Siempre he pensado es una bendición que en la ciudad de dónde soy y vivo, Barquisimeto, podamos contar dentro de los primeros días del año con una fiesta religiosa católica que tiene como centro la veneración de un pueblo a la Virgen María, en su advocación de Divina Pastora, pues, es una magnífica oportunidad para desde las diversas oraciones de intercesión que le dirigimos, poner todo nuestro año en manos de Dios, quien es en definitiva el auténtico y verdadero Pastor de nuestras vidas, en efecto, en sus enseñanzas y ejemplos conseguimos una guía indefectible para nuestro camino de fe.

Esta fiesta tiene como su centro la procesión mariana más grande del mundo, que se realiza el 14 de enero, en un recorrido que comprende 7.5 km. Pero no es sólo este día, ya que desde días previos comenzamos a participar en diversas celebraciones. El día 05 se baja la imagen de su nicho y a partir del 06 damos inicio a una novena de preparación espiritual para que tengamos buenos frutos en las diferentes actividades programadas. Es por eso, que junto a mi parroquia el domingo 07 de enero fuimos en peregrinación al Santuario donde reposa la imagen, para celebrar una misa, la cual estuvo en su totalidad a cargo de la comunidad, fue una experiencia muy interesante, porque al ser domingo pudimos compartir con muchas otras personas.

Otras de las actividades que pude hacer presencia fue el día de ayer, en la serenata que una Orquesta de renombre de la ciudad, Mavare, con más 120 de existencia, le hizo a la advocacion Mariana de la Divina Pastora en la plaza del pueblo de Santa Rosa, que es donde nació la veneración, procede la devoción aquí en Barquisimeto y dónde reposa la imagen en la mayor parte del año. Ésta también fue una experiencia maravillosa, porque pude experimentar la unión de la fe con las diversas formas de expresión artística que existen, en concreto la música y el canto.

De las dos actividades reseñadas dejo algunas fotos de referencia, con las mismas quiero dejar constancia cómo realmente las celebraciones de esta fiesta religiosa realmente engalanan los primeros días del año para nosotros, ya que no nos quedamos sólo en el día 14 sino que hay actividades que con antelación se preparan para que podamos disponernos de la mejor manera.

I have always thought it is a blessing that in the city where I was born and live, Barquisimeto, we can count on a Catholic religious festival within the first days of the year that has as its center the veneration of a people to the Virgin Mary, in her advocation of Divina Pastora. This is a magnificent opportunity to put our entire year in the hands of God, who is ultimately the authentic and true Shepherd of our lives. Indeed, in his teachings and examples, we find an unfailing guide for our journey of faith.

This festival is centered around the largest Marian procession in the world, which takes place on January 14, covering a distance of 7.5 kilometers. But it is not just this day, as we begin to participate in various celebrations in the days leading up to it. On the 5th, the image is lowered from its niche, and on the 6th, we begin a nine-day spiritual preparation so that we may have good fruits in the various activities scheduled. That is why, together with my parish, on Sunday, January 7, we went on a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary where the image rests, to celebrate a Mass, which was entirely in charge of the community. It was a very interesting experience, because it being Sunday, we were able to share with many other people.

Another activity that I was able to attend was yesterday, at the serenade that a renowned orchestra from the city, Mavare, with over 120 years of existence, gave to the Marian advocation of the Divina Pastora in the town square of Santa Rosa, which is where the veneration was born, the devotion proceeds here in Barquisimeto, and where the image rests for most of the year. This was also a wonderful experience, because I was able to experience the union of faith with the various forms of artistic expression that exist, specifically music and singing.

Of the two activities mentioned, I leave some reference photos. With them, I want to record how the celebrations of this religious festival really embellish the first days of the year for us, since we do not only stay on the 14th but there are activities that are prepared in advance so that we can prepare ourselves in the best way.
