Creación literaria para niños y jóvenes [Esp. / Eng.]
Parece fácil escribir para niños, pero no; de echo es más exigente el escrito para el público infantil porque a ellos no se les puede engañar con cualquier historia; no se dejan engañar, por eso es importante llamar la atención sobre tres principios que deben considerarse en la creación literaria para niños y jóvenes:
Ética: Hay que tener cuidado con lo que escribimos, con los valores, pues el niño graba con facilidad lo que escucha, ve y experimenta; y no tiene la capacidad para discernir algunas propuestas ficcionales.
Estética: Porque el niño tiene derecho a que se le dé una obra de calidad artística que cumpla con los postulados de sencillez, claridad y corrección.
Esperanza: Porque el niño tiene derecho a volar lejos, sin pesimismos que le corten las alas.

Por eso, cuando estamos frente a un libro de los que se catalogan “para niños”, y lo leemos, y apreciamos su contenido, de inmediato nos motiva a reflexionar sobre la responsabilidad que asumen los escritores que enfocan sus obras hacia el gusto y el entendimiento de los chicos.
La literatura para niños no es un “arte menor” como quizás despectivamente la han catalogado algunos. ¿Cómo va a ser arte menor, por ejemplo, las novelas Pinocho, de Carlo Collodi; Alicia en el país de las maravillas, de Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, (Lewis Carroll). Teatro para niños como La niña que riega la albahaca, de Federico García Lorca; o La pájara pinta, de Rafael Alberti. Poesía como Caricia, de Gabriela Mistral; Cantos escolares, de Amado Nervo; Sonatina, de Rubén Darío.

Por eso quien se decide a escribir para niños debe estar consciente que no puede hacerlo sin tomar en cuenta a sus receptores, debe saber que su público estará ahí frente a su obra, no para leerla, oírla, o verla pasivamente, sino para adentrarse en la aventura de descubrir y de crear. El niño no ve la escoba que vuela, ve la armonía de su vuelo. En consecuencia, no se va a sentar frente a una obra para apreciar pasivamente las acciones de sus personajes, sino para tomar partido en los acontecimientos, y si se le negara esta posibilidad entonces el hecho literario perdería todo interés para él.
Writing for children demands as much responsibility as writing for adults. But the adult has a formed vision of the world around him, on the other hand, the child looks for everything with curiosity and almost everything for him is something fantastic, surprising; his mind is still in formation and his capacity for astonishment is still intact.
Therefore, whoever decides to write for children must be aware that he cannot do so without taking into account his receivers, he must know that his audience will be there in front of his work, not to read it, hear it or see it passively, but to enter into the adventure of discovering and creating. The child does not see the broom fly, but the harmony of its flight. Consequently, he will not sit in front of a work to passively appreciate the actions of its characters, but to participate in the events, and if he were denied this possibility, the literary event would lose all interest for him.
