Hello again #Hive friends!.... Welcome to a new installment of my "Stolen Stories" in the streets and roads of my town Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela)... I'm still here, doing this very often, wandering through the streets and merging with the streets of the town that are full of anecdotes, everyday life and people...

¡Hola nuevamente amigos de #Hive!... Bienvenidos a una nueva entrega de mis "Historias Robadas" en las calles y caminos de mi pueblo Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela)... Yo sigo aquí, haciendo esto con mucha frecuencia, deambulando por las calles y fundiendome con las calles del pueblo que están repletas de anécdotas, cotidianidad y gente...

"Take two for the price of one"... Andrés sells pumpkins (here we call them "Auyamas") in a improvised kiosk on the side of the road in front of his small plot of land where he grows them... And it's always good to go there to buy some after midday when Andrés starts to sell off the remaining ones (which are usually the smallest ones) with his famous "2 for 1" offer...

"Lleve dos por el precio de una"... Andrés vende calabazas (aquí les llamamos "Auyamas") en un kiosco improvisado a la orilla del camino en frente de su pequeño terreno donde las cultiva... Y siempre es bueno ir allí a comprar después del medio día cuando Andrés comienza a rematar las que quedan (que suelen ser las mas pequeñas) con su famosa oferta de "2x1"...

"The girl observing"... A little girl stops and looks at me curiously, she walks down the street in front of her humble dwelling, the fence built with pieces of plastic baskets taken from the rubbish bin, reminds me how difficult it can be here, for many, to build something as simple as a dividing wall for their garden...

"La niña observando"... Una niña se detiene y me mira curiosamente, ella va por la calle en frente de su humilde vivienda, la verja construida con pedazos de cestos plásticos tomados del basurero, me recuerda lo difícil que puede ser aquí, para muchos, construir algo tan simple como una parid divisoria para su jardín...

"Friendship"... The most humble corners of my village often give me the best photos... In this picture, two children sitting on an old log are talking and feeding a stray dog... What delighted me most was to hear that the children were not talking to each other, but were talking to the dog as if it were part of the conversation. .... And of course it was!... No one can deny me that!... I love to find these scenes!...

"Amistad"... Los rincones más humildes de mi pueblo, con frecuencia me regalan las mejores fotos... En esta imagen, dos niños sentados sobre un viejo tronco conversan y dan de comer a un perro callejero... Lo que más me encantó fue escuchar que los niños no hablaban entre sí, sino que le hablaban al perro como si fuera parte de la conversación.... ¡Y claro que lo era!... ¡Nadie me podrá negar eso!... ¡Amo encontrar estas escenas!...

"We've already found water, now let's look for gas"... That's what I heard this couple say when they passed me pulling a wheelbarrow with their motorbike... Such is the daily life of many here, first looking for one thing and then getting ready to look for another.... Nothing can be taken for granted here...

"Ya encontramos agua, ahora busquemos gas"... ¡Eso fue lo que le escuché decir a esta pareja cuando pasaron a mi lado halando una carretilla con su motocicleta... Así es el acontecer diario de muchos aquí, primero buscar una cosa y luego disponerse a buscar otra... Nada puede darse por sentado aquí...

"Puppy"... Here in my village, it's impossible to escape the gaze of the hundreds of stray dogs in the streets... That's why, in a good part of my street photography works, dogs appear... The "emotional factor" that dogs give to street images is something that I might not be able to have so readily available elsewhere.

"Cachorro"... Aquí en mi pueblo, es imposible desligarse de las miradas de los cientos de perros callejeros que hay en lasa calles... Es por eso que, en buena parte de mis trabajos de fotografía callejera aparecen perros... El "factor emocional" que los perros otorgan a las imágenes de calle, es algo que quizás no podría tener tan a mano en otros lugares.

"House leaving"... The old houses with roofs of logs and clay tiles, with walls made of mud bricks and straw, little by little and one after the other, are falling into abandonment and disappearing... So, with each old house that collapses, the village loses a little bit of its former identity and somehow some part of its history disappears... I played as a child inside that house that you see in this photo... It was a small and charming house, where the grandparents of a schoolmate lived, but when they died, the house was left alone and slowly "died too" ...

"Casa yéndose"... Las viejas casas con techos de troncos y tejas de arcillas, con las paredes hechas de ladrillos de barro y paja, poco a poco y una tras otra, van cayendo en el abandono y desapareciendo... Entonces, con cada vieja casa que se derrumba, el pueblo pierde un poco de su identidad de antaño y de alguna manera alguna parte de su historia desaparece... Yo jugué de niño dentro de esa casa que ven en esta foto... Era una casa pequeña y encantadora, allí vivían los abuelos de un compañero de escuela, pero cuando ellos murieron, la casa quedó sola y lentamente "murió"...

"Tico"... My friend Tico lives in the mountains and comes down to the village at weekends to visit his relatives here... Tico claims to be 60 years old, but he looks much younger... I imagine this is true, as I have seen him come and go to the mountains since I was a boy of about 10 and back then he looked older than me... But now I look like his grandfather and I'm almost a decade younger than him!... ha ha ha 😂... The climate of the mountains seems to keep him very well!...

"Tico"... Mi amigo Tico vive en las montañas y desciende al pueblo los fines de semana para visitar a sus familiares aquí... Tico dice tener 60 años, pero luce mucho más joven... Imagino que es cierto, pues le he visto ir y venir a las montañas desde que yo era un chico de unos 10 años y en ese entonces el lucía mayo que yo... ¡Pero ahora yo parezco su abuelo y soy casi una década menor que él!... ha ha ha 😂... ¡El clima de las montañas parece conservarle muy bien!...

"Come on man, let's scare the photographer!"... I'm about to believe that someone is training dogs to chase me when they see me taking pictures!... 😂😂😂😂... And this pair of dogs are not strays, I've seen them coming out of a house!... They were quiet the whole time, but as soon as I took my camera out of my bag, they started running and barking in the direction of me... ha ha ha ha.... I don't even usually run anymore!... I just stand there and they come a bit close then get annoyed and turn away...

"¡Ven amigo, asustemos al fotógrafo!"... ¡Estoy a punto de creer que alguien está entrenando perros para que me persigan cuando me ven hacer fotos!... 😂😂😂... ¡Y estepar de perros no son callejeros, les he visto salir de una casa!... Estuvieron tranquilos todo el tiempo, pero apenas saqué mi cámara del bolso, comenzaron a correr y a ladrar en dirección hacia mí.... ja ja ja... ¡Ya ni siquiera suelo correr!... Simplemente me quedo allí de pie y ellos llegan un poco cerca luego se fastidian y se dan la vuelta...
