Hello dear #Hive friends!.... Today has been a slightly complicated Friday.... I spent part of my morning doing some shopping and then delivering some stuff I sold (I sell some small computer gadgets and stuff like that).... So in the middle of the day, after lunch, I was waiting for the electrician (some contactors had to be replaced, as their life span has come to an end)... My wife had gone to visit her parents and my daughter had gone to her gym... I was stuck at home then!

¡Hola queridos amigos de #Hive!... Hoy ha sido un viernes ligereamente complicado... Ocupé parte de mi mañana haciendo algunas compras y luego entregando algunas cosas que vendí (vendo algunos pequeños gadgets de computación y cosas por el estilo)... Así que en horas del mediodía, después de almorzar, me encontraba esperando al electricista (había que cambiar algunos contactores, pues su vida útil ha llegando a su final)... Mi esposa había ido a visitar a sus padres y mi hija se largo a su gimnasio... ¡Estaba atrapado en casa entonces!

So, as it was time for the electrician to arrive, I took my camera and attached my little 35mm fixed lens to it and said to myself: "Jesus, since you can't go outside, you'll take your pictures today at home"... And that's how I ended up taking pictures in my little old house!... By the way, that beautiful kitty in the first picture in this post is "Chiky"... And she has her typical grumpy face for being interrupted during her nap! 😂😻

Entonces, mientras se hacía la hora de llegar el electricista, tomé mi cámara y le coloqué mi pequeño objetivo fijo de 35mm y me dije: "Jesús, debido a que no puedes salir a la calle, harás tus fotos de hoy en casa"... ¡Y así fue como terminé haciendo fotos en mi pequeña y vieja casa!... Por cierto, esa hermosa gatita en la primera foto en esta publicación es "Chiky"... ¡Y tiene su típica cara de mal humor por ser interrumpida durante su siesta! 😂😻

My house has been in the possession of someone in my family since it was built at the beginning of the 20th century (according to the documents, it was registered in 1902). There have been 6 generations owning this house, however, the land on which it stands has belonged to my mother's family since the village was founded some 280 years ago.... You can imagine that there is a lot inside this house that ties me to it!

Mi casa ha estado en posesión de alguien de mi familia desde que fue construida a principios del siglo XX (Según los documentos, se registró en 1902) Han sido 6 generaciones poseyendo esta casa, sin embargo, el terreno donde se yergue ha pertenecido a la familia de mi madre desde que el pueblo fue fundado hace unos 280 años atrás... ¡Se podrán imaginar que hay mucho dentro de esta casa que me ata a ella!.

When I was a child of 7 or 8 years old, I used to come to this house (my parents had built a house next to this one)... But in this house lived my grandmother Olimpia and she used to be very affectionate with me, so a good part of my free time was spent in this house since I was a very young child... One day, I was playing with my Lego bricks on the floor of the living room of this house and I was building a small replica of the house, because I liked it very much for its wooden roofs and clay tiles, as well as for its thick walls and hundreds of details which gave away its antiquity.

Siendo yo un niño de 7 u 8 años de edad, solía venir a esta casa (mis padres habían construido casa contigua a esta)... Pero en esta casa vivía mi abuela Olimpia y ella solía ser muy cariñosa conmigo, así que buena parte de mi tiempo libre yo lo pasaba en esta casa desde muy niño... Un día, estaba yo jugando con mis Lego en el suelo de la sala de esta casa y precisamente me encontraba construyendo una pequeña réplica de la casa, pues me gustaba mucho por sus techos de madera y tejas de arcilla, así como por sus gruesas paredes y cientos de detalles los cuales delataban su antigüedad.

My grandmother, noticing that I was building this very house in miniature, asked me: Jesus, do you like this house very much?... My answer was "yes", obviously... So from that day on, my grandmother Olimpia began to tell everyone that, when she was no longer around, her wish was that the house would remain in my hands... At first my mother and uncles didn't pay much attention to the statements of that old but very determined matron... So one day a lawyer summoned all my grandmother's heirs (my mother and two brothers) and informed them that my grandmother had taken the necessary steps to leave the house as an inheritance to her grandson "Jesús Armando"... I was a child at the time, so I was oblivious to the whole thing, but my mother and uncles always confirmed to me that the signatures were given without any protest, as they all thought it was a good idea.

