Experiencia de cura sucia para el pie diabético

Hola mi gente bonita espero en Dios todos estén bien, como siempre es un gusto compartir con ustedes a través de esta plataforma. Hoy nos fuimos a mi querido pueblo de Caripito a visitar a la familia y dar una vuelta, cosa que me hace súper feliz, ya que en ese pueblo están mis recuerdos y mis raíces. Estando allí, como mi querida hermana sabe de mis conocimientos de medicina me comenta que la mamá de una amiga está algo complicada con un pie y me dice para ir a verla.

Today we went to my beloved town of Caripito to visit the family and take a walk, which makes me super happy, because in that town are my memories and my roots. While there, as my dear sister knows about my knowledge of medicine, she tells me that the mother of a friend of mine has a complicated foot and tells me to go to see her.

Llegamos a la casa y su hija nos comenta que efectivamente la señora está padeciendo de pie diabético en el inferior izquierdo, aquella situación me ocasionó un deja vu, puesto que mi querida y amada madre entre sus padecimientos en algún momento tuve un pie diabético y justamente esta señora estaba igualita. Su hija nos menciona que ya había sido evaluada por un médico internista y uno cirujano y los dos habían coincidido que amputar era la mejor opción para la señora.

We arrived at the house and her daughter told us that indeed the lady is suffering from diabetic foot in the lower left side, that situation caused me a deja vu, since my dear and beloved mother among her ailments at some point I had a diabetic foot and just this lady was just the same. Her daughter mentioned to us that she had already been evaluated by an internist and a surgeon and both had agreed that amputation was the best option for the lady.

Esto, como comprenderán, no es una decisión fácil nos dice la muchacha entre lágrimas. Yo la entendí totalmente, una situación similar ocurrió con mamá. Yo con mi humildad le compartí la experiencia que tuve.

This, as you can understand, is not an easy decision, the girl told us in tears. I understood her completely, a similar situation happened with my mother. I humbly shared my experience with her.

En su momento el traumatólogo que vio a mamá nos dijo que había que amputar el miembro inferior derecho puesto que la infección está en el hueso. Mamá tenía producto de una quemadura por contacto, una úlcera en el talón derecho el cual había avanzado de forma rápida y agresiva, que esa era la mejor opción la cual para mi hermana y para mí en su momento no fue una opción puesto que mi madre decía que prefería morirse a que le cortaran una pierna.

At the time, the traumatologist who saw Mom told us that the right lower limb had to be amputated because the infection was in the bone. Mom had, as a result of a contact burn, an ulcer on her right heel which had advanced rapidly and aggressively, that this was the best option which for my sister and me at the time was not an option since my mother said she would rather die than have her leg cut off.

Gracias a la excelente doctora que por años atendió nuestro caso, la Dra. Nabrusca Camejo, nos dijo que llevaría a un colega especialista en pie diabético, el cual llegó como un ángel a darnos claridad en aquella oscuridad donde nos encontrábamos mi hermana y yo, la cual asumo se encuentra esta muchacha actualmente. El doctor nos brindó una opción que yo nunca me había podido imaginar, les confieso que no podía creer eso y tuve un poco de incredulidad al decirnos que era lo que debíamos hacer.

Thanks to the excellent doctor who for years attended our case, Dr. Nabrusca Camejo, she told us that she would take us to a colleague specialist in diabetic foot, who arrived like an angel to give us clarity in that darkness where my sister and I were, which I assume this girl is currently. The doctor gave us an option that I could never have imagined, I confess that I could not believe it and I had a bit disbelief when he told us what we should do.

Él recomendó realizarles “cura sucia” como se dice en la jerga médica, lo que representaba colocar en un recipiente con agua a temperatura ambiente en el cual el pie quedará sumergido por completo allí, el mismo sería de uso exclusivo para aquella cura, allí se debía colocar 10 cc de cloro inicialmente, colocar el pie allí, esperar un rato y luego secarlo, posterior a ello colocar 10 cc de vinagre y realizar el mismo procedimiento, con la variante que en el caso de mamá se debía pasar un cepillo quirúrgico, de esos que tienen como Betadine de un lado y un celdas de cepillo del otro lado; pasar fuerte las primeras curas y posteriormente no tan fuerte.

Para ese momento mamá ya tenía el calcáneo expuesto es decir el hueso del talón, el mismo estaba necrótico. La primera cura se la realizó el doctor en ese momento, y nos comentó que el secreto para que eso funcionara era controlar los niveles de glucosa en sangre y realizar la cura diaria. Él nos explicaba que por ser antisépticos no permitían que las bacterias no proliferarán y los resultados en la mayoría de los casos eran buenos. Pues así tal como indico aquel doctor se inició a hacer y les puedo asegurar que a mi mamá le estaba funcionado, yo diariamente realizaba la cura y para el momento de ella irse a descansar, su hueso ya no estaba negro, no había mal olor y el paso siguiente era colocar unos apósitos para que concluyera la cicatrización de la herida.

Quiero ser muy claro y responsable con esto, tal como le comente a la amiga de mi hermana esta es una experiencia personal, recomendada por un doctor, pero no deja de ser un experiencia personal, es probable que a no a todos les funciones, cada paciente es una historia particular. Lo ideal es que acuda a su médico de confianza y con la ayuda y orientación de este, busquen la mejor opción para la pronta mejoría del paciente.
