This Coffee Shop Serves a Locally Made Sugar!

This is my first time posting a blog in this community. I am thrilled to share a coffee shop experience of mine.

During weekends, we usually do our supermarket trip to buy food and produce to fill up our pantry. We do this every fortnight. Sometimes, we do it every week depending of what is left. Ya know, gas is so pricey these days so, we need to minimize our trips to the supermarket. The nearest supermarket to us is Savemore, a giant company in the Philippines known to have a variety of products, so that is why we love shopping here. It is just 15 minutes away from our home.

After shopping, my mom, sister, and I checked this newly opened cafe shop named Bonita's. It is located on the next street near Savemore. The cafe shop looks cozy because of the white, French windows. Alas! I forgot to take a picture of the coffee shop's exterior.

As we opened the door, The ladies' delightful aura and contagious smiles greeted us. I really love people who have positive vibes. We were seated where the airconditioner can reach us. I noticed that the seats are in rose gold color, as well as the accents on the walls. The indoor plants and the light fixtures make the place homey.

We were served with lemon water while we were deciding what to eat. For mom and sister's drink, they chose brewed coffee, while I chose home blend iced tea. We also ordered carbonara, caesar salad, and cinnamon roll. While waiting, I took the opportunity to scrutinize the cafe shop more. They have this minimalist logo hung on a textured, white wall. Very simple yet charming. On the counter, they have ensaymada and other pastries for takeaways. Looks so yummy! By the way, they accept major credit cards, and also Gcash and Paymaya, the leading e-wallets in the Philippines.

Our drinks came first. I appreciate how generous the cafe shop was. The mug is so big. Love the slice of lemon, so nice for the picture. I took a sip and was so blown away how authentic this houseblend was. There is a hint of bitterness because of the tea and then a sweet note on the end of every sip. Ahh~ refreshing~

The star of the blog! This is a brewed coffee accompanied by fresh milk, a little biscuit, and a balakutsa.

A balakutsa is a made from sugarcane molasses. It is different from a muscovado from the coconut. It is very sweet and sticky. It is stretched and curled to make the shape. When I was a kid, I used to eat this as a candy.

This will serve as the sugar for the brewed coffee. Just put it on the hot coffee and dissolved just like a normal sugar. The difference is that it is sweeter.

My order came first. Just the typical carbonara with bacon, parmesan cheese, and a garlic bread stick. The pasta was cooked just the right firm. The bacon was crispy, and the cream sauce is not overpowering. Just the right amount of everything. My sister got the caesar salad. So nice of them to give extra dressing for the salad.

My mom got a cinammon roll. She said that it was too way sweet for her taste. I tried to have a little bite, and yeah, she was right. The bread was moist and has generous cream. Wished that the sweetness was toned down a bit.

We ate in delight as we talked whatever topic that came up in our mind. We talked about the recent earthquake aftershock, our cats, and the weather. We were so stuffed and happy that we came to this cafe shop. Over all, we enioyed the ambiance, the food, and especially the kind ladies serving us.

That is it for this blog. I will see you at the next one!

That Cafe looks delightful. I like the logo and the hanging pots of plants.
The balakutsa being used as sugar is an interesting idea. This is the first that I've heard of it. Neat!

Hey there!
This looks like the place to be. I love everything about it - so cozy and homely.
I've never seen a Cinnamon roll with cream, and there's no way I could have resisted having one of that with a coffee.
An official welcome to the community, see you around:)

It's my first time hearing Balakutsa and I am surprised that it acts as sugar to coffee, very different from granulated sugar. I am shifting my diet to less sugar since I felt I've been consuming a lot lately, so the sweet cinnamon roll would be a pass also hehe.

The coffee shop looks great! The place is very enticing for relaxation. The aesthetics make it great for pictures.
