Embarking on the now lucrative casava business
HELLO HIVE
Few years back my topic for this post wouldn't have been this way it would have been something like farming cassava without the lucrative word in it that is glimpse on how expensive cassava has become and the reduced amount of cassava in circulation this days.
My family used to have a big farm where we used cultivate cassava and maize only but now the land has become deserted due to the current insecurities in the country.
Most of the cassava farms then where cultivated in areas that are far from the environment where people live its around places you can easily classify as forest the land around this places are easily very fertile and are large so you can easily call them large scale farms, the nature of cassava and how easy it is to cultivate it compared to any other crop then made it a crop that many where ready to invest millions into it, many youths that wanted to go into agriculture where using this crop as a start up plan and all this made cassava to be very much circulated and cheap because of the competition around it.
Now the insecurity around parts like this has caused many farmers to abandon their farms and cause the its production rate to fall significantly and make the price to increase relative to its decreased amount of farmers planting this crops.
Am just planting a small portion of land for this and am planning to use it for my family, what I would use it for will be decided upon once the cassava is ready since there are my things I can use it for ranging from making cassava flakes called garri to even selling it if the market becomes more lucrative.
