😞, pero esta vez fue distinto y nos gustó mucho el lugar para ir de visita en un viaje de ida y vuelta el mismo día 😁.

Escuchar las olas del mar, sentir los rayos del sol y el viento en nuestro rostro no tiene precio. Esa sensación de tranquilidad que te brinda el mar es única. Sin duda alguna volvería a esta maravillosa playa. La recomiendo 👍.

A few days ago I took a trip with my family to one of the Venezuelan coasts closest to Caracas, the state of La Guaira. As we live in Miranda state east of Caracas and it was a round trip the same day, we got up very early to leave. The drive was about 1 hour with no traffic in which we covered 60 kilometers.

La Guaira is one of the states of Venezuela where local tourism, international commerce, and the largest airport in the country, Simon Bolivar International Airport of Maiquetía are predominant. A large part of the people of Caracas go there on weekends or even in the midst of this pandemic, they also take advantage of the weekdays. The idea is to change the environment and the daily routine, perhaps buy fresh fish in El Mosquero (very popular fish market) or just spend a different day in the company of the family.

The economy of the state is also based on the numerous imports that are carried out through the customs port where millions of products are received in ships from other countries or through air imports via the airport.

Venezuela is so geographically diverse that much of the coast of La Guaira lies on the northern slopes of Waraira Repano National Park, although we all still refer to it by its old name, Cerro El Avila. For high-level hikers, this is cool because they can hike up the hill from Caracas, camp overnight, and then hike down to La Guaira.

From Marina Grande beach you can see our wonderful El Avila. The point that can be seen in the distance is the Humboldt peak.

My kids were very excited because we had time without going to the beach due to the confinement of the pandemic. The day was beautiful and in our mind was only the idea of enjoying the Caribbean sea. We were also joined on this beautiful day by @tibaire. She is his aunt so for them, she is synonymous with fun. 🤣

We had decided to go to a private beach because we like tranquility and having a good time in a family atmosphere. Marina Grande is a private beach with showers, changing rooms, playground, huts, awnings, beach chairs, volleyball court, and a quiet beach with very little waves due to its breakwaters. For the convenience of visitors, there are also a couple of small shops where they offer all kinds of snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages so we took the opportunity to take a couple of cold beers. There is also a restaurant where they offer the typical fried fish, usually snapper or sea bass, yucca, toasts, or salads. The menu was around $14 without drinks.

The site is excellent for children. The entrance fee for this place is $7 for adults and $3 children and with the entrance fee comes the entire stay included, that is, awning, chairs, and the possibility of using the facilities such as huts, showers, courts, parking, changing rooms and playground. Meals and drinks must be paid for separately. But even though it is a private beach and if you do not want to spend more than necessary, you have the option to bring your own food and drinks.

The place is quite quiet. Social distancing and biosecurity rules are respected. The canopies, unlike previous years, are not attached to each other. Everything is very clean, there is security and a lifeguard station. The locals told me that on flexible weekends there are more people than usual. If you like tranquility I recommend you go on a weekday preferably Monday or Tuesday as we did.

Needless to say, we had a great time! It was a different and enjoyable day for me and my family. We needed this kind of distraction, as due to the pandemic our outings have been limited. We have always enjoyed trips to the sea and our favorite place is the Morrocoy National Park in the state of Falcon. And I must be honest, we were reluctant to go to La Guaira because almost always something happens to us 😞, but this time it was different and we really liked the place to go visit on a round trip the same day 😁.

Listening to the waves of the sea, feeling the sun's rays and the wind on our faces is priceless. That feeling of tranquility that the sea gives you is unique. I would definitely come back to this wonderful beach. I recommend it 👍.

We spotted several birds, including pigeons, seagulls, pelicans, and even vultures.

The seagull is probably carrying in its beak a snack that it stole from an unsuspecting seasonal visitor 😂.
