I've Quit Jobs for Good

At my last job (in a startup, no less), I swore never to have a job again.

Never to be under an incompetent manager — whose ideas about how to run a company border on naiveté.

Never to have to carry out unproductive and useless tasks — just because the boss said so.

Never to have to play office politics ever again — and jostle with a younger lady whose words dripped with honey and smiles hid drawn knives.

Is it some variant of the Stockholm syndrome that is ailing me, when I think fondly upon the time I used to receive a regular injection of capital inflow every month, on a set date?

Ah, how nice would it be to have money flowing in and I need not worry!

But they do term it 'compensation' for a reason.

Compensation for the endless days and nights of frustration, looking out at the sunny skies whilst hunched over a laptop, writing endless Reports that nobody really reads.

"What have you done this week?"

I remember listing down a bunch of things, down to the minutiae of attending an inter-departmental meeting, because I simply cannot be outdone by that younger lady who also bombarded the page with her list of minutiae.

Is it efficient, for me or for my boss? Probably not. But is it necessary? Yes, for my own promotion — if I still want my boss to maintain a good impression of me. This is how corporate inefficiencies morph into necessities and become entrenched as such.

Back to my promise to self: At my last job, I swore never to have a job again.

A job kills my soul, even if it sustains my bodily needs. I know there's many people out there who do not mind the 9-5, but it's unfortunate I am not one of them.

I've quit jobs for good.

If our bosses or managers is incompetent then it is very difficult for us to survive in the job because they don't try to understand and even they don't know a lot of things but still try to show that they are all in all.

It's better to back-off than to work in some deleterious environment. Hope you're doing fine mate. Take care ❤