Mi abuela, percatándose de que yo estaba construyendo esta misma casa en miniatura, me preguntó: ¿Jesús, a ti te gusta mucho esta casa?... Mi respuesta fue afirmativa, obviamente... Así que desde ese día mi abuela Olimpia comenzó a decir a todos que, cuando ella ya no estuviese, su deseo era que la casa quedase en mis manos... Al principio mi madre y mis tíos no prestaron demasiada atención a las afirmaciones de aquella anciana pero muy determinada matrona... Así fue como un buen día un abogado citó a todos los herederos de mi abuela (mi madre y dos hermanos más) y les comunicó que mi abuela había hecho las tramites necesarios para dejar la casa como herencia a su nieto "Jesús Armando"... Yo era un niño por entonces, así que estaba ajeno a todo el asunto, pero mi madre y mis tíos siempre me confirmaron que las firmas fueron dadas sin protesta alguna, pues a todos les pareció una buena idea.

Then, very often, my grandmother began to tell me in an affectionate and sardonic tone that the house was now my property and she would ask me: Would you be able to demolish it and build a new one? and I would reply in amazement: No, by God, this house is beautiful and I want to see it like this forever!... That, apparently, made my grandmother very happy, because I think she sensed that this was going to happen (bear in mind that I was only a boy of 8 years old, so I think my grandmother had some "special power" that allowed her to know that I would keep the house as it was and not destroy it) 😂

Entonces, con mucha frecuencia, mi abuela comenzó a decirme en tono cariñoso y socarrón que ahora la casa era de mi propiedad y me pregunta: ¿Serías capaz de demolerla y hacer una nueva? y yo contestaba asombrado: ¡No, por Dios, esta casa es bonita y quiero verla siempre así!... Eso, al parecer, hacía muy feliz a mi abuela, pues creo que ella intuía que así iba a ocurrir (tomen en cuenta que yo era solo un niño de 8 años, así que creo que mi abuela tenía algún "don especial" que le permitía saber que to conservaría la casa tal como estaba y no la destruiría) 😂

Unfortunately, when I was about to turn 11 years old, my grandmother became ill and died. The house was then left in my mother's care until it was legally handed over to me when I turned 18.

Lamentablemente, cuando yo estaba a punto de cumplir mis 11 años de edad, mi abuela enfermó y murió. Entonces, la casa quedó bajo cuidado de mi madre hasta que me fue entregada legalmente al cumplir los 18 años.

By the time this house became legally my property, "Johanna" my wife and I had already been dating for a couple of years.... That's a fascinating and long story, which I may tell you in a future publication. But today suffice it to say that as a couple of 19 year olds, Johanna and I got married and moved into what was now "our home".

Para el momento en el cual esta casa pasó a ser legalmente de mi propiedad, ya "Johanna" mi esposa y yo habíamos estado en pleno noviazgo desde hace un par de años... Esa esa una historia fascinante y larga, la cual quizás les contaré en un futuro a través de alguna publicación. Pero hoy basta con decir que siendo un par de chicos de 19 años, Johanna y yo nos casamos y nos fuimos a vivir a la que ahora era "nuestra casa".

Johanna is a perfect creature, full of magic and goodness. I don't think that all my years of life are enough to explain all the good things she has. But for the moment I can say that, among her thousands of qualities, she is a first class craftswoman and handywoman, so this old house and Johanna made an excellent team as soon as she became its owner. In the photo above you can see one of Johanna's typical "messes", as she often uses any space to "create".... And many of her creations are spread all over the house. Others she sells to earn some money and she also gives them as gifts to her family and friends. But not only that, Johanna is also capable of repairing, painting, restoring and decorating all the spaces in this house with supreme energy and good taste... And she also puts up with me without shooting me! 😂❤️

Johanna es una criatura perfecta, repleta de magia y de bondades. Yo no creo que todos mis años de vida basten para explicar todo lo bueno que ella tiene. Pero por los momentos puedo decir que, entre sus miles de cualidades, es una artesana y manualista de primer orden, así que esta vieja casa y Johanna, formaron un excelente equipo tan pronto ella se convirtió en su dueña. En la foto de arriba pueden ver uno de los típicos "desordenes" de Johanna, pues suele usar cualquier espacio para "crear"... Y muchas de sus creaciones están esparcidas por toda la casa. Otras las vende para ganar algo de dinero y también suele regalar otras a sus familiares y amistades. Pero no solo eso, Johanna también es capaz de reparar, pintar, restaurar y decorar todos los espacios de esta casa con suprema energía y buen gusto... ¡Y además suele soportarme a mi sin dispararme! 😂❤️

So, this is more or less how I "ended up here" in this small, old and beloved house, next to the woman I love and taking pictures every day in the streets that saw me running as a child while playing in them... In this house my mother was born (being my grandmother assisted by a midwife) and many of my relatives died and were born by maternal line, so I am very attached to these walls, to its corners and its courtyards and gardens, everything here is full of memories for me. I am still looking forward to the fact that this house will be left in the hands of my youngest daughter, who seems to have "inherited" my taste for staying here... But that is something that only time will tell.

Entonces, esta es más o menos de como "terminé aquí" en esta pequeña, vieja y amada casa, al lado de la mujer que amo y haciendo fotos a diario en las calles que me vieron correr de niño mientras jugaba en ellas... En esta casa nació mi madre (siendo mi abuela asistida por una comadrona) y murieron y nacieron muchos de mis familiares por linea materna, así que yo estoy muy ligado a estas paredes, a sus rincones y sus patios y jardines, todo aquí está repleto de recuerdos para mi. Sigo ilusionado con el hecho de que esta casa quede en manos de mi hija menor, quien parece haber "heredado" mi gusto por permanecer aquí... Pero eso es algo que solo el tiempo dirá.

In everything you see in these photos, my wife's "magic hand" is present. She has brightened everything, including new things, restoring old ones. But she has always respected the old and traditional essence of the house. Even the new outbuildings were built using the same materials as the original parts of the house. Some of the old ceilings are the ones the house had when it was built more than 120 years ago. Other things, such as woodwork and floors have had to be changed in some areas, but care has always been taken to maintain the old, simple style of the house.

En todo lo que ven en estas fotos, está presente la "mano mágica" de mi esposa. Ella a dado luminosidad a todo, incluyendo cosas nuevas, restaurando las viejas. Pero siempre ha respetado la esencia antigua y tradicional de la casa. Incluso las nuevas dependencias fueron construida usando materiales iguales a los de las partes originales de la casa. Algunos de los viejos techos son los que tenía la casa cuando se construyó hace más de 120 años. Otras cosas, como maderas y pisos han tenido que ser cambiadas en algunas áreas, pero siempre se ha procurado mantener el estilo antiguo y sencillo de la casa.

Oh, sure!... "Mia" our "Top Model" cat could not be missing in the old kitchen window! 😻

¡Ah, claro!...¡No podía faltar "Mía" nuestra gata "Top Model" en la vieja ventana de la cocina! 😻

As soon as she realises she's being watched she does this: "one of her best model poses where she shows off all her elegance and beauty"... And believe me, I'm not crazy, this cat knows how to model! 😂

Apenas ella se percata de que está siendo observada hace esto: "una de sus mejores poses de modelo en donde exhibe toda su elegancia y belleza"... ¡Y créanme, no estoy loco, esta gata sabe modelar! 😂

The one on the left side painted in white is our house as seen from the outside. That is the Bolivar Street in our town (Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela) which has remained almost unchanged during my 52 years of life. It may seem strange, but I observe this street daily and sometimes I feel that I have been here even before I was born. Such is the level of attachment I have to this place.

La del lado izquierdo pintada en color blanco es nuestra casa vista desde el exterior. Esa es la Calle Bolívar de nuestro pueblo (Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela) la cual ha permanecido casi sin cambios durante mis 52 años de vida. Quizás parezca algo extraño, pero suelo observar esta calle diariamente y a veces siento que he estado aquí aún antes de haber nacido. Tal es el nivel de arraigo que tengo con este lugar.

As you can see, it is a simple house, simply built and not at all ostentatious. That makes it even more charming and cosy in my opinion. Inside those walls there are thousands of stories and anecdotes related to my ancestors and to the west you can see the mountains which surround the village with their peaks immersed in mist... Can you ask for more being "The crazy one with the camera in his hand"? 😂

Como pueden observar, es una casa sencilla, de construcción simple y nada ostentosa. Eso la hace aún más encantadora y acogedora a mi juicio. Dentro de esas paredes hay miles de historias y anécdotas relativas a mis ancestros y hacia el Oeste se pueden observar las montañas las cuales rodean al pueblo con sus cumbres inmersas en neblinas...¿Acaso se puede pedir más siendo "El loco de la cámara en la mano"? 😂
